welcome to this trip report bound to Mùnchen Hbf with OBB Railjet. - TRIP INFORMATION - Railway company: ÖBB Railjet Train type: Siemens Taurus and Viaggio coaches From: Wien to München N° of train: RJX 60 Duration: 4h00 Price: 79

Fun fact:
In German railway code there are only two classes (1st and 2nd.
As soon as the train crosses the German border, you-re allowed to use the business class seats with a first class ticket.
If you-re traveling e. g. Munich-Vienna you may book Munich-Salzburg in 1st class, Salzburg-Vienna in business.
That way you can spend the whole journey in business, but save a lot of money
(Business Class Upgrade costs easily +100-)

This past June I was in Europe with some family. We rode the train from Munich to Vienna. It was something I wanted to do on our trip which was ride a train. It was a very interesting experience riding a train in Europe. We stayed overnight in Vienna, and we had such a great time exploring the city. It was a dream of mine since I was young to go to Europe, and it was incredible to live it

this video shows exactly why we have such rubish trains nowadays in Austria and many other parts of the world. the producer of the video travels first class, has now idea what makes a good train and all is good for him, even the funny design of the toilets. story but you should fly, its better for you. cheaper.

Awsome. Vienna HBF, platforms, OBB entering the platform, its exterior color scheme, interior, online ordering of snacks, no words. OBB is paradise on wheels. Connecting two historical and architecturally beautiful cities. Munich is amazing. Love it. Great video. Thank u. Love from India

Like your video but the captions are terrible. Too small, too fast and on top of it in White- which makes them not readable or hard to read about 50% of the time. Add that to the tiny font and fast switching and you have me at the point of not caring to watch your videos anymore.

Hi, I have seen several of your videos today (back to back. I like the videos and your review, however the fact that we have to read and the video is in motion makes us dizzy. I suggest it will be best to put some audio or try to show the text in some different form.

Oh, I miss traveling. Took the same train from Vienna to Munich on a trip with friends and my parents. It was pretty comfortable so smooth. I could do some work. I forgot how smooth it was until I can back to the US and tried to do same on Amtrak. -

In the first two weeks of this month I visited Europe and OBB was the one rail network I truly loved. Yes, Thalys and DB have fast trains but the comfort on both Cityjet and Railjet was unbelieveable. Truly enjoyed traveling by train in Austria.
reply

I'll be honest. The railjet is pretty good (I used it on a short Wien-Budapest ride, but the Regiojet has the same comfort level with lower prices. Or if you talk about the prices, just cheap. 0. 8 euro for a coffee, or a tasty chees cake

Seeing this I understand why the u. k wants to leave the e. u, because the e. u are too advanced for the 3rd world uk. Uk trains are slow, uncomfortable and extremely late so personally i see europe better without the uk.

Travelled on a Railjet from Zurich to Innsbruck in first class I agree this service is top of it-s class clean, comfortable, professional staff more railways should follow OBB-s example very well done Austria.

Dammn, last time I visted Wien I was comming back to Prague in first class RailJet (For some reason it was cheaper than second class on that particular service) and I didnt know abut the lounge. Well, maybe next time.
reply

I wish Athens Central station was like this. Unfortunately we have a population of 10 million in greece and low ridership, but I hope both grow so Athens has nice station like this.
Cheers from Greece!

I travelled in the RailJet twice, from Budapest to Vienna and Vienna to Prague, and they were probably my best train journeys ever.
Nice review, also can you travel in Indian trains once?
Thanks: D

reply

Like the 2nd class. For first I would still prefer the ICE. But I like the online food ordering and the business class (confusing name, though. Reminds me of the Grand Class on Shinkansen.

Czech blue-white RailJets operated by CD on the route Vienna - Prague are much better then those operated by austrian OBB - and the FOOD in restaurant car is simply amazing!
reply

I completely agree! The RaiiJet is a superb train, especially in 1st lass. Its only real competitor is the D. B ICE3, which also is wonderful, and very melodic from its electronics!
reply

I like Railjet, except the lounge onboard. And there is sometimes issues with reservations. It sometimes doesn't show on the seat label and causes misunderstandings.

Travelled in August 2022 from Linz to Munich in the same Railjet, but second class seating.
Both times it was quite full - which proves that the concept works: D

reply

One thing i found out on a recent trip is booking on Hungarian Railways website is quite a bit cheaper for exactly the same seating / product. Thank me later --

Very nice trains. The new Siemens coaches used on Florida's Brightline service and now being introduced on some Amtrak routes are based on these coaches.
reply

Is there a railway from Munich international airport to Vienna international airport? Is there a stop over and do the operator speak in English? Thanks
reply

Crew in DB is horrible, even staff in ICEs usually is rude, lazy and doesn't speak any English, so I didn't expect to hear something good about these guys
reply

Did you know the Siemens Taurus locomotives play a musical scale when they pull out. Love it! We need locomotives like that here in the USA.
reply

I liked the video, but to be honest, I would be rather disturbed by somebody simply going through the whole train and filmeing all the time
reply

I just wondered if the Prague - Munich Railjet route via Linz is possible, would be great occasion to travel on one of these)
reply

You should have traveled to Bregenz to see more mountains! It's very likely that there would also have been more snow in December: )
reply

Nice! Do they show you what sears don't have windows when you book? Is the entire restaurant menu available at your seat, too?
reply

I love Vienna, lived there and Salzburg for 15 years of my life. My biggest dream is to go home 1 more time. That is my bucket list.
reply

It's hard to imagine America once had a rail transport culture. Nowadays it's all Europe when comes to efficient railways
reply

3: 23 Wow, single-axle flat freight cars. I haven't seen those since my childhood days of watching Thomas The Tank Engine.
reply

The seat pitch is better on every other Seat of the first class you just ahd luck and reserved the baddest seat possible. xD
reply

Disappointed there is no complimentary food and drink for this class of travel though, or is that just a UK thing?
reply

Now we have Simply Railway! All we need now is Simply Highway -
This is a nice video though, keep it up!

So the things I constantly get annoyed with are the best in the world. Really puts stuff into perspective
