Breaking News: Land Rover Screws Up Big Time Curtis Barker: More so than any other brand not under any circumstances. Should you buy a used Land rover nor a Range Rover. Currently they design their engines so as the customer cant even so much as change their own spark plugs. Sealing the plugs under the heads. Wanna change your plugs? Haha You gotta pull the heads off ya Range rover engine to that. Whyd they do that you ask? Corporate domain Policy. They would prefer you come in to the dealers maint. Facility so as they can go fishing fir hundred bills on your wallet haha

JLR is in bad shape. They need several billion pounds in investment to be able to continue to compete with their German competitors, but they dont have anything like the sales (Jaguar, for instance, only sells about 200k cars a year globally; Mercedes, Audi and BMW sell about 8 million EACH) to afford the R&D in the highly competitive luxury markets it competes. Things initially improved when Tata Motors took them over, but now JLR is dragging its parent company down as well, so who knows how much longer theyll even be around. I suspect that in a few years at the latest JLR will either be bankrupt or nationalized.

The Ignorance of Americans never ceases to amaze me. I am a hill farmer in Scotland and have used Land Rovers for over 40 years. They are used and abused as hard working vehicles in every way imaginable. I am also a volunteer member of a mountain rescue organisation where we need vehicles that will survive the most extreme conditions where peoples live depend on it. Our LRs have always seen us through. We once tried a Toyota which broke down no less than 14 times in 12 months. Eventually the chassis rusted right through.

Don't buy a Saturn period. Had 2, both standards had timing chain tensioner laying in the oil pan, burned oil like crazy. Put 1000's of dollars in parts as I am a certified Mechanic with 45 years in the business (didn't start at 14 like Scotty) as I went to college and got a 2 year degree in Automotive Technology even though we are both the same age now. Also had to buy the parts from the Saturn dealer as no one else had them. Good luck finding a Saturn dealer now

The s series SATURN automatic transmissions are not that complicated. Very simple automatics. I've rebuilt several of them. The most common issues is the pressure control valve in the valve body would stick and/or its return spring would break and cause the trans to slam into gear. New valve body, if it was built rite, would fix the issue. I would also usually replace the input shaft as well.

Land Rover screws up big time How in the world is this breaking news. This is like saying breaking news - scientists have determined that your internal combustion cars will stop running if not continually supplied with fuel - film at 11: 00. Now if the reverse of that came true, it really would be news.

Scotty sorry but Saturns old automatic transmissions are great. Ive had three 03 Saturns LW200 and they are great Only once I had a catastrophic engine failure because the timing chain broke. Yes the timing chain could be a problem but the transmissions never ever. Over all they are great cars.

Wow that is a major screw-up the company is so hung up on their price that they are willing to underhand their customers and not give them a quality product solely selling these things off the name and not the quality I hope they go out of business no business should be run like this at all

If you're considering getting a Landover/ range rover (other than a defender, park it side by side with the equivalent Toyota, and do a walk around comparison. At which point you will recognise how poorly designed and manufactured Landover / range rovers are, yes they really are that bad.

This seems to be a very common problem with British car designers. Paying premium pricing for products that tend to be screwed up. TATA has to move design and manufacturing of JLR to India. The brand will have a better design and performance with Indian engineers getting things done
