Heres Why Ill Die Before I Buy a BMW Jake State Farm: When I was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas in the not too distant past, there were a class of people, I wont mention who, that thought that just because they had a steady Army paycheck they could go out and buy the most expensive BMWs. Yep, used car lots were full of BMWs, those type of people never understood what it really costs to own one. They remind me of the NFL players who sign multi million dollar contracts only to be dirt poor and broke as a joke after they left the NFL. They never learn

It is not just cars, other things German designed too, and for a long time. German products are complex and expensive. They failed to learn the KISS rule (keep it simple) for well over a century. Their products just have too many parts. Even around WW2, their tanks (Tigers, Panthers) are maintenance hogs, and were eating into their readiness, the expensive Lugar and theMG34 had to be replaced during a major war. The 34 was never totally replaced. BMWs, Benzs nowadays, you cannot even change a battery without the dealer's help to reprogram the computer, I know a few American cars are the same.

I owned a 1982 E12/8 (Google it if you're curious) 518i (broken odometer, estimated around 150-170k km in 2016, until it got stolen later the same year. Actually, that thing still had the original 1982 tyres at the back Now I own a 1999 2. 8 Z3 (199k km, leaky ragtop and all (convertibles leak, it's the nature of the beast. Would I buy another BMW? ABSOLUTELY Assuming it's an older model of course. And assuming I have the money to buy one, which I don't. Any turbo BMW is a nightmare, and designed to fail once the warranty is up. But the older ones (M54 or older) were excellent cars.

I bailed out of BMW after 2005 when the E90 3 series came out. But my 2005 330 ZHP really WAS an ultimate driving machine, although The Performance Package was a very rare and expensive OEM upgrade. That inline 6 felt fantastic. I could not bring myself to trade up to an M3 or an M Coupe both of which felt very sloppy and unrefined next to my ZHP although the M Coupe was a true beast. If you ever run across an e46 330 ZHP you should buy it, sight unseen. Having said that, I am very happy with a 2020 Subaru Forester for a daily driver and a WRX for fun.

I actually just transferred my old tires that came from my 2000 Plymouth voyager to my newish 2004 dodge caravan and they're great. I never in all my years of driving my 2000 voyager replaced my rims. HEre's how I see it. Its about the brand and not the vehicle itself. Thats why my 2004 caravan is better than a bmw. BEcause the parts are easy to acquire, and I get a long life out of the vehicle, and I have room inside to relax. I camp out alot in my van down by the river close to where I live. Port Huron has water ways.

Its strange the Nissan CVT engines are not doing well in America but in Europe Nissan Qashqai is the best selling SUV. For certain countries they build crappy parts. I have 2008 Nissan Qahqai 1. 5dci used since 2014 and never had any issues with engine. Runs smooth FWD. I have the cheapest model. Done 150, 000miles and love it. Every year I get a service done and once replaced timing belt when I bought it from previous owner. Nissan is using a Renault engine which is doing great so far.

Was tempted when I saw how cheap they are second hand 2 or 3 k for 10 yr old round here. But also suspicious. Theres only very limited enjoyment to be had from a car thats a bit smoother, faster accelerating or more beautiful looking. Not worth the pain of knowing you blew thousands on a car essentially because of a lack of objectivity and knowing that you where capable of looking around for advice online and not making the mistake, which it so happens I didnt.

I bought an audi 14 months ago. I have only been able to drive it for three of those months. It is always broken. I have spent 14500 in repairs in that time, and, the car still won't start without having to boost it. I am essentially giving the damned thing away now. In payments, and repairs, I am losing 22000 on this thing. It will be worth it to make it some other suckers problem. Lesson learned. German cars are garbage, and, their service is a joke.

Thank you Scottie you are so right and much more we had a BMW once, the right headlight went out we had to jack up the car take off the tire, take off the wheel weld cover to replace the headlight and reverse the procedure I couldn't believe it, I wonder what else is going to be hard to believe I know after listening to you the price is going to be really hard to believe That's for sure, Thank you Scottie again from Joey in Honolulu, Hawaii, Aloha

Nothing says sporty like an automatic convertible. They're pretty heafty beasts as well, convertables even more so bc of the extra reinforcement to compensate for rigidity loss from a missing roof structure. Funny I was just thinking of a garden of eden apple analogy yesterday for rally racing (approaching too wide on corner entry is like reaching for the apple which could leave you bitten.
