MARC or the Maryland Area Regional Commuter service operates 3 commuter lines connecting many portions of the state of Maryland with the U. S. capital city Washington D. C. The commuter service primarily serves the region between Baltimore and Washington. In this video, we will look at the Brunswick and Penn lines as we see diesel and electric powered commuter trains running to and from Washington

Your video is excellent! However, you describe that -MARC primarily service between Baltimore and Washington DC. - That is not quite accurate. You show videos trains on the Brunswick line explanation about one something between Washington DC and Martinsburg, West Virginia. It is a heavily traveled MARC route. It might be better served to say -Mark serves the entire Washington, DC region. - Thank you.

Most commuter train lines run mix and match - look at SEPTA (the only other commuter train service I have any experience with. MARC's Penn Line (which runs the southern side of the NEC - and thus is MARC's moneymaker - and I don't sway it because I ride it) does mix and match.

I notice that most of these are on the MARC West line (Union Station west via Silver Spring to WV) and is thus only partially electrified (and non-electrified north of Silver Spring, hence the use of Chargers - which can run either way

I noticed some of those trains are going backwards, i. e. the cab car is facing the opposite direction from where the train is going. How and why do they do that?

Hey Mike, would you like to make a video on SC-44 Charger locomotives on Maryland Area Regional Commuter and another ft. ACS-64's on SEPTA?
