This Nissan is Better Than a Toyota Alex: Nissan were going down the pan when they merged with Renault, they asked Ford for help who said no. If Nissan didnt merge they probably would not be around today, and yes i am a fan of Renault. I have two Meganes and my father has a Captur and he loves it to death. I have owned various Renault's over the last 23/24 years and i have never any problems thats worth speaking about. Only a minor thing like a thermostat issue with the older Megane that was leaking oil but at 10 years old and over 90k miles i wont complain.

Loved my '93 J30 (3rd gen) Maxima SE with 5-sp manual and the 190 hp engine, independent rear suspension, and limited slip diff. Very fun and reliable car. I miss it. This 4th gen that Scotty is reviewing backslid somewhat in having a torsion bar solid axle instead of the independent suspension, and an uglier round body style--but still a solid and reliable workhorse. It is unfortunate that Nissan lost that dedication to quality engineering and quality control that they once shared with Honda and Toyota. I wonder if they will ever break up with Renault and go back to the solid business model of their heydays.

Nah the only good thing about this car is the engine yes, but everything around it will break. I owned 2 of these. These cars suffer from suspension problems. Every bushing on the front end will go bad. All 4 struts will go bad. The torque on that motor is way too much for the chassis. The Cv axles, tie rods. Basically anything with a bushing on this car will go bad. This car is truly the definition of a clunker. When the bushings go bad this car makes so much suspension noise. Lots of clunking. But was it a reliable? Sure it was. But is it comfortable? No.

Sorry Scotty, but youre bias is misplaced. Im on my 6th Nissan and an 09 Frontier is my daily with 112k on it. Owes me nothing. Not a single part has failed. Had a 2000 Maxima my brother in law finally killed at 235k. Meanwhile, my wife has a 12 Prius that has had so many juggling part failures it rivals my 86 Toyota Pickup that I had to ditch with 24k on it. Ill take any Nissan over any Toyota every day of the week. These aint your daddys Toyotas and your panning of Nissan is off base.

I had a 93 and yeah it was very dependable vehicle but mine was the all bells and whistles model and the idiotic extras broke in annoying ways, the seat belts were messed up (the kind that the shoulder wraps over you when you close the door) they'd go ding ding ding ding ding ding and stop long enough to start again over and over, also the alarm was messed up it would go off when you opened random doors, the climate control was a problem child also, mine must've been driven very hard.

Hey Scotty Im looking for a car to buy pretty soon I live in Wisconsin so I need something thats awd I was thinking about a Subaru wrx or a lexus is350 but then Subaru is cheaper and I can get a 2018 wrx instead of a 2014 Lexus is350. Are the 2018 wrx reliable? I cant find out if they have that problem that Subaru had with the lawsuit Im not sure if its from 2012-2017 wrx so I dont know if they fixed it in 2018 cant seem to find that answer

Imagine driving a brand new 1998 Nissan Maxima that had 650 miles on it, with leather seats, every single option available and a manual transmission. Now imagine driving a brand new 1988 Nissan 300ZX turbo that had 850 miles on it, with leather seats, every single option available and a manual transmission. I did. I'm not as old as Scotty but I've driven many amazing cars when they were brand spanking new.

My mom had a 95 pearl white with black leather and bose. She got it up to well over 200k before she got rid of it and she didn't take the best care of it. I changed an injector once and my brother did the brakes a few times. She once went to 17k between oil changes for some reason but that thing kept ticking. Had a check engine light at 200 and something a few years ago so she got rid of it.

Nissan cars may suck However my 2013 Frontier has been bullet proof 7 years 260. 000 miles One broken leaf spring. Wife hit a loose TT rim on the highway. Just replaced struts and shocks with Bilstien and Old Man Emu leafs The truck runs and drives like new. Not a spot of rust. Truck has spent it's entire life in Up State NY in the Finger Lakes. I will be buying another soon.

I had a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE. It was a very reliable vehicle. 1995-1996 were the preface lift models and the 1997-1999 were the face lift. Only issue with these Nissans were rust in the radiator support. The VQ30DE is bulletproof. The 2007-2008 Maxima with the CVT transmission are actually reliable as well. The bad years were from 2004-2006 with the horrible 5 speed automatic.
