I had a 1991 Geo Metro 3 cylinder 1 liter 5 speed I got 51 miles to the gallon combined Highway and City driving it was a lot less maintenance than this Honda Insight Suzuki made the motor I got close to 200, 000 miles on it when a rock hit the windshield and was cost-prohibitive for me to replace it as a delivery vehicle then I found in 1987 Chevy Chevette less gas mileage but was an automatic and a good beater with a heater thanks Scotty

This was the first of Hondas mini mini hybrid flops. Even a decade-and-a-half later when they Resurrected the Honda Insight name plate it's still sucked when compared even to the first-generation Prius Sobek in the early 2000s. I remember years ago sitting in a movie theater in Miami watching that hyper silly the day after tomorrow movie. When Dennis Quaid's character drove up in a Honda Insight every Julio in this theater burst into laughter.

The Insight got good gas mileage mostly because it was just a small, light weight, aerodynamic car. Ive heard of them with dead hybrid systems still getting 45-50 MPG just running on the gasoline engine. Unless youre a full-time city driver, hybrids dont make economic sense. Normal drivers will never save enough in gas to make up for the higher purchase and maintenance costs of a dual powertrain hybrid vehicle.

I can believe this cause my 2003 Acura TL type-s was supposed to get only 19 in the city and 29 on the highway with the detune NSX engine at 260 horsepower and weighting around 3500 pounds. Now this is on a 17. 1 gallon fuel tank. In the city I was getting around 400 miles now that was almost on an empty tank but on the highway was was getting 350 miles to half tank driving at around 77 miles an hour.

When manual shifting feels notchy, that means the valve cover bolts inside the transmission pan need s retorqueing to specs. Also check the shifter connections to the trannie. Also change the trannie fluid. Maybe remove the pan and see if theres chunks of metal on the pan indicating transmission is compromised. Put new new filter, pan gasket on and fluids

He can make U-turns in residential streets? Look at the width of the street A lot of cars could make U-turns there. Here in London, my residential street has cars parked both sides and only room for one car to pass between them But that looks like California suburbs so I guess they have lots of space to build very wide roads.

I couldn't understand what car he had before that was so unreliable, anyone catch that? Biggest drawback of these is you need very special tires to get the super mileage and that makes 'em quite a bit more expensive than another tire of same size. RichE San Diego
