First off, thank you Shane, for sharing your personal story at the top of this piece its brief, but impactful.
I will say that this is an interesting take, but like others have said here this one, more so than other pieces in this series feels incomplete. That said, its an interesting buttress to your episode on digital blackface. Both looked at how the internet is going from niche to mainstream, and as it seems, is swallowing up and mainstreaming previously niche, small communities, and putting them in the forefront of the public conversation.
I wonder about the effects of this. Its strange to say, but I wonder that while we celebrate the increased visibility of these groups, and the promotion of tolerance, is something being lost for the next generation? Will honest, serious conversations among these groups devolve into simple gifs and memes that we continue to just laugh at? Theres so much to delve into.
Any suggestions on others who have delved into this conversation or others that inspired you as you put this together?

Candy Darling ( 0: 29 ) in this video is NOT a drag queen or transvestite but actually a transgender woman. Its pretty offensive that you refer to her as a drag queen. She lived full time as a woman, began transitioning and just was a woman, not a man in any way.
Also 1: 11 is Sateen Music, who has also transitioned and is a woman. A lot of these people are not drag queens at all.

The drag portrayed online is not real drag, same with drag race. You really need to go to a gay bar for gay people to experience real drag, or do it yourself
