The Bergen Line was connected between East and West on November 27th 1909. The Line has undergone some changes over the years, but most parts are still intact. The biggest changes was done around Finse where they shortened the line by constructing two tunnels to increase the regularity and speed. The Line was hard to keep open during the winter as the track would be completely snowed down. This happened even when they were running two rotaries that was running back and forth. I was running train 602 this day from Voss to l. The trains fro Oslo was heavily delayed due to signalling problems at the depot in Oslo. The mountain pass also presented it from it's best winter wonderland! Winter is finally here! Just as a final note on the privatization ticket prize increase debacle. It isn't actually true. The ticket prizes is set by the State, thus you actually pay the same prize after privatization as before. Anyone who has actually read the news stories would know this fact, and that the true problem is a partial loss of ticket interoperability, where a discounted ticket from one operator isn't valid outside that operators area. That means that anyone who buys tickets weeks in advanced for more than one line, will have to pay for two separate tickets for each line, which can amount to as much as twice the prize as before privatization. But even having to pay between 400 and 600 kroner for a ticket divided by two different operators, is still much cheaper than just jumping on the train and paying the full line prize for the whole journey, which can be at least twice the discounted prize, even after the partial loss of ticket interoperability.

I've heard your lovely voice for the first time. - - I'd wondered what was behind those doors in the cliffs, now I know, power station! I think your government is making a terrible mistake going to franchised rail services. Just look at the mess our rail system is in, here in the UK, the track is owned by one company, and the different routes are owned by different companies. The companies are all there to make as much profit as they can as fast as they can, and to hell with the passengers, but Network Rail, who own the track, say you can't run that train on MY track, it's the wrong colour - or it's out of gauge - meaning the track has moved, and they can't be bothered fixing it! And so on! Or they sudden; y decide to place a work-order on a stretch, (the proper name escapes me) and stop ALL trains from running - often at a peak time, or in the holday periods. Chaos results!

Good to hear your voice. Very mellow, it adds another dimension. A voice that would suit children's audiobooks I said to myself. If you can manage a character voice now and then it might be a good sideline occupation for you. If you are going to keep up the voice overs a short description now and then of what we are seeing, rivers, lakes etc, would be cool. Not too often or you will start to repeat yourself after a while if you stay on the same route. Good luck with the new management. We don't have nationalised railways in the UK, just franchises. Labour would consider it but we'll have to see if they can pull of a shock victory tonight!

Hello dearest Herder. Really enjoying all of your cab rides. Particularly enjoyed the lovely, velvety tones of your voiceover. You are revealing yourself to us bit by bit! What next, a photo shoot, calendar maybe? Seriously though, I hope all works out well for you with your new operator. Here in the UK, our most successful franchisee (and they really did do a decent job) was Virgin Trains West Coast. As I write this (Sunday) they lost their franchise yesterday - something to do with the underwriting of railway pensions. So yes, down to politics, politics. Keep warm, my lady, keep the flask filled with hot coffee and wear the scarf!

Hello HCG! His voice is very beautiful with a German accent as is common with Scandinavians. Really keeping the Bergen Line open for much of the 20th century was a challenge with the constant snowfall. What puzzles me is that apparently the line has not been suffering long interruptions because of snow in recent decades. If my perception is true, what is the cause? More efficient rail cleaning, tunnels etc or ongoing climate change? What do you think about this? Congratulations from Brazil.

Hopefully you can still make videos with the new owner in charge. I am curious to see if there will be any re-branding, new paint jobs on the locomotives and passenger cars.

I always expected you to have a Hordaland accent, but you're probably just stationed out west?
It's nice with the narrative. It adds an extra dimension to the story.

OMG! She narrates! I missed this premier. Well, I hope HCG continues to do so in the future. Personally, I am really curious about the origin of her HinduCowGirl handle.

Very nice video and thank you for the very usefull info in narration. In Norway, you use ETCS or another security system?
