OKAY HI CANADIAN HERE: I just have to add that as per law, as Butts stated in his testimony (and I've watched both) the government was definitely looking to settle which if this only involved a tiny sum of people then that would be an issue. But I completely agree that in this scenario taking down an entire corporation is just not the answer. Don't get me wrong fraud on this scale is ASTRONOMICAL but when doing a DNC (settling-I think thats the acronym I didnt double check sorry) there would be massive parameters to meet - like firing certain people, payback on taxes, regulations around who they can work with, etc. I'll admit that the justice system is far from perfect and of course SNC would absolutely try (and maybe succeed in certain areas) to escape major backlash. But prosecution of a massive scale that would more than likely end jobs for 9000+people is ridiculous. (Of course this is my opinion)I also want to say that I went into this news thinking the prev at. General was in the right. Nobody's suprised that government's cover up fraud and participate in coercion-thats in the news everywhere right now. But of course, we have an election coming up and Spense (the conserv. Leader) is looking directly at the people who want to put our and resources into the hands of our conservative party. But instead of focusing on applications for those and resources that side of the government is weighing HEAVY on conspiracy. But as Phil mentioned this issue with this particular company has been and issue FOR YEARS. Its not new But of course because a women who stands up as female and indigenous tells a story of how the men in government told her to critically look at the case at hand and use a legal form of prosecution other than criminal prosecution she makes massive stats on the news. Coming from a woman who identifies as female and indigenous and a badass feminist I'm not a fan of the previous at. General. Had she decided prosecution was the best option after consistent and constant analysis of the additional evidence that came up all the time THEN FINE prosecute criminally. But the argument of my decision is final is only acceptable when your mom tells you no or your kids are being whiny. Please don't come for me in the comments either. i mean I welcome dissagreeing arguments but dont be jerks. This isnt a cut -and - dry case but I also dont think its as dramatic as the news is portraying it to be.

Liberal party and scandals always go hand in hand, but the interesting thing for me about this case is the abuse of authority was done to benefit people and jobs, rather than any direct personal gain on the part of any politician (other than better political standing in Quebec. It's less selfish than usual for the liberal party of Canada. Relative to past scandals, this one is pretty tame, but it's yet another liberal scandal, and that has always been their downfall (exactly what lead to 10 years of conservative government before. Trudeau wanted strong women in his party, and he got them. I hate people who stick to party lines, and love when people call out their own party's bs. A bit disappointed this will probably hand the election to the PC party, but love the strong women coming up in the liberal party. Hopefully some better leadership coming in the future, because all three main parties have the weakest leaders right now

Our country is sinking fast, since Trudeau has taken over he has been dictating, refusing to answer any questions not being responsible flooding our country with immigrants and putting them in hotels at our expense, not caring what the Canadians want. Now this is the fifth time hes been caught in trouble with the law but nobody can do anything. The scam hes in is revolves around a company in Quebec SNC-LAVALIN and many of his family friends and people he works with have stakes in the company, and the lady with the evidence is being silenced. their making Canada look like criminals and making the rest of the world lose respect for us, the list is even longer, he has nationality against each other, provinces against each other, our country has never been so divided, hopefully he gets voted out before we hit the bottom.

I am 100% proud to be Canadian, but this SNC Lavalin scandal has been all over the new stations for months now. I have a few things to say: 1. I would like to thank you, Mr Phil, for finally breaking this down and yelling me why SNC Lavalin was facing a trial in the first place. News sources near where I am I Ontario (a provincial Progressive Conservative province, but that's it's own set of issues) have been solely focused on the fact that Trudeau fcked up. The Liberals screwed up. 2. Because this has dominated the airwaves for so long, I sit back and wonder what other stories the media could be covering, instead of feeding us the same tired bull crap over and over. And 3. Would somebody please hire a stylist for Trudeau or at least someone to make sure his damn tie is straight?

The CCR5 gene, we learned in immunology class, in the fall of 2017 semester. Now in my virology class (the highest class I'll take, we have learned more about it. That's what I am getting my Ph. D. in, immunology, microbiology and virology, to cure autoimmune diseases preferably, or viruses, or diseases in general, so this is not news to me. We learned about people being immune to HIV cause of that CCR5 gene (Also CXCR4 gene is another binding site, such as CCR5 gene, if you block attachment, then the virus can't replicate, and you can be cured, that's basically how vaccines work, and also by inducing an immune response, so your acquired immune response recognizes, and memorizes it, so the next time, you won't get sick, or as sick, or won't be sick for as long, etc.

I'm from Canada and let me tell you Trudeau has saved this country; when he took over the economy was in an absolute mess thanks to conservative scandals and now he's on route to post a surplus so clearly he knows what he's doing. As for the SC lavin stuff he did nothing wrong all he did was tell her that losing 9000 jobs would hurt Canada which is true he didn't pressure her whatsoever all he did was tell her to solve the case which is her job that's what bosses do they tell people to do their job. If we're gonna federally convict Trudeau for telling someone to do their job then we might as well head down to the local Walmart and send the manager to jail as well cause apparently telling people to do their job is wrong

Canadian here - Phil (and team, Trudeau isn't some huge champion of women's rights in Canada. Seriously. The cabinet had almost half female ministers before he was elected, making his claim he would make his cabinet at least half women hollow as hell to ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about our government. Literally meant adding THREE WOMEN to make his promise happen. But people ate that shit up during the pre election in 2015. Its a joke. Everything is like this here. It sounds good to those who follow his personality of cult (and it really is, riding on the coat tails of his dad) but theyre not informed or try to be. Hear him speak for maybe 15 minutes and he stutters and blunders more than Bush junior EVER did.

I'm from Canada and just want to say I agree with what our government did. What they did was have a conversation and a different point of view that, God forbid, they expressed in a friendly healthy way. 9000 jobs might not sound like much but that's 9000 families losing a paycheck. Individuals matter too. So looking at all the options isnt a crime. This whole thing is just what happens in an era of people who love to be offended, and now its spread to the highest order even in our country. It's sad. You might not like what people say, but if it's not hate speach or coercion, then its just your opinion, and quite frankly, you can take that and shove it up your rear end.

Trudeau, Im likely to give them a pass on this. They were tied up with the nafta talks and 10 or 11 calls to one of the ministers over 4 months. I mean if there was pressure that was improper there is an ethics commission that should have been informed. Not after the fact. The former attorney general is still a federal liberal member of parliament and wants to run again under the same party. So if she gives them a pass by running under the same leadership Im finding it too grey to pick sides. We have a lot of other things to spend our political capital on. Scheer should have given the Liberals more rope, not ask for outlandish resignations. I dont see this scandal continuing
