This Will Destroy Your Cars AC System KEITH HESNEY: A few things I disagree with here. 1. You just evcd the system & its holding. great. But Scotty just added about 1 to 2 oz of air back into the system with that empty hose line from the can. He just introduced moisture & air into a fully evacd system? Dumb. 2. there is not enough refrigerant to kick the compressor on to suck the liquid in. He should have purged the (red) line after the refrigerant can was connected to the manifold set & flooded the condenser (WITH THE CAR NOT RUNNING) with as much refrigerant as possible (or as much as it could take. it will not over charge the system as the condenser can only hold a few oz. Then close the red valve & start the car. Then there will enough refrigerant in the system to kick the compressor on. Then remove the low side line (blue) from the charging port, & hook up the additional sealer can, to the low side port. Then 3, remove the can, reattach the blue low side line to the charging port, purge the line & continue to charge the system with the car running on the low side & never open the high side valve while the car is running. Remember to pay attention to the oz your putting in the system via scale. Do not over charge the system. Get a temperature pressure chart off google for R-134A.

Hi Scotty I love your show youre very informative hopefully you can help me out I just bought a 2018 Hyundai Elantra the manufacturer suggested oil is shell helix 5w 20 I cant find this brand anywhere I can only find it on a non trusted site on the web that supposedly sells it in India Im afraid if I put anything else in my car it might void the warranty or affect the overall performance especially the gas mileage right now the car has 5 w20 Shell Helix oil in it right now theres a huge sticker underneath the hood as soon as you open up the hood the cut that tells you the car uses Shell Helix oil and shell transmission fluid and on the oil cap itself is a Shell Helix sticker 5w 20 and then in the owners manual of the car it says to use Shell Helix 5 W 20 I dont trust the dealership because theyre telling me they dont recommend to use that oil in the car Im so confused because this is coming straight from Hyundai manufacturer Corporation but yet the dealer is saying that they dont agree with Hyundai Corporation what should I do

Theres a common misconception that DIY AC work is prohibited but thats just not true. If you are not a licensed business and you are working on your personal car you are A-OK in the eyes of the epa. These rules apply to commercial people only. So dont be afraid to work on your own stuff the epa isnt coming for you. I promise. Now if youre jiffy lube and youre letting the stuff into the atmosphere on every car youre gonna get hugeeeee fines and possibly jail time.

Thanks for the good advice. I wish I had known about this before I sold my last car. The only reason I sold it, as I had an AC leak that leaked out in about 2 months. The garage said I needed to replace 3 parts of my AC for a cost of 5K. I was planning on replacing the car in the next year. But ended up having to get rid of it early. You need AC in South Florida.

i have used that and it worked for me. i had a old chevy every 2 or 3 months i would have to put a can in but i couldnt find a leak. so i tried it with nothing to loose and 1 1/2 years later i never put anymore in. and im at the age if it dont have A/C im not riding in it. im just about 70 miles east of you so i know all about the texas heat

Hey Scotty I have only worked on Volkswagens up to 2007, and I dont think your prosedure will work on those cars as they have a low pressure sensor, so when the refrigerant level is low, the compressor will not run. How do you fix that? Rune Waltoft from Norway

I insulated the ac lines under the hood and going to the rear climate controls on my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali and the air coming out of the vents is 30 degrees Fahrenheit just idling when its 90 out and the system has never been recharged or touched since I bought it new in 2002.

Scotty, you have the best channel on cars Ive found Dont ever quitMy AC runs cool, its not low on freon, I checked the pressure and its ok. The fans inside and out blow fine. Its just not really cold coming out the vents. No bubbles in sight glass.

Any can of AC sealer as said THE AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD BE RUNNING WHILE INJECTING. Your video evacuates the system and has you inject with the compressor not running because there is no charge util you fill in after sealer injection. What gives?

Great tip Scotty, I have one of those small leaks in my AC that takes several weeks to show signs of low refrigerant. It was diagnosed to be leak in the interior, would cost more than the car to fix. I think I might give this product a shot.
