Hello. The 3+1 seat configuration is absolutely awesome for a couple travelling with one kid. It is much better than sitting in a club 4 with a stranger, or with the aisle in-between you and your spouse. Actually, I think it is a god idea to have some coaches configured that way. Nice trip report mate!

Superbe video.

The reason why Lyon airport is not used a lot by sncf is that it is way too far from Lyon downtown. You must catch a taxi or take a ultra expensive trammay. For someone who wants to travel in lyon, I strongly recommend to choose a stop in Part dieu or Perrache, lyon airport is too far
reply

It does look very cramped at first sight, but there does seem to be a reasonable amount of space. No catering through, is that right?
Three abreast seats perhaps ok for a commuter train, but for a long distance high speed train: I don't think so.

Europe has so many low cost train companies competing with each other and the national railways. In the U. K. we don-t have that. Due to ticket prices being set and competition laws meaning the franchises have a monopoly it isn-t possible.
reply

I wish we had a competitor for eurostar as I think there prices are to expensive, so always taking the plane fom UK, but Ryanair is not my favourite airline.
I would love to travel on this from London to Tours or Le Mans

The girl smoking by the train door is the reason why the stereotype about the smoking French is alive and kicking! -
That, and the fact that France has, by far, the highest prevalence of tobacco smokers in the G7! --

reply

6: 42 Actually it's vice versa: if you go this direction (from the French Riviera northbound to Paris, the train at Marseille switches from 1500V (low speed line) to 25000V (entering the LGV Mediterranee high speed line.
reply

2: 22 interesting how in France you can smoke so close to a train on a platform! That would be ilegal in the U. K. and rightly so. It-s disgusting. You shouldn-t have to walk past smokers to get on a train
reply

Why is france do you have queue inside and board the train like it is a plane? You get the train instead of a plane so you don-t have to go through all of that. I do not get it. Can someone explain?

Honestly, I wish they-d develop such a network across the EU. Would make visiting my friends from the east so much better environmentally. And who doesn-t like a good and calm TGV journey!
reply

De todos los modelos de alstom del TGV Atlantique me quedo con el S-100 de Renfe, el mejor interior de todos con diferencia que el de Thalys y SNCF.
reply

The seats are the same as those used on Electrostar commuter trains in the UK, but with larger folding tables. How firm do you remember them being?
reply

About that lady smoking just outside the train: is it common in Europe? I can't believe public smoking is allowed in France
reply

Nice video man! What is the process of the inOui take over since it's been announced? Really love the views from these trains!
reply

I wish there were such a train network in my country, or at least some lines. We've got no trains at all actually.
reply

Closing the platform 10 minutes before departure, what a joke. Completely degrades the benefit of high speed rail.
reply

Excellent trip report!
Those three seats together are -junk- two is enough!
Thanks for sharing! :): ): )

reply

Lyon st exupery is not used a lot because to go to lyon city center you have to take a tram that costs 10 euros.
reply

The livery is stunning and so are your videos.
What do you make of the SNCF announcement Jingle.

reply

Another great video with funny commentary. You didn-t wish the little blue boy goodnight though. -
reply

3 seats are crap on a train - unless you are traveling with children.
No food service offerings?

reply

The longer captions don-t stay on- screen long enough to read them. How much did this trip cost?
reply

Your Video description has a mistake 125 mph is about 200 km/h correct would be 186 mph
reply

Didn't realise they had their own trains. Thought they were just cheaper tgv tickets
reply
