One year when My family and me went on vacation when I was 12 or so and we went to the Oregon coast to see the ocean and we were having vehicle troubles, we had one flat tire and didnt have a spare so we dropped it off at les Schwabs tire center and we picked it up and were driving over a bridge and all of a sudden the truck started shaking and swerving all over the road so my dad somehow manages to get the truck safely past the bridge and we pull over and he instantly goes and checks the lug nuts on the tires and they are so loose he could unscrew them with his fingers and a few were on the last thread about ready to fall off. Every single tire was like this. He got out his tire iron and tightened them back up and drove back to schwabs and stormed in their furious yelling you could have got us all killed You guys didnt tighten the lug nuts back up on the tires. They denied it for like fifteen minutes straight until my dad said I didnt do it and they didnt just magically loosen up themselves over the course of five minutes from leaving here. The employees were like uhhh sorry dude I guess we forgot. So for whatever reason when they were replacing the tire, they also decided to rotate the tires but after doing so, neglected to tighten the lug nuts on them. It was scary.

Cold morning, on my way to the dealer to get an OEM FOB-Key (what is their official name) for a Mazda 3 that light came on the dash in this 2012 car. First time for me (my son's car) so I pulled over to see if any looked low, all were visually the same. So, I went on to the dealer to get the new key and programming done (my son wanted it, at nearly 400 for one key. They reset the issue. So, we shall see, maybe they will all be going bad soon at 7-8 years of age. Thanks Scotty for all your informative help Maybe won't be long before we buy cars like most electronics now-a-days: Buy new till it breaks then throw it away because they are no longer economically designed to be fixable.

NO NEVER use those 3rd party, screw on TPMS things. The weight of those un-balance the wheel. Most importantly, they put weight and strain on the valve stem. My neighbor had a set of those, and the weight caused the valve stem to snap off after a few weeks. The tire deflated in seconds while on the hwy at 60 mph, caused home to hit the median and 3 other cars and was serious injury to a family with children. crash investigator determined it was those things that caused the tire to catastrophically fail. He is still in the legal hell hole of the law suits from the other people.

This is appropro. my 2013 Sienna, which I bought 2 years ago, is getting 4 new tires (Michelin defender) tomorrow. my tire guys are going to put in 4 new TPMS sensors. When I bought the van, 2 of the sensors were bad. Car's now 6 years old, so I am pre-emptively replacing all 4 TPMS sensors. My tire guy charges 55/sensor parts and labor when he's taking the tires off the rims to put new tires on. He charges 85/sensor when he's not also replacing the tires. I hadn't been aware of systems like this but now I'm looking into them.

You forgot to say there are two frequency types 315 mhz and 433 mhz, Also if one goes bad the others are going to fail in hours days months later. It is like replace a headlamp. Why replace the one when you know the other is going to go bad. Normal usage. I have see one car lose both headlamps almost hours apart. Lady could not understand why she could not see well in city driving at night. LMAO I told her it would cost 150 to fill each with liquid halogen. LMAO. Then told her the truth. Replace both or all

IDK. I've had my MDX since 2011. Not once I had to replace any TPMS sensors. Also, you don't need any machine to calibrate or program the senosrs. You just put the new one on and that's it. I have two sets of seasonal tires, both with sensors in them. I just swap the tires myself twice a year and it doesn't require anything to be done with either sensors or the computer. MDX also shows you individual tire pressure for all four tires on the cluster screen.

The TPMS saved my bacon. I ran over a nail with the front passenger side wheel. I had just got on the highway, going 75mph and ding ding ding. I pulled over and saw the nail head. I checked the pressure and it was down almost 20 lbs. Whew. That was close I put the Doughnut on and got off at the next exit only a mile away and got the Tire repaired PS - These were brand new tires too. only a month old

My 2017 mazda6 has the pressure sensors built into the abs wheel speed sensors, apparently it can detect small changes in tire rotation and speed and knows when the air is low. It also gets power from the car battery. It was a nice surprise when I bought winter rims/tires and didn't have to buy any sensors. I still check the pressure with a gauge at least once a month.

I bought that Autel TPMS tool and 4 of Autel Sensors. took them to Sam's Club, but they said they won't install TPMS sensors that the customers brought with them. They will only install TPMS sensors they sell. So I went to Goodyear Tire Services place, and they were willing to use my sensors, but they charge more for the exact same model tires compare to Sam's.
