Video Games Are Responsible For El Paso & Dayton Mass Shootings. According To Idiots With Power. Rebecca Elting: I know I'm late to this, but I was friends with Connor and Megan in highschool. Connor was odd, but all of us band kids were. Me personally I thought he was a nice young man. He mostly kept to himself but I remember him confronting me about a personal issue he noticed I was struggling with and offered support. with that being said he himself suffered with mental issues, but we all have a lot of mental health issues. My community has seen a lot of trauma, we've been through a lot. To be honest I'm not surprised this didnt happen sooner I just would have never guessed it would have been Connor or that he would have that capability of harming innocent people including his sister and friend. I remember Connor opening up about his mental health struggles to some of us. Some nights he couldnt sleep because of voices in his head. he was scared of himself and did not want to harm people. I didnt quite know what he meant, but looking back we all failed him. We should have encouraged him to get help. I wholehearted believe this is occured from his struggles with mental illness and from the school, friends and our community failing him. He was not a monster he just did a horrific monstrous thing. There is no excuse for his actions, but I believe this is a call to America to offer more mental health resources, reduce the stigma of having mental health issues and most importantly not be afraid to try and help those suffering.

We in Germany had a school shooting in 2009, back then I can remember that the biggest reason named was playing games such as counterstrike. However, in retrospect they figured out that the boy was severely traumatized by many psychological and social problems, and the only reason he did what he did was a result of these facts and that he was capable of getting his hands on the carelessly stored guns of his father to work out his problems instead of getting help. The consequence, however, was not that games were banned, but that they pressed down hard on gun laws and restrictions how and by who guns could be bought and how they must be stored. We had four school shootings since the year 2000, and only 15 mass killing incidents total (These four cases included) since the 1950s. the figures in the US in comare are a sad sign that not only do games not at all impact on the scale, but rather the problem is with the downright hilariously easy access to guns. America will soon enough have stricter laws on how to buy a video game, than they ever had for buying guns. I mean, Walmart is already restricting game sales, but still openly sells weapons and ammunition. that's just crazy.

Oh yeah, it MUST be the video games causing violence these days, can't be anything else. I wonder what video games they played during the crusades to cause so much violence. Hitler must've been playing something really hardcore and intense to want to eradicate the Jewish population. And I bet there must've been some crazy violent games around that caused people to start slaughtering all the Native Americans too. In case some people don't get the sarcasm, that whole above statement is sarcasm. Humans have been violent for thousands upon thousands of years for various reasons, whether it be greed, religion, power, lust, etc. Human violence against other humans didn't just magically appear when video games did, and as mentioned by the ESA in the video, violent crime has gone down since video games increased in popularity and other societies with video games being played avidly don't have nearly the same levels of violence that the US has. It's not video games or violent media that are the problem, it is something wrong with the society here in the US that incites this much violence and it is just downright ignorant to pretend otherwise.

People can be violent pieces of shits. Always has been this way and always will be this way. America is especially sensitive to this as different cultures always tend to clash with each other. As much as people may not want to admit it, distrust of people who are different than us is built into our DNA. We can fight it and even overcome it, but it'll be there for a long time. It's horrible that these things sometimes happen. However, it is unacceptable to allow our rights to own guns to be attacked. It's in the constitution for a reason. As someone who would likely be dead today if not for the use of my gun for protection, I will never allow them to be taken from me. I know it's easy to feel the pain and sadness of these events and think that getting rid of all guns would solve the issue, but it wouldn't. We'd just lose our ability to defend ourselves and put all of the constitution at risk. If they can take away the right to own guns, they can take away the right to free speech. Especially when free speech is arguably the most dangerous of our rights.

On gta today. I went in the back of this guys house shot everyone at his pool party in the head and then ran down the street bludgeoning as many people as I could before the cops came and chased me then In real life I went online and uploaded my daily positive affirmations and shared a video on kids starving to raise awareness my point is People can do odd things when they feel like they can. and as a person who not only plays gta but has a thousand hours in dead by daylight and is a fan of violent video games. I think that no matter what its weird that we are such loving and kind individuals in real life but on the game we are extra violent angry and turn into different people. I can see how this may spill over for some people into real life. Especially young people who are still coming into themselves and thats all they do is fill their minds with crazy stuff half the day

This whole video games make school shooters thing is bs if you ask me there are plenty of countries where those games are being played and there dont seem to be as many school shootings. I can only really speak for Germany since this is where I live but I only remember one school shooting in my lifetime and non after that. And there are all the same games being sold and played here as in the us. Only difference, at least as it presents to me, is that gun control in Germany is way more serious. You have to get a license (which involves an exam and i believe getting your criminal record certificate) and you either have to leave your guns at the shooting range (which are usually run by a club) or you have to have a safe at home where you have to lock your guns in. If you leave your guns in the trunk of your car over night you can face serious charges.

Shootings during Obamas time in office: These shootings are related to mental issuesTrump in office: ITS CLEARLY WHITE SUPREMACY REEEESeriously trump isnt a bad presidents. LOTS of rapists and MURDERS and DRUG smugglers are Mexican illegal immigrants, and the problem with gun control and assault weapons is the fact that we already do back round checks and mental checks of the buyer, not to mention you cant own a real assault rifle in america an AR-15 doesnt mean Assault Rifle it means Armalite rifle the company that manufacturers the guns. Get real the stuff Trump says is true and taken out of context by most medias. Trump even says he condemns racism and hates white supremacy he may seem racist but you cant prove it at all give me a REAL quote with a real racist context behind it ILL WAIT. Wake up please.

Video games do NOT cause violence. That connection has been disproven times and times again, and is a false rhetoric pushed by the old generation who either do not, or outright refuse, to understand what they are. The old generation just wants an easy scapegoat and the mass number of video games with some sort of violent activity in it is like a golden target for them to keep pushing that outdated and false agenda. As an avid gamer who enjoys a little bit of everything from Pokemon, Mario, and Animal Crossing to GTA, Skyrim, and DOOM, it really irritates me when these people constantly try to bash these incredibly enjoyable past times when they know nothing about them besides what they want to see.

I remember when they used to blame Heavy Metal (Marlyn Manson) during Columbine. And if its video games why dont you have women killing people? They play video games too. America also has a mental health crisis. I mean you cant even get health care, how the hell do people even think about mental health when you lose your house if you have to pay your hospital bill. Im a white woman living in Canada who loves listening to heavy metal and I play video games. hmmm why am I not killing people? Im pretty healthy. Pretty sure I dont have a mental illness. I mean I am pretty infuriated about the misogyny and patriarchy. but Im not killing anyone. Im invisible btw.

I fear sending my 5 year old to school. I live in a country where they installed huge prison like gates just weeks ago to protect the children from this sort of thing. Here we are pointing fingers across the isle in congress and waving our fists at the media. We should be DOING something. Our lawmakers are FAILING US. Don't talk about the tragedies and send thoughts and prayers, look at the facts and look at the evidence and do something about the cause. Fix this so I don't send my daughter off to school every week fearing what likely could happen. Don't let another parent in this country cry on T. V. just begging for their baby back.
