My parents used to own a Dodge Caravan like this one, back in the day. It was a 2007 short-wheelbase model with the 3. 3 L V6 engine. They were great minivans for my opinion, but the 1994 model, it was very bad luck. The 1994 model always had a lot of problems. For a courtesy vehicle, we had a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport (the long-wheelbase model - the ordinary one, because the 2000 Pontiac Montana Extended Wheelbase minivan with the 3400 (3. 4 L) V6 engine was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram Cargo Van, I think. Anyway, this was not a bad video regarding the Caravan, but I will never get one. I would prefer to go for a 2005 Dodge Neon (SX 2. 0) sedan with the 2 L four-cylinder engine with 132 horsepower and the regular four-speed automatic transmission or get a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5. 7 L HEMI V8 engine with 367 horsepower and the five-speed autostick (manual-shift) transmission. Finally, I would prefer the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee over the 2005 Dodge Neon (SX 2. 0.

Hey Scoty, have you think that because are soo many of these cars in trafic, there is a huge probability to have many of them in service? A mathematically corect approach is to divide the number of cars which come into the service in 1 year to the total number of these cars running in traffic. Use this factor to find out how realiable these cars are. Example: if there are 100000 X type of cars in trafic, and in 1 year 100 need repairs, then the reliability factor is 100/100000=0. 0001, and if there are 10000 Y type of cars and 10 per year need repars, the factor is 10/10000=0. 001. Statistically, the X car is 10 times better than Y despite it has 10 times more defects because of the huge number X cars which are in trafic. However, as a man who work as mechanic you will see that 100 X cars need repair comparatively to 10 Y cars which need repair and you can conclude that Y cars are 10 times better see than X cars, which is statistically wrong.

Mine is 20 years old and runs beautifully. It's been very well maintained and I'm an electronics technician of 27 years so I understand how it's built. Not everybody knows how to service them properly. I have the Chrysler shop manual on hand. Transmission failures come from leaky seals. Running them low on fluid screws them up. In case of losing gear, try when the vehicle is cold, if all gears come back, the coil box mounted on the side of the transmission has 1 of 4 burnt coils. 160 kit on eBay. The van goes into 2nd gear limp in mode when a coil fails. Also, check your manual and run the correct fluid types instead of running into a convenient store and buying what ever is on the shelf. Oh, also make sure the ground strap from the engine to the body never snaps. The computer will develop static across it and fail. There's more to keeping them in good shape but any fuel injection vehicle requires home work.

Can you talk about subaru more? I have a '13 outback and the ABS sensor is making my engine run like crap. Other people say ABS can't make check engine light come on but it does Check this. as a test, I unplugged the ABS sensor inside the engine compartment and the car wouldn't even start. Tried to run ABS codes and the scan tools said car wasn't compatible with ABS. Only code that came up was for VSS A. Can you explain why? Please? Gonna change wheel bearing and sensor soon, but all this started after a lower ball joint turned steering knuckle change along with a cv shaft replacement (driver's side/left side) sorry to throw a wrench in but you're the manchanic. Thank you

I had 2 of these. One of them I could not keep an air conditioner working. The dealer fixed it twice but it was no fixed. It later dropped a transmission at about 90k. I had another one where the transition literally blew up. I now have a Honda Odessey. keeps on ticking. I actually apologized to my favorite mechanic. Hey I bought a honda so I have not seen him in 5 years I knew a lot of people who had caravans that dropped transmissions. The guy know replaced mine had stacks of these transmissions so that he could replace them quickly. Chrysler kept him in business for years. Now you know why I drive a Honda

my parents rolled a 2003 Dodge Caravan Sport 3. 3L V6 right off the showroom floor and had no issues with it. that van was given to me when it had 80k miles. at around 100k miles the AC compressor went out and i replaced it with a new Denso (OEM) compressor. other than brakes, tires and fluid changes. thats the extent of the repairs done to the vehicle. i did take care of the Van since it was new and have done all of the maintenance myself like clockwork. my dad did get another 2007 Dodge Caravan used and that thing is a pile of junk but it still runs and drives at 170k miles on it w/o any major repairs.

0: 18. That's a '91. I owned my '92 for 24 years and I would have continued to own it if I hadn't run into an '03 Odyssey for cheap. I assume the previous owner rebuilt the transaxle at 75, 000 miles because I had it done again at 150, 000. Would have cost 2, 000 but I pulled it myself so the shop charged me 1, 400 to rebuild it before I put it back in. I sold it at 235, 000 miles and that rebuild was still working fine. The way I look at it, rebuilding the transmission is part of the regular maintenance. Just budget 2, 000 every 75, 000 miles or less than. 03 per mile. Still not a bad deal.

My grandparents were fans of the dodge grand caravans and regular caravans. they had from 1 gen to 2 gen vans drove the wheels off of them i think they had five in total. my grandfather loved the first gen that came with the mitsubishi motor he had clock 500, 000 plus miles on the van until the squirrels got to the electronics and cause a engine fire. With the other ones they just got to a point that rust became a problem and they got rid of them but the had 200, 000 to 300, 000 miles on the other vans, but hey that's what happens when you live up north.

So as a data for Kids and the proud owner of a 2008 Honda Odyssey that has 149, 000 miles that have been absolutely flawless, I can tell you as I talk to other dads everyone of them that ever bought a caravan regretted it. The biggest complaint was electrical issues and transmissions. Couple times Ive heard about catalytic converter is going out over and over especially in the newest version of the van. Other than regular maintenance my odyssey has been perfect. Ive on five different vehicles in my life and this is been the best one Ive ever had.
