If You Buy These Cars, Youll Lose a Ton of Money Zach Williams: Hey Scotty, what are your thoughts on the 2018 Chevy Malibu with the 2. 6 auto stop eco engine? We are hitting about 38 mpg on average with it currently and paid for all the coverages bells and whistles so the dealership gets to deal with it for servicing etc. The wife researched and purchased the Chevy after a debacle with her 08 Nissan Pathfinder transmission coolant problems so we were in a rush. All the reports looked good so we took a chance. Other than the Nissan (And now this Chevy) we have always been Ford owners, and Im still running my 02 f150 v8 triton 5. 4 and love it. A coil here and there-easy fix- but Zero problems So, our plan is to run this Malibu to about 50k and trade it in for another new ride. Is this a horrible choice or did she Lol, do good? She wants to know your thoughts ( to rub it in my face) because I annoy her watching your channel daily and have voiced a few GM concerns to her so shes skeptical. Of course Im the hubby so what the heck do I know Haha. Thanks for any response and we LOVE your knowledge, videos and channel Robert Williams-Wichita, KS

I have a 2013 Chevy Impala i bought it when it was 2yrs old 77, 000 miles on it was a rental mechanically its been somewhat ok gas caps appear to be a problem setting off ck engine light purge vent valve on engine had to replace 3xs since 2015 when it goes my city mileage plummets from 18. 9mpg drops down to 12. 3mpg hi way mileage awesome 33. 4mpg, dont like the tranny always hunting for the right gear, cloth seats look and feel like a old sofa just plain cheap manufactured, handling leaves much to be desired too much lean in corners as for the braking the rear brakes come in too late, nice hi way ride comfortable, JMO the Impala is a cheap made GM product that cannot hold up as it ages I have 94, 000 on mine and I need to have the seats reupholstered just a plain cheap interior.

Heres my real life example. Bought a gently used 2003 Mercedes W220 S500 4Matic from a BMW dealership (yes really) got them down from 10, 900 to 8200 (was about to go to auction) this car had 70, 000 miles, old lady owned it, she put a bunch of money into it (mostly just regular upkeep) and now Im in a really nice comfortable powerful luxurious ride for a fraction of the price. Dont even have comprehensive insurance (just the basic insurance as required so that saves 800 a year) nice to drive in the snow, and should something go wrong, Ill fix it myself or go to a local shop that specializes them and charges reasonable rates. Its coming up on 2 years and no problems. Just changed the oil last week.

I agree with scotty here but I mean when it comes to these modern cars Id just be buying the newest model without being new to ensure theres a factory warranty so its guaranteed. Companies like mitsubishi are offering up to ten year warranties on their cars which pretty much defeats the purpose of used cars. I know when Im ready to buy a car Im probably going to buy a mitsubishi mirage thats either new or close to new with a down payment. Your car payment will be done before the warranty is up. To me thats better than buying a car thats in some cases 5-10 years old that you never know will need a new repair. Randomly having to spend hundreds of thousands vs a car payment every month hmmmm.

Augh We have a 2012 Passat - basically same car as the 13. However, the 2. 5 5 Cyl is not a GDI. Also the 6 speed auto transmission is an Aisen 09G model on ours. I think Scotty is referring to the 4 cyl turbo diesel (or V6) with the dual clutch transmissions which all have a litany of issues. The turbos they use now in the 2014s and up (1. 8 previous and newer 2. 0) are GDI, I believe, with high pressure fuel delivery. We have 64, 000 miles on the clock on our SE and have replaced the water pump. Airbag/clock spring recall was done at the dealership. Ill report back once I keep running into nickle and dime repairs.

Hey Scotty. Im wondering what you would recommend: I need a car for my wife and would like to spend less than 10, 000. It has to be an automatic; shes left handed and just cant handle a manual. I do 90% of my own work on my cars. I have no problem doing brakes, exhaust, suspension, alternators, power steering pumps etc. I also paint for a living; so I dont care if its scratched up (just so long as its not a rust bucket. I want a reliable engine/transmission and electrical system. What do you recommend?

Buddy Scotty there aint nothing wrong with the damn and Tyler just because somebody had problems with it doesnt mean anybody else is going to have problems with it they aint junk cars youre just a hypochondriac to make think all cars are bad and American then Im already good youre just a Steak & More on to put down American cars foreign cars but youre going to put down American cars cuz thats all you think about cuz youre cuz you only care about foreign cars more than you American Car obviously

Scotty did you not receive your payoff from Nissan or Volkswagen this year to Not knock there product. You are so full of Sheit and it is very obvious that you dislike Nissan. I owned Nissan products for over 25 years and I never had a better product. Your blatant bias towards Nissan is well known and I can only assume it is because you receive no payoffs from them to endorse there fine product. I am ending my subscription to your channel because your words mean nothing to me anymore.

Funny because their are still tons and tons of Chevy Impalas on the road from 00-14. See them all the time, my buddy sells them at his dealership and my family and friends had them from various years. Never had one fall apart like this guy claims. In fact I was in Monroe getting an oil change on my 2013 Impala and the garage manager says these are some of the better cars they get with less issues than the Subarus, VWs, FCAs and Nissans. And thats a fact

I remember before gas dropped in price I almost bought a Passat for 5500 a while back and almost traded in my 2005 Ford Explorer Im glad I didnt do that but what made me decide against it because it wouldve been harder to get parts for that Passat than the Explorer and I wouldve been switching from a spacious v8 suv to a foreign car and ultimately decided the worse gas mileage was a better expense than that Passat
