We saw the movie. It could have been a great classic historical American movie, even, dare I say, a patriotic one too, without being corny. The mission shots were great. The movie grinded to a halt with the depressing non-supportive feminist type wife. Those parts slowed the movie because they were boring and done with shaky 16mm cameras, however they did use IMAX cameras for the moon shots and some of the other mission shots. The wife turns into a raging feminist by balling out the NASA engineers that they did not know what they are doing and the were boys playing with balsa wood making planes. The Trump hating director did his best to not make this near patriotic and also did his best to not make it so obvious that he did not want any American patriotism in it. One wide shot that did show the American flag on the moon, you had to squint your eyes to see it, and my brother, sitting next to me, said at the end of the movie, They didn't even show the American flag on the moon. They should have hired an American military vet for the director. It was worth seeing because of the good scenes of the mission part, however see it only on IMAX theatre for the wide screen and sound.

I know Chazelle might have chosen to analyze this scene to stick with the narrative that this is a human, intimate story but I felt quite the opposite. It was very exciting and had it come from (for lack of a better example) James Cameron, I would have been content with that but as this is going to be an Oscar contender (for best actor and actress) I was disappointed by how superficial it was. The movie always felt on the cusp of exploring who Armstrong really was and his family life but I felt all that was drowned out with continuous montages, the longest scenes were in the cockpits of space craft. Otherwise, the landing sequence (especially in IMAX) was beautiful.

This movie portrayed the struggles of the Armstrong family,
tragedies that occurred & taxpayer cost of getting America on the Moon first.
Didn't focus on the triumphs/ patriotic spirit as is Typical of those who see their cup as Half full.

Moon landing was a government hoax. It is impossible for any creature to pass through the Van Allen Radiation belts that cover earth. They begin at 1000 above the earth and are 25, 000 miles thick.

This looks like the scene where Neil (and his even more depressing wife, Janet) explain to the kids that he will, in fact, be mounting the Soviet N-1 rocket to the Moon instead of the Saturn V.

They totally missed the adventure of the space race. This film was dark, joyless, morose. And endless, poorly lit, out of focus, shaky, close up cinematography. What a disappointment.

Don't waste your money. Nothing like Apollo 13. The filming technique used to try to capture the 1960's by using a home video style of filming ruined it for me.
