I work at a grocery store in a small town in Iowa. One of my coworkers doesn t wear a face mask because of a medical condition. The workers are required to wear masks but the customers are not. It s been a weird experience because there are a lot of people who are taking precautions and doing what they should, but there s also a lot of people who come in saying they shop at our store instead of a different chain in a town near us because they make customers wear masks and we don t. I ve heard racist things about Asian/Chinese people (we are a very small very white town) including a man saying he s prepared for the Chinese to invade because he has AR-15 s at home. I also see a lot of people who wear their masks improperly/pull their masks down to talk/etc. I ve also seen a weirdly large amount of people who wear their masks in the store and then take them off when they get to the checkout even though they are probably in the closest proximity to other people at the checkout stand. Our store is set up so the checkers take items directly out of the customers carts and have another person bag the groceries and take them out to the customer s car. It s been an interesting experience. Oh! Also there have been a few people who get mad that they can t use their reusable bags

I am currently working fast food right now and we get people like Shelley all the time. Even though we aren't required to wear masks, most of us still wear them for protection (even us with asthma - we just take some breaks to go to the back to breathe. So today when our manager didn't have her mask on while on counter (because there was no customers and her lungs weren't handling the mask well, we had someone smuggly ask if it was required and looked ready to say something. I shut that down real quick. You get this everyday. Shelley seemed ready to just pick a fight and make a scene, even if what she was spewing was very contradictory. All people like Shelley don't need to be fed with this attention - we should focus more on the manager of the store who had the patience and politeness to deal with such a difficult customer. Kudos to that guy. Also to the guy who was dancing and being happy about being able to work - kudos for keeping up a good vibes during a time like this.

Thank you for treating the Jeffree Star controversy like the non-story it is. The trademarks were filed four months before the first diagnosed covid-19 case even happened in the US, and _makeup expires. _ With the product already made he couldn't just leave it sitting in a warehouse for 6+ months until Halloween or whatever date these people would deem acceptable then he'd be rightfully blasted for selling expired product. Jeffree has said I'm deceased whenever anything shakes him for years, and he even named one of the shades in the palette after his dog, Diamond, who passed away last year. Death isn't taboo to him and it really shouldn't be in society in general, either. It's going to happen to all of us eventually. I stg people need to save their outrage for things that are actually outrageous. (And for the record I'm not a Jeffree Star stan or anything; I just like his eyeshadow formula. Save your ire for the many times he actually _does_ do things that are worthy of it)

It might be bc I m no fan of JS but irrespective of when he decided upon the name of his product it does seem a little tone deaf to release a product called cremated now when that is literally what is happening to many of the deceased. IMO his PR team must not know much about how bodies are being dealt with or thought that any outrage is free promotion. He is very much well to do and could have released this at a time when people are less touchy. I feel like only loyalists and fans of his would have his back. Yes I understand that he didn t call it covid or virus but why should this get a pass when it couldn t have come at a worse time with a worse name in keeping with the times. This is my opinion coming from someone who isn t a fan so I m curious what actual fans think?

Jeffree Star releases Cremated Collection. Thousands of people are dying every day because of Covid. aren't thousands of people dying every day anyways? Also, I get it and I like how Philip said it was an emotional response because the way I see it, Jeffree runs a business. A business that plans products and launches at least 6 months in advance, just like Disney and Disney had to reorganize their movie releases which in turn pushes back merchandise releases. Businesses can not afford to go for months on end out of production. I have a lot of respect for how Jeffree has been responsible during the pandemic since March, with his employees and pushing back launches and the restocking of products!

It's funny how the west is accusing China while their virologists failed to recognize Covid in their countries in '19. So China did it first, didn't assess the situation as they would have wished (while they didn't do it even months after that) and now the blaming game is on. Everyone was laughing at China for at least a month, but now they are boldly pointing fingers. Everyone is just trying to get out of this embarrassing situation and keep their position. It's like a template that everyone followed. You can see the same process everywhere: laugh at China, panic mode, our government should do a lockdown, oh shit this lockdown is hurting the economy, blame the president, blame China.

I m not super up to date on my rights, which, as a disabled person, I should be- but aren t there allowed to be restrictions as long as you also provide reasonable accommodations? Doing the shopping for her is a reasonable accommodation. The only possible thing I could think of that she would like to keep private is those things related to the Womanly Affliction of the Curse of Blood, which. one, people menstruate, anyone who thinks that s uncomfortable or weird or gross or should be kept secret needs to get over themselves, and two, if it bothered her that much, I m sure the store could have and would have provided a female employee to pick out her things for her.

they is can't wear a mask phenomenon seems very new to me. Apparently, loose fitting cloth face masks have been causing people to pass out and struggle to breath. Oddly people wearing motorbike helmets, bmx helmets, paintball masks, spray painting masks, welding masks, industrial cleaning masks, ice hockey helmets, solider and swat tactical masks, sports team mascots, Disney land employees dressed as Mickey mouse, balaklava users (legal or otherwise, cosplayers playing heroes and villains, medieval knight reconstruction-ists, years of doctors and nurses during surgeries and, oh yeah, centuries of Muslim women don't seem to have the same issue. Weird.

Jeffree star will forever be a scapegoat for people frustrations. I mean, there's probably plenty of real stuff to go after, but this palette is a total reach. People are saying he should have delayed it (which he did) or cancel it because he's a millionaire and it doesn't matter if he loses a bit of money. In truth, he's a successful businessman with hundreds of employees to pay, bills to pay, contracts to uphold, etc. It would cost him millions to just throw the whole thing away and start over. He can't just slap a new sticker on it and call it a day. This is nothing more than unfortunate timing on his part.
