Watch This Before Buying an Electric Car Todd Edelman: Plug-in hybrids can run on electric only but have an engine as a backup, enough to get you to a charging station for a fast charge or - using a cable that every vehicle carries - a slower charge on a suitable 3-pin standard outlet. Most electric cars have little to replace except for tires. and eventually the battery. New batteries can be purchased. The manufacturing problems of all types of vehicles are huge, and there is slow progress towards batteries with fewer problematic minerals.

about the toyota highlander temp control knob, mine broke a couple years ago, many times tightening the nut will fix it, but for me, no unfortunately that didnt do anything, so everyone was telling me I have to replace the whole thing and it will be like 500, well I tried fixing it myself, might as well right? Well I found just one wire that got torn off the board, I fixed that with a soldering iron and its worked ever since. Saved me like 500. If messing with that knob doesnt do the trick, either try fixing it yourself with a soldering iron, or even try taking it to some computer repair guy, he probably will have all the tools and knowledge to fix a single broken wire. If you do try to fix it yourself, while taking it apart, there are some ribbon cables you do not want to tear, be very careful about those.

Scotty, I just bought a 2015 Camry LE with 105k miles. The first 500 miles I put on, I got around 28 mpg. However, it seems that overnight, my mpg dropped to 15. The only variable I can think of is, the battery seems to need attention/replaced. I need to give it a little charge to start if it sits over 2 days. Second, the right front tire hit a hidden curb pretty good going about 25 mph around the time of mpg drop. It's also due for an oil change now, and there was a little pulsing in the front brakes since the day I bought it. Not anything major though. That's all I got. Rotors, Oil Change, some type of computer sensor/regulator that I have no experience with. This is my first newer, tech-ish car. Any suggestions?

The more of your videos I watch the more evident it becomes that youre that guy in 1900 on a horse yelling at cars. so many of tour views are only relevant if it was 1995. like slamming the new wrangler diesel because the engine is made by fiat. only one of the largest diesel manufacturers in Europe: /. And mechanics dont know how to work on them? What planet you live in? Mechanics have to learn to work in new engines everyday. the fact tyts its a diesel means zero, its Ana engine. And How often do you see an electric car stranded on the road because it ran out of battery? .you can plug in anywhere you cAn plug in an iPhone to get you to a fast charger. which now days thats almost any mall or shopping area

Been driving a 2014 Tesla P85D for 2 years now. It's the best car I've ever driven. The 1-pedal driving makes it so I barely ever use my brakes. Monstrous 691 horsepower on tap with no shifting gears to slow me down. The range does go down very quickly with spirited driving and I can understand that you need the infrastructure to make it work. I'm fortunate to have a level 2 charger at my work, so it's great for me. The weight of the car definitely creates understeer and makes the handling a bit heavy around tight corners. I believe the pros of my P85D far outweigh the cons though. I highly recommend Tesla if you have the infrastructure to make it work.

I know there are folks who are tired of hearing about my 2006 Pontiac G6 V6 that lived to be 11 years old with 280+K miles on it and I still see G6's out there to this day. Definitely hit the GM lotto when I bought it. All I did was strictly stick to GM's maintenance schedule. After the first 6 years I was spending around 500 per year on repairs and maintenance. I had to ditch it in 2017 because after hurricane Sandy drowned it a few years prior, the rust was getting too much but more so it was having all sorts of electrical problems.

As an owner of a 2018 Civic type r I have been daily driving it for over a year now and it has been great. Very easy to live with and on long distance trips, 5 plus hours drives, comfort mode is very comfortable and sport mode is not very harsh at all. Even the plus r mode is not as rough as a wrx sti or a focus RS. Only thing to worry about is the the wheel and tire combo. The stock 245/30r20 Continentals Sport Contact 6 can get very expensive so pay close attention to the road for potholes.

Could you just STOP with the range anxiety stuff? As soon as you own a decent EV with >250 miles of range (like all Teslas) this is not an issue 99. 99% of the time. You can drive anywhere in the US and be within 150 miles of a supercharger. Model 3 long range has 325 miles of range and model S has up to 373 miles. Better than a lot of gas cars. If you live in Bismark ND, maybe an EV is not the right choice but nearly anywhere else it makes sense.

The Type R comments remind me of my M3 when I first drove it. The steering was so quick, you only had to think about turning and the car turned. After 15 mins on the freeway, the downside emerged. Every little ripple or bump in the road sent the car flying to right or left. Trying to drive in a straight line was exhausting. The cure was 45 section tires with softer walls. OK it doesn't handle like a go-cart any more, but it is more livable.

First Blyet. So I have a question Scotty, I picked up a roughly 80 pound chunk of metal because my father and I are scavengers and it slipped when I was setting it in my fathers car trunk and now he blames it on me that the chunk of steel that I dropped into his trunk ruined his shocks on his Honda, do you think that that chunk of metal being dropped maybe an inch or 2 inches at the most would have ruined his suspension?
