Today we accompany a very rare locomotive on Swiss railways, a former class 1042 locomotive of the Austrian federal railways, as it pulls an empty sugar train from the sugar refinery in Frauenfeld / Islikon, towards the German border in Basel. Unfortunately the video is quite jittery at times. I decided to use it all the same, as it is presently very rare seeing this locomotive in operation in Switzerland and the view of the back of the train is very nice. One section that was completely unusable just before Winterthur was replaced by footage from another trip in summer - the second video now with a season change. I would like to create some videos in the future with all seasons during 1 trip. What are your thoughts? For those of you who appreciate smoother videos, I will be uploading the trip again in the future in 4K 60p without any shaking issues. The trip continued after Kaiserstuhl, however in a different configuration: If you'd like to donate, please click the following link. I near 20 years used train with this typ 1042 and enjoyed way of working.
But I never heared so offen times switching of air gap switch, whitch could destroy lifetime of technic?
Sorry, do not want to hear such strange way of steering and working, even I expect this video would be nice to see.
Standard is to hear one step/switch and increase speed, next step/switch. .. .
My heart is like bleeding.
May be missing maintenance?

A pleasurable trip through Switzerland, especially at at time when a crisis is arising across the world. It is comforting to know that you are going to upload more such videos at such a time when the morale is low due to the ongoing crisis. Take care and keep yourself safe at all times.

Great video! Question, though, what is the ticking sound that's present? I get the other sounds (tapping, but the ticking (like a clock) is something I've always heard in Swiss (and I guess in this case, Austrian, too) locomotives or EMUs. Just not sure what it is?

1960s technology in action today. What other transport would have such longevity? I'd hate to have that noise going on around me for any length of time. I turned the volume down on playback. As Spock often said 'Live long and prosper'.

Personally I'd rather have each run in it's present season. Not sure I would care for mixed seasons in one video. Just my 2 cents worth. Whatever, please keep doing these videos! I love them, especially the clips of looking back!

The noise of your speed regulator let's us know how the old train works and we see the action of the train as well hearing your hard work to maintain a proper speed. Thank you for showing us your daily hard working life.

Another cab ride? Sure, anytime in Switzerland anyways. Love the loco and the track work is fantastic locos in north America are so noisy compared to yours! Relaxing thanks for another great video

How many wagons? I love seeing current and former industries the railway serves or has serve, if you were a model railroader, there would be plenty of idea's you could create from this.
