Take a look at Amtrak engine 184, resplendent in the Phase IV paint scheme for Amtrak's 40th Anniversary in 2011, as it pulls the Pacific Surfliner along the southern California coast! This was Amtrak's 4th paint scheme, making its debut in 1993. It was relatively short lived, and by 2001, it was being phased out by Amtrak's modern Acela Phase 5 paint scheme. At the end, you will see a bonus clip of an Amtrak locomotive in the phase IV paint scheme that was never repainted. So take a ride down the coast in the Socal Sunshine!

I always enjoy watching the Pacific Surfliner videosvery much. I ride the Pacific Surfliners when I-m home in the San Diego area from San Diego to Los Angeles & Oxnard for visits there. I alternate my visits between Los Angeles & Oxnard every other visit home. The Pacific Surfliner from San Diego all the way to San Luis Obispo is the Civilized & best way to travel in Southern California. I also travel long distance on Amtrak as train travel is my number one choice of travel in the U. S.

Heritage Unit 184 now resides on the East Coast as a Washington DC based locomotive along with Heritage Unit 130. Us DC area railfans including myself have caught both units on various trains such as the Palmetto, Carolinian, Silver Services, and Northeast Regionals

Great video. As an Amtrak engineer, I ran her once on train 43 from Philly to Harrisburg. All the buffs were out that day. Haha
