SHELBY Lynch, from Leeds, UK, was diagnosed with a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 at 18 months old. This is a muscle wasting condition that left her needing a wheelchair and an air ventilator. Shelby has taken the modelling world by storm and is on a mission to educate people about disabilities through her very successful social media platforms. Shelby told Truly: I campaign a lot for disabilities, so I try to educate people through humour and through trends that are going on, on TikTok and a lot of them do really well. However she has received some truly horrible comments on her uploads, Shelby said: It gets a bit much sometimes, some of them are borderline death threats. Like, 'I'm going to unplug your machine', or 'I'm going to push you down the stairs'. Despite the comments she has received, today, Shelby is going to be joined by her friend Rylie, for a 'hot disabled girl summer photoshoot'. Shelby added: What I want to do is make disabled bodies more represented because we're all so beautiful but people don't think we are

Why does everyone think modelling is some kind of achievement? I am not trying to be nasty when I say that literally anyone with any kind of disability is 'modelling' nowadays. I mean good for you, but modelling meant once upon a time that the model was unimportant and was merely a clotheshorse to show what garments look like that others wished to purchase. Nowadays being photographed = modelling. I am sure Shelby can do better than that. She's got the oomph.

Except that isn-t a ventilator that-s a CPaP aka continuous positive airway pressure. This machine applies constant pressure greater than that of the atmosphere to the upper respiratory of a patient. It, unlike a ventilator, is non invasive and does not have a tube going directly into the lungs. My oldest was on a CPaP machine while in NICU after having the ventilator removed.

So happy she is living her best life! I can't believe the horrible disgusting comments people leave her! Please Sweetie, don't let them get you down because they wold never say them to your face, let alone act on them. They're probably some frumpy middle aged person living in the basement of their elderly parents home. Stay Beautiful Always---

WHO are the sick FREAKS who make fun of this woman, or WORSE - threaten her! I honestly cannot wrap my mind around that. It's just disgusting, and it's part of the reason I stay away from all social media. But I am very happy that those platforms DO exist, so that EVERYONE can have a way to express themselves to the world.

I am a CNA and alot of people don't understand that people with disabilities want to have a life too. For these girls to show and educate others, who might just found out that they or someone they love was recently diagnosed with similar problems, and that it's ok to still live. I applaud them.

She seems like a sweet person. Some people need to grow up and stop being evil. How could someone say such mean things to someone. They might be able to breathe and walk by themselves, but she-s living her best life. While they-re in their moms basement being jealous trolls lol

I think she is amazing I love what she is doing for other people and bringing awareness about her condition I love her energy it was really upsetting and triggering to hear someone joke about pushing her down the stairs it isn't funny it breaks my heart

On all of these episodes they r like -I'm independent and on my own- but they are not they all have ppl taking care of them it's sad. They should have a show about carers and the family of people who r stuck caring for their family members.

Posting photos on social media doesn-t make you a model. Being a model used to mean something: a group of near perfect men and women, and to say you dated or married a model was very impressive. Now it means nothing.

-at least I can walk and BREATH by myself- you can't even use the word breathe correctly. I can't understand why people post these negative and hurtful comments. We're all people and deserve to be treated equally.
reply

Even with all the negative comments, I'm so happy that she still manages to maintain a positive outlook in life. I hope you get to achieve your dreams, and don't let your disability define who you are.

The variety truly uplodes is crazy. My brain has to process when I see such beautiful souls accepting their own condition like muscular dystrophy and then watching plastic barbie surgery addicts.
reply

What a beautiful soul I can't believe the evil people in this world that can say things like that to her. I really hope people who say those nasty things karma gets them! Shine beautiful - - - -

reply

Why can't she just be an ambassador for her condition and for disabilities? That's a great thing. But having people lie to you that you're a beautiful model when youre not is just nuts.
reply

I-m glad she-s confident in herself and does some of the things she loves. some ppl are just miserable and so hateful to comment things like that.
reply

Her tiktok comments are brutal and sad to say that probably one of these fake positivity commenters are the ones posting the hate on her tiktok

Y'all, why people gotta be so cruel. Like -, there's are more than hate or negative comments. It's online bullying and threats

Anybody that sends negative messages is just jealous because their own lives are so empty. Keep up the great work!
