This video features three different excursion trains that were run on the Fillmore and Western Railroad in between Santa Paula, CA and Fillmore, CA. In the first sequence, recently restored 2-8-0 14 (Ex Duluth and something) departs Santa Paula Station on a very cold January afternoon in 2011. This was the locomotive's Return To Steam Special excursion - one of the locomotive's first public trip after being restored. Fast forward a few months to late March, 2011. The weather is somewhat warmer now and the signs of spring are apparent in the various forms of plant life. On a special Railfest 2011 excursion, F7A 100 (Ex- CNW) heads west on the outskirts of Fillmore, enroute to Santa Paula. The train is passing through characteristic southern California Orange groves, a once common site throughout this part of the state. Finally, Ex- Southern Pacific Alco 4009, repainted into the bloody nose paint scheme, leads a regular weekend excursion in August of 2012. This train was supposed to be pulled by the steam locomotive but mechanical issues sidelined the locomotive last minute

its ex duluth and north eastern 14. And here's its history as of now
14 was built by Baldwin in 1913 for the Duluth and Northeastern Railroad until the early 60-s when it was taken out of service. Around 1962, 14 was moved to the Black Hills Central Railroad (1880 train) in hill city South Dakota but never ran due to many reasons. It sat there until the dodge city Kansas railroad took it in the late 80-s early 90-s for the original purpose of restoring it. Again never happened, it just sat there to rust until 1999 when it-s current owner of the Fillmore and Western Railway Dave Wilkinson purchased the locomotive. It traveled to California by train on a flatcar and restoration started right away. Their biggest problems however were finding a way to switch it from an coal burner to an oil burner, but to their luck they found blueprints in Texas on how to. They acquired that and finished the restoration on December 5, 2010 when 14 steamed for the first time in nearly 50 years/5 decades. However in 2013 it went out of service due to some boiler sheet problems and after 2 years 14 came back into service in late 2015 continues to operate each year on the line mainly for their railfest event in late April, lador day weekend and around christmas time where 14 is dressed up with lights and goes all the way to a metrolink station.

nice video Mike, I got to visit the railroad myself earlier this year. By The Way, as for #14's previous owner, 14 came from the Duluth & Northeastern Railroad in Minnesota.
