The government of the day will have to a make a choice between removing the wires or buying new dual voltage electric locos and filling in the electrification gaps. Predicting the actions of politicians is harder than predicting the weather. I think you will see electrification completed in your life time as to remove the wires would be political suicide.

15 Is a great age. Old enough to understand, yet young enough to have most of your life ahead of you. I think the day of reckoning for NIMT electrification will come when the current electric locos are life expired.
