When you are 16 you are not even the same person. I changed so much. From being insecure getting is bad relationships. To being married at 22 in a loving relationship with my husband. Moved across the state now I'm a homemaker.
I'm not even the same person mentally, spiritually, emotionally, or physically. I use to be depressed and underweight. Now I'm at a healthy weight and fairly happy.
This is a child he is not an adult. This surgery is not going to make him happy. Sounds like this child feels like he's is never been happy. My childhood was great my parents didn't have a lot of money. But they still took me to the movies cooked my favorite food. We would go down to my grandma's every summer.
This surgery will not make this young man. Women mentally could. Physically it's impossible to be born with male and female chromosomes. There is something dark going on with this mom and son. She was probably dressing up and encouraging her kid. To act and think that way. This is child abuse. Medicaid is paying for it. But people can't get other surgeries they need or even meds.
This child needs help counseling. I hope this child wasn't abused in any way. Where the father. A child needs a father desperately research has proven this to be true.

Open child abuse. The very idea that a _child_ can in any, good faith measure, -make- such decisions turns on its head the very apparent truth of child naivety. Without this standard then -nothing is off the table-. Child marriage and far worse will be pushed for in the mainstream as if your gender identity, race, and even age are mostly/completely based on your decisions only and not constrained by biological or even social constraints, then there's no limiting principle to where this ends. I cannot stress that enough.
Similarly, we don't know the long terms effects of such because this hasn't been done but I -predict- a lot of regret and irreparable damage, especially in the light of social media and Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria.
That being said, I do have a lot of sympathy for trans people as it must be a _living hell_ to feel so in conflict with your body. Choices to transition should be left up to them at least at the age of 18, even though that's arbitrary, but that's fair. We know physical brain development alone doesn't finish until the 20's let alone the effect of life experience and what it can have one one's identity. This is unnecessarily highly likely to damage children.

Why is a 16 year old allowed to sterilize themselves? There has to be an age limit that they can completely comprehend what they are doing to their bodies and the potential of having children?
Also, changing your body will not make you any more or less happier. just talk to literally anyone who has had plastic surgery.

Being a girl has nothing to do with wanting to wear dresses or liking pink. That's called interests and preference. There is no indication that this is identity. There are millions of girls in this world who like blue or dark green colours, or like trousers and shorts. I did. SO WHAT? SO WHAT?

I'm sorry but NO child knows at 4 years old who they are who they want to be or who they even are! This was clearly a case of someone like her parents putting this in this poor child's head at way too young. If someone is 18 sure they can make their own decisions but at 4 this is disgusting!

The kid is obese now from the hormones. Watch these kids die around fifty from heart disease from that. I didn't know being a woman means that you must be obese and unhealthy. All them boys on hormones end up obese fairly immediately after them hormones. They completely ignore that.

Medicaid won-t even give me a Pap smear or breast exam. Mind u, neither at the va. This kid is getting treatment the regular public, will not. I wonder what he will do when he has to get his prostate checked because of the hormone replacement, hmm.

It's wonderful how supportive her mother is of this, but 4 is waaaayyy too young to make such a major decision, and I don't think Medicare should have covered it when there are too many life-sustaining things that it won't pay for.
