I'm a university student in the UK, I went to a high-school with many international students and my current course is over 50% international students primarily from Hong Kong and mainland China. I have close friends who are in those riots, volunteering as first aiders, they say that they are overwhelmed with support from the people who aren't out on the streets. They're being given lots of supplies by friends and family. Many say that the people who aren't on the streets are mostly the older generations. I am incredibly proud of my friends for fighting for their country.

My family is orginally from Hong Kong, my mum and dad moved to the UK and I was born here, so I dont really know Hong Kong as much as I would like, but its still my motherland so it is very sad to see the city divided, I'm personally on the side of the protesters and they shouldnt pass this bill, like Phill said its a way for mainland China to chip away at our independance and Hong Kong wont be the same, yes it was a terrible crime and i dont believe he should be punished to the fullest, but the whole city/ country doesnt need to suffer with him.

Everyone keeps taking about how the paid administrative leave is just a vacation and horrible but its actually the appropriate response. Suspending him when the situation hasnt been fully investigated and the cop hasnt actually been convicted would be jumping the gun because if he turned out to be innocentwhich yes looks unlikely at this point but has happened in similar situationsthey would have wrongfully withheld income from him. As enforcers of the law, it makes sense for the department to be cautious and wait for a verdict.

My boyfriend is from China and has a degree in journalism, and one of the reasons he actively sought out positions in the US was because he feared his outspokenness against the government would make him a target. He hasn't been able to go home in three years, and right now we're scared of his visa running out and him being sent back to China. It's a very real possibility the US government won't let him come back

Hong Kong is us in a few years if things keep going the way of the New Left. This is what the silent middle majority (moderate right, centrist, and moderate left) fears: the erosion of our freedoms and rights under the guise of things that seem to have good intention. Pay attention people. Also, I'm impressed that many people can protest with very minimal violence. In the US, there would have been body bags.

I studied in HK. HK is like a kid who was kidnapped as a baby, raised by rich strangers and then returned to the original parents who are quite different to the parents who raised the kid. The kid naturally loves the family it knows and is adjusting to the new life it must lead. The British caused this when they annexed HK for 99 years while pumping China with opium to keep them down. I am also British.

so the united states are going to extradite Julian Assange to the US so they can lock him up and probably torture him and no one is criticizing them. and not a single US solider from any of the videos that Assange reveled was and never will be charged with anything. cause the best thing the US is known for is hypocrisy.

Why is no one talking about the millions of muslims in camps in China? I seriously dont understand. Was this the case for Jews back in Hitler days? Did no one cared about them until the war has ended and decades later people started feeling sorry for them and made the camps as historical monuments? Or what?

I like how some people are mad that the kid actually was of age etc. and that it shouldn't count. Ugh to catch a predator any one? Cops set up stings like this all the time with actual cops of age posing as underage people to catch and arrest these people on charges. The charges is usually the intent to.
