Thank you for keeping your cats supervised so they don-t add to the death count in ground nesting and other vulnerable wild bird species -
Say how much wood you guys go through last year? For an average indoor temp? Just curious, the dampness is IMO more predict how cold you feel up in the PNW. I-m just south of you guys on Olympic Peninsula Washington state. Most of which is a remote National park. The weather can be pretty wild

Controlling mosquitoes. little known is the method used by Disney to control mosquitoes - their -Disney Land- Florida locations.
Very low concentrations of garlic in water will drive them off. these concentrations are so low a person cannot smell it at all. also limit standing water where possible.
Disney came by this info from hiring an expert who had worked in central America (when panama canal was being built)

I used to do a lot of work with poles like this. I made a peeler that looked similar to a flat shovel but made out of 1/4- plate. it was 5- wide and bent on a bit of an angel. Made it fasten to a pole about the size of shovel handle and as long. It made peeling poles much faster than with a draw knife. Those little poles you are working with took less that 5 minutes to peel and knots were easily removed. :)

So you guys are really okay with tin roofs? It's so noisy come on you guys haven't thought of anything that would be quieter. Once you have a tin roof you need rubberized Rock. Like the stuff they use on truck beds Canadian tire has it in liters or gallons roll it on spray whatever you like.

There is no use in tuning into -live- rain videos so one can sleep. Just watch your videos instead! Rain and rain sounds in a beautiful forest. I am from Oregon, and I thought I knew what constant rain was. but these videos are something else!

Love the whole idea of off grid. As well as making it interesting and informative, you also succeed in demystifying it.
I think a lot of people romanticize it, but it's good hard work. HARD work, but worthwhile
