Hi folks, Today we are travelling between Warsaw, Poland to Vienna, Austria onboard a PKP sleeping car. At least this was the initial plan. - - TRIP INFORMATION - RECORDED IN JULY 2021 Railroad company: PKP and ÖBB Train type: EP07 and several PKP coaches. The composition will change overnight. From: Warsaw Gda-ska to Vienna Hbf Time: 12h00 (In theory lol) Price: 139- - 164$
Date: 2024-01-09

movie added just a month ago, but you can see you recorded it a few years ago, why do I think so. ? the PKP Intercity Chopin line has not been running for about 2 years, instead there is the PKP Intercity Sobieski line which is a train of a much worse standard, remembering the time of the game you could go to Vienna in a sleeping car, now there are no such, you can buy a ticket in the classroom The only difference between the track and the 2nd class is the price, Wifi is there but it does not work, you could list all the flaws one by one, because I do not see the advantages, every time I traveled by train I had some problems, from the delay, which is the norm in the Polish State Railways, which made me late for the last one a train to Salzburg, through a burning car, and the total lack of a dining car and a 1st class car despite the purchased ticket, so I had to stand in the 2nd class crossing all the way from Vienna to Warsaw because all compartments were occupied. of course, after constant complaints and court cases, PKP announced that they would run new trains, but from 2030 at the earliest,

I had similar situation years ago - TLK train got stuck in the heat of the summer, for 3 hours, no A/C of course, in the middle of nowhere. Some people left the train with a radio and made a tiny disco next to the track. One guy went to the nearest shop, bought some bottles of beer and been giving them for free (I got one. We were also getting bottles of water from conductors - my neighbor and I went on a quest to the front of the train, to bring one bottle for an old lady who felt unwell due the heat. -
It was a bit annoying at first, but it the end it's a really good memory. And the best beer I ever had!

If the Eu44 ES64U4 Had ATB EG/MG ETCS PZB LZB Sifa SHP installed it would have replaced the NS1600 locomotive at Arnhem all the way to Warsaw via Oberhausen-Duisburg-Dusseldorf Wuppertal-Hagen (Rhein Ruhr Osten route) Dortmund Helmstedt West Germany Leg The DDR (French RDA Republique Democratique Allemand) section is Marienborn Magdeburg East Berlin Frankfurt Am Oder where it enters Peoples Republic of Poland (VR Polen) Warsaw Frankfurt Am Oder line when Jan Kipura runs again. EU44 Poland is also called OBB1216

Trains itself aside, biggest problem with train in Poland, are railways. Rails are old, broken and begin patched up half of time. Traveling any longer distance in Poland by train is dreadful experience. As much i like traveling by rail (more space and more freedom) i feel dread when i have to spend more that 2h in a train. Some wise men just buy new trains that drive slow, and wait because railway is begin patched up. Well, in this insanity is a method, you wait in better condition tho.

You inspired me to spend my holidays like this. This is perfect. I love trains but in recent years I didn-t have many trip opportunities, so I thought - I still have friends from other cities that I only talk to via the Internet and it would be perfect to meet them again. So unless the world crashes down this is what I-m gonna do this summer. And the nostalgia bringing back memories about the trains I took years ago, the views of Poland in a summer sunset light. Ecstatic!

When it comes to a hard mattress - it's a matter of local preferences and traditions. As early as the 19th century, Jules Verne noticed in the novel -Michel Strogoff, Le courier du tzar- that in the East people like hard beds which are unacceptable for the people from the West.
I live in the 21st century and I don't like too soft beds and armchairs. -

What accident are you reffering to? I haven't heard of anything recently. Also you had the worst car possible - type 112Am, a half-first, half-second class, with seats of the latter being the most uncomfortable form them all, railfans call them -planks- for this reason and avoid them if possible (even if they have seats reserved there.

2: 02 Great to see Gdanska station in your video too. I was there a year ago for a train to Gdansk, also diverted there, normally from another station. I bought ticket from the counter, communication in English in Poland was normally so tough I couldn't understand the lady behind counter when she spoke fluent English -

EIP is not -high speed- due to speed limits on the tracks - it is quicker just because it doesn't stop so often on stations.
As for the shower: there have to be that notice, because one can not use public showers when c-19 circous is on (but it is only a notice - nobody has turned the water off and nobody really cares.

reply

You were entitled to a partial refund because of the delay and change of standard. It is done to everyone who asks. All you need to do is fill a form on a web page with some details about your ticket and a one sentence description. You have some time to do this (probably 3 months but I don't know.
reply

Polish EIP Isn't high speed train, just premium. At this moment, it can reach v=200 kph on few main lines.
First objective material about polish operator >. Delays, mess, chaos and no help from train mgr if something goes wrong. -Tylko polscki, no english-.

If it would have been a German train it would just have been canceled and you would be told to go next day and say: Live with it that you have no bed. It is possible! As Deutsche Bahn sold all night trains, they tell you to sit all night long. Lol

I watch ur videos almost regularly & I love all of these videos. A prominent reason for loving these videos is the way of describing by sub-titles. Btw, I m from India. I think u should come to India & travel this huge country by trains. U-ll love it.

Katowice- Vienna in 1981, they checked my luggage, I was ball of nerves. When we crossed Czechoslovakia-Austria border. it was a huge relive, went straight to refugee camp and than USA. Time changed, now you can go anywhere, anytime.

You were quite unlucky, as most of the IC coaches are equipped with A/C. Just not this one. Imo it's still better to have the chance to open the window when it's warm outside, than having cold A/C blasting on your neck.
reply

I live in Poland and I can say that you were very lucky or maybe I'm unlucky but back to the topic you were very lucky because always when I want to travel by train my train gots cancelled; -;

I took the Chopin and Sobieski sleepers many times, even before Schengen took hold. It was a bit hard to sleep, I must admit. The daytime trip is quite attractive, too.

Welcome to Poland baby. When I was on train station, ma'am announced:
-Train -I don't remember a number- is late 456 minutes. -
I said to myself: -Oh my God-

reply

Fantastic report trip. But shame PKP IC that sleeping-car was going from Katowice, not from Wsrsaw. And there was not info ( earlier ) Greetings ---

It actually happened to me in the UK, getting out of a train due to a CL failure.
Sadly, It lasted 6 hours and travel itself was horrendous. :(

Can't help comparing that's the trip from Tucson to Los Angeles is currently $39 and the whole thing would take no more than 3 hours.
reply

I definitely would-ve asked for a refund. That could-ve been a good trip because the equipment was there but it just wasn-t working
reply

Somewhat Ironically due to a traction damage you took a train from Warsaw to Vienna via actusl historic Warsaw-Vienna railway.

-I would have taken the bed sheets from the top bunk to cover myself - then sleep on top of the bed sheets on the bottom bunk. -

I am sure if this level of service would happen in Japan all the staff and railway management would commit ritual suicide -

I think that in 14: 01 you have witnessed the results of the tornado, that happened in Czech Republic in June 2021

5: 53 there is an AC below a window. It is was not working because you kept the window open.

This seem expensive. Bus during daytime+a hotel is probably a better option.
