IRONICALLY despite loving and being around dogs all her life, it was a pit bull attack that led to Gabby losing her nose. Back in June 2017, she went to a friend-s party and was petting a pit bull when it launched itself at Gabby-s face, severing off the tip of her nose as well as biting into her lip. Gabby was rushed to hospital and doctors initially tried to reattach her nose but after the reattachment failed, Gabby had to come to terms with the fact that her face would always look different. She underwent seven surgeries in total. A few months after the attack, Gabby began therapy and was encouraged to use social media as a way of expressing how she felt. Now Gabby gets messages from fellow bite victims and even marriage proposals. When out in public she has had to get used to stares and she admits she still struggles with her altered appearance at times but Gabby is learning to love herself inside and out

i was bit by my aunts pitbull when i was 8 i was doing nothing wrong but petting him on the head and then he jumped on me where at first i thought he was playing but he pushed me on the floor just biting my lip i didn't feel pain but my brother and cousins who were older all heard the screaming and rushed in and kicked the dog over and put him outside. my mom was in the driveway in front bringing home mcdonalds for everyone and she dropped the bags and raced in screaming and picked me up with blood everywhere and that's when the pain kicked in. she drove to the emergency room not caring about blood all over her chest or getting on the car seats. anyways long story short i was rushed into immediate plastic surgery and now am left with a small faded cut above my lip leading into my lip. no one ever notices and i'm fortunate i had a great plastic surgeon along with my mothers friend who's also a plastic surgeon help with the after care and laser treatments etc to fade the scar. i will say i am NOT afraid of dogs but would never own one now being an adult. i have always preferred cats to begin with. i do however fear pitbulls i naturally will cover my mouth if i see one in public because the thing is my aunts pitbull was a domestic pet who wasn't raised in an aggressive household and was loved. this girl is tough though because that sure looks like it was a painful recovery. glad she found makeup because i love makeup as well and always tell people who say it's fake and they don't have the time for it that makeup is made to accentuate what you already have and it's art if you know what you're doing (i tend to go on i have a very good memory where i can tell you every detail of a certain day)

Wow, painting the scars gold is such a brilliant idea! It reminds me of Kintsugi - the -golden joinery- that is used in Japanese art to mend broken ceramics. It is thought that when something is broken it has a chance to become more beautiful and you really embraced that concept and made it work so well with you. What an inspiring person you are! Thank you so much for sharing your story but more importantly that healthy outlook and that beautiful confidence that the world really needs more of.
Side note - your make up and scars have amazing harmony! Though I can totally tell that even under the make up, you're all kinds of cute; )

my friends dog lunged at me while i was sitting with my friend on the floor. i guess the dog hit my chin bc i almost had a hole in my mouth from my tooth. i also have a scar on my nose from it somehow. i went home crying and when i went to school the next day she was mad at ME for leaving her house bc i wanted to go(i literally had blood dripping from my mouth) and making a big deal out of it. i probably should have gone to get stiches on my lip bc now ive got an indent in it

She-s a beautiful and strong woman and very inspiring. I-m not surprised that one of the guys commented that he wants to marry her because she-s beautiful, funny, and outgoing. She has these positive, lamp-bright-like vibes they-re so contagious and addictive and u wanna be like her and u wanna be around people like her. And her sister is a caring, supportive person who she feels she can rely on and confide in. Kudos to both of them! But especially, Gabby.

Not to sound insensitive, but I cannot count how many times I've seen white women immediately put their face into the face of a friend/neighbor's dog to kiss it or get in close to pet it. Dogs are still animals and you simply do not know how a dog will react to a new person getting in close. Especially a pit bull.

Wow you are unbelievably strong! I was accidentally bitten on the nose only got 3 stitches but when it first happened I was in shock and I refused to be around that particular dog for about a month. I couldn-t even imagine having my whole nose taken off! Thank you for sharing your story x -

I-m a little bit confused. At first in the hospital she just has bandages across her face where her nose is, and you can clearly see her forehead is fine. But then later she has a bunch of stitches running all through her forehead and down her face? What happened?

You are glowing with kindness and confidence. How can we not see you as beautiful? I hope you can one day look in the the mirror and not have any issue with the way you look. Because you survived and seem to be thriving. And that's nothing small.

Am i an idiot or did she not say what breed it was. Because in the description it says a -pit bull- which a lot of dogs are mistaken for when they aren't, but I didn't hear her say anything about the breed of dog that bit her.

My mother was attacked and bitten in the face by a dog too, it was also a very serious injury, but it healed well. It was something very shocking and very frightening to have happened and it can happen at any time.

Words cannot describe what this poor young girl has been through. You can see the anguish & raw pain in her eyes. If she wasn't so resilient & honest she might not have come back from the trauma. So sorry. xx

Gabby I had the same accident with a pitbul 15 yrs ago. Did the surgeon do a paramedian forehead flap? I had 22 surgeries and the surgeon did an amazing job. Total nose reconstruction over 5 years.

She is a good reminder to others that dogs are not safe. my friend got bitten all over her body. she got bitten in her face her on her arms legs and groin area. she was walking down the street.
reply

Few months ago I got bitten by street dog, after that I do have severe fear of dogs -. But she is such a strong and beautiful lady giving a very positive vibe even after the accident.

Further proof that animal worship is a big problem in the US. Folks seem to care more about their dogs than their family. Most of all they set them up as idols before God.
reply

Such a positive, strong woman! I absolutely love the fact that despite the incident she continues to love and respect dogs and actually work with them. She is amazing! xx

People who think animals are innocent are dumb simple as that. I-ve noticed Caucasian have more care and sympathy for animals more than humans maybe this is karma

A prosthetic nose would help the most. Bless her! I can empathize, given my own facial disfigurements (which have greatly improved thanks to plastic surgery.

She is beautiful inside and out. I am glad she can see that she is fantastic and I loved her story. I wish her luck in whatever life has to offer her.
reply

Do not want a dog of no kind. people are treating dogs like they are humans calling them children. they are not children they are animals. DOGS!
reply

I would have taken the dog in instead of getting euthanized. Certain people can't handle dogs of particular breeds especially fat lazy people.
reply

Listen you aren-t pretty you are absolutely amazing and just because you don-t have a real nose that doesn-t make you different and be you
reply

How foolish, after one of the things disfigures her face for life, she still loves them and lets them slop her in the face, how gross.
reply

Girl you are absolutely beautiful inside and out. It's also awesome that you didn't turn cold towards all dogs. Your a damn rockstar.
reply

How do you get past the fear of being attacked again? I was attacked by a dog when I was a teen and I have a serious fear of dogs now.
reply

There is surgery that can fully restore her nose. It's considered reconstructive not cosmetic and insurance will pay for it.
reply

So sad and scary! I would never be around dogs if that happened to me. That was no accident! How could it be an accident!
reply

I really find her now even more beautiful than before. Maybe it's because her soul got stronger and it shines through.
