Scotty! Good Day! James here from across the Gulf, St. Petersburg, FL. Love your content - very straightforward and reasonable advice. Commented before; I come from a strict Toyota, Honda, and Mazda family. Went out of my comfort zone and BOUGHT A NISSAN VERSA! I know, I know. BUT only 8k miles and it is a 5-speed, no CVT! ECONOMY! Priced under 10 grand (blessed with a family member that paid half) includes 50k extended mile warranty, worry-free as far as my wallet is concerned and in mint condition. Had trouble passing this one up. Any thoughts? Also, maybe it is just me or the model, but the AC is not as cold as the Florida summer commands. Start at the bottom with Freon charge? Any advice would be much appreciated! Take care my friend!

The ac in those are terrible! Compressor failure rate was super high. I picked up a new compressor for 280 for mine. 3 years and never had another issue. I like to change them before they fail so if it does go out it doesn t put any kind of metal or contamination in the system. You can get by with just the compressor instead of changing out everything.
Also, I d change that wheel bearing now. Let it go too long and you ll be changing the whole hub from the bearing galling itself in there. Might have beat one out on my civic

I wish there was an easy way of finding out if your AC has ran out of gas, bought our secondhand Vectra cdti from a Vauxhall dealership, 10 days after buying it we took it back over burning smell & Turbo whining, we also asked them to check AC as when we checked it out it wasn't cold, guy said its probably out of gas & he'd refill it, months later we had hot weather in the UK o_O so tried cold setting for the first time, but it just blows warm air from outside. How am i to check gas level for myself? can i?

Scotty, I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta Tdi with 388, 000 miles and the ac is not blowing cold. The system is not low on freon, the compressor clutch engages, and i've checked the high/ low pressure sensor. When I hook up the AC gauges to the high side shows 120 psi and the low side shows 113 psi. I've also checked the blend door but it is functioning. What could be wrong?

Hey Scotty, you like Chryslers don't you? Years ago Andy Rooney, color commentator for 60 minutes, did a back of the envelope calculation. He figured the US military could drop Chrysler LeBarons instead of the expensive bombs they were dropping wherever they were dropping bombs those days. Rooney was sure the million or so LeBarons would cause more damage.

Hey Scotty I own a 2010 VW CC sport and I bought used from a private dealer and I had a problem with it s transmission. Basically when it s in drive or reverse and I take my foot off the brake it kicks randomly instead of moving forward or backward slowly like a normal car. Does anyone have any tips with what s wrong or things I can do?

I have come to the conclusion that the most reliable cars are made by Mattel. I have several cars and trucks made by them and not a one of them have ever broken down or had a single problem. The really awesome thing is that they cost only 99 cents each. You just can't beat that.

The ac on my family's car started having problems and not blowing cool air. took it to the mechanic. they added refrigerant. work fine after that but few weeks later the ac compressor suddenly seized while driving. Anyone know what caused it?

So if my car has to be moving in order for the air to be cold, that means my compressor is failing? It s not as cold on start up as it used to be but when it finally gets cold, it s still very cold. I thought i might be low on Freon.
