Wow. Woman Attacked By Jaguar Apologizes, Captain Marvel Controversy, Boeing 737 Max 8 Fears Spread angelo viktor: Regardig Cap Marvel I felt the movie, in trying to establish a strong female character, sacrificed the very thing that defines strength: vulnerability. I thought the movie was good. Certainly not as bad as the worst reviews, but it had flaws. One major flaw was the one dimensional nature of its lead. I didnt personally see Carol Danvers ever show any weakness or hubris. It felt like she was a character fully formed, without flaw or depth. The subtext of her entire struggle is to control her emotions, But we never see her lack of emotional control lead to anything negative. No one gets hurt by her actions. No one is put in danger by her rash nature that the movie was trying to sell. Her being the most powerful character isnt the unbelievable part. Its her invulnerability to emotional weaknesses. i personally didnt feel like she grew at all in the movie. I write this to prove that not everyone is merely upset that there is a powerful female character (since I didnt raise that contention once) I think a lot of people, including myself, dont like that our strong female characters have to come without palpable weakness. Is weakness not the thing that highlights the strength?

Haven't seen Captain Marvel yet, going to see it this weekend, but overall I really don't care about the actresses. The first time I saw her was in Room to which I thought her acting was flat but considering what her character went through it was understandable but it made me worried about how she'd do in this movie. Since I haven't seen it yet I can't say what I think of her acting or the movie but I knew since it was announced I was going to see. I've seen every marvel movie in theatres since Iron Man 3 (though I could have seen some before that. IM3 is just the first one I remember seeing in theatres) up until current time except for Ant Man and Wasp which I missed in theatres. This movie isn't going to be any different. It is pretty much the only time I go to the theatres and it's the one thing me and my friends do together since we're all away at different schools. Whether or not the actress hates white men means nothing to me because I'm going to see it to support Marvel and all the people who worked on the movie in a fandom I enjoy, not an actress who's playing one of many characters.

Spoiler free Captain Marvel 6/10 brie didn't seem like the star of the movie every time anyone else was on screen with her. The jokes were rapid and fell flat majority of the movie. Maria tho took over every scene she was in. Sam did his sam thing, jude was believable. Easter eggs were heavy so I enjoyed those, fights got super meh at points but mostly really good. Menerva and mariaDid I mention maria? how they did mar-vell was ok but could've been waaay better(no I do not mind the change)Decent for a origin film though. This is me pushing my hate for carol danvers to the back, since I've hated her bland character writing since I was a child. Even with that being said the movie is definitely worth a watch but I wouldn't pay for it again. Oh and mariaHow I rated other marvel origin films: Captain America 8/10Thor 6/10Iron man 9/10Spider-Man homecoming 9/10

Why is it that these social justice cry babies can not understand logic or reality? They are upset that super heroes are basically white men with some exceptions. But they dont stop and think that these super heroes were all created by WHITE MEN. If women, or black people or other minorities want their own super heroes. Create them, write them, make the movies about them. Why do you feel like you need to steal everything created by white men? This is no different than the black people who claim technology is racist because all the tech companies are owned by white people and indians. If you want your own tech companies create them. All minorities seem to want to do is steal everything from white men, the people they seem to hate so much.

with the captain amrvel, saying it did well still. many places reporting large amounts of people wo pre ordered not showing up and not getting a refund. and what a surprise. from the first friday to this second friday theres a 70% drop off. Wonder woman had a %59% drop off friday to friday. but the weekedn it was more around 30-40%. if captain amrvel also has a 70% drop off over the weekend then something very susicious happened to try keep the movie from bombing on opening week and everyone deciding not to see it. if they were able to report on all these record sales in the first week and instead the news was captain marvel mediocre at best. then it would have just nose dived and lost money. It may still lose money.

Is Greg under a rock? No one, NO ONE, has had an issue with Captain Marvel being a woman. No one is upset about another female heroine. The only complaints I've seen involve: The actress's commentary, the actress selected, Marvel's apparent disdain for Marvel fans, The agenda and feel of the movie & marketing, the shady marketing. And the absolutely BS claim that Larson cares about diversity and representation when she is taking a role that should have been Rambeau instead of Danvers. Rambeau being the Captain Marvel more people would have liked to see, and who was more popular than Danvers out of the female Captain Marvels. But did we get Rambeau? No, Rambeau got downgraded to a child supporting character.

CAPTAIN MARVEL IS THE BEST I wish people could separate their feelings between actress and their characters. I hate Johnny Depp as a person, but he can act really well and I like his movies. Captain Marvel is an amazing movie because it not only gives people a look into the background and history of the Avengers and how they got started, but it is just an all around good film. Captain Marvel was portrayed wonderfully and Marvel didn't weaken her like they did with Wanda (who was nothing more than a damsel in distress in Infinity Wars and was basically useless. It's the start of a new era for Marvel in my opinion, too.

Captain Marvel was just fine for me. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I found the comedic closure off (but the jokes were ok, the whole nineties angle looked unpleasantly tacky and extra at times (but was nice at others) and I felt like the dual-narratives (origin and 90's) subtracted from either narrative getting as much attention as they could have used (but I do see why they felt that was the way to go. At the back of my mind I've the nagging questions of would I have enjoyed this more were I a woman? But who can say. I'm not unhappy I went to see it but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again

Butthurt over seeing someone else get a hero that looks like them, but thats because theyve always had heroes that look like them. As a woman, I didnt like Bries attitude either. I didnt like the over celebration of its a womans movie because everyone should be able to relate to the character or at least sympathize. Spider man is my favorite super hero, should I not relate to him because hes a male or something? And weve had so many female-led films come out in the last decade Im pretty sick of the girl power movement. I just wanna watch a good movie and not be patronized

no one cares that Bree is a woman, they care that she tried to make a superhero movie into a feminist/political statement. It's not that deep. women have been super heros before, women have been main characters before. people are acting like this has never happened and is earth-shattering or something. it's not. This is the same reason people hated the new Ghost Busters - it's not the fact that women are the main cast - it's the fact that they keep trying to make a big statement while doing it - people hate that shit. people don't like being preached at.
