Meiringen was the destination of the train I had caught from Interlaken. I had a short wait before catching my next train, giving me time for a coffee, as I walked down the platform a single carriage train arrived. Curiosity got the better of me and I walked towards this little train to find out where it had come from. The driver was very amiable, suggesting I take a ride to the end of the line and he would have me back in time to catch my train. So I purchased a ticket from the on-board ticket machine and sat in the passenger seat next to the driver. Where else in the world can passengers ride with driver? Sit back and enjoy the view with me as we set off down this scenic local branch line

I loved it! Everything I could see and experience was just great. Seeing how the crossing gates block the whole road (sorely needed in the US) to how clean the surrounds are kept and the mountains was a fantastic eyeful. But the one unnerving thing thing though was the man appearing out of nowhere at 13: 48.
Thank you for leaving in the long tunnel on the return trip. In that tunnel there are what appear to be cavities along the left side. Is there any significance to them ie escape tunnels or just the way the rock broke during construction? The sound the train was making when getting up to speed after a stop reminded me of the sound the flying saucers made in the 50s movie, Earth Verse The Flying Saucers. The two sound the same to me. If the train cars haven't changed too much since 58ish I think we have a match. I'm grateful to you for these shots and to the engineers for allowing the cameras to make these possible. Outstanding any way I can see it. Thank you.
I know it was in the editing to shorten the stop. Or was it?

This line may change drastically by 2025 if the proposal to build the Grimselbahn - which would link Meiringen to Oberwald (on the MGB Disentis - Zermatt line) via an upgraded MIB and a new tunnel, permitting through running between Interlaken Ost and Zermatt/Chur/St. Moritz - is built. In February this year, Cantons Bern and Valais public-ally backed the scheme. Now a decision is awaited on funding by the Swiss Federal Government, but if the scheme comes to pass, Glacier Expresses may be running on this line in the next decade!

Lovely, thanks. This has been my ride to work (Innertkirchen to Zurich, once a week, for 4 Y, 1 per Week) some time ago. Nice to see and ride it in the memories again. It was a nice time, living for the weekend in Innertkirchen in a Chalet and Hiking the boots of the feet. If you have chance of visiting the area: you won't be sorry at all. you'll love it. Thanks for the ride!

Nice driver, nice trip! Great run-up to the tunnel and the river was stunning, good trout spot perhaps. The scenery is of course the usual stunning views one expects of Switzerland. If you need someone to carry your bags let me know!
Some of those stations look like they could be cold in the winter, not to mention windy. Thanks for the video.

Everything is so clean and in place with NO graffiti! By the way, how is it that the ride is so quiet even though it's steel wheels against steel rails? I wish I was younger and had the money to visit Switzerland and surrounding countries but these videos are the next best thing, thank you.

If you get off at the Aareschlucht station you can walk through a deep stone gorge that the Aare river runs through. There is a station midway through the first tunnel and a stop at the other end of it. It s definitely worth the trip to Meiringen.

Thank you very much! You brought me back to the places I love.
Innertkirchen Grimseltor - last but one stop on the way to Innertkirchen. Here is the bus which takes you to Triftbahn and than you may take a hike to Trift Brucke.

I don't think the country ever has a bad hair day. The scenery is always pretty and the countryside so well-maintained. Gracias por su video. Saludos, desde Colonia Centro Historico, Puebla, Mexico, DerRobMann sends.

What views I have seen from Drivers View are great, but leave much of the views unavailable with a fixed camera. What about some drivers actions and views of the consist? That embodies a cab view, in my estimation.

Did this one last year. We walked through the Aare Gorge and got the train back at the smallest station in the world, just an electric door in the wall of the mountain behind which the train stops in the tunnel!
