My foot is my knee - now i'm showing the world - shake my beauty

JANI, from Cologne, Germany, has made the incredible decision to finally show the world her amputated leg through social media, after having a procedure known as a rotationplasty and keeping it hidden on social media for years. Jani was only nine when she felt an excruciating pain above her right knee while participating at a school sports class. Jani was rushed to hospital and informed by doctors that she had an aggressive and rare bone cancer, named Osteosarcoma, in her right leg. Her family made the difficult decision to have a rotationplasty, where the knee is removed and the lower leg and foot then turned 180 degrees before being reattached to the femur bone (where the knee once was) in effect becoming the new knee joint. Jani told Truly: 'I felt so out of place, it really looked like a horror movie that I had been through. I was shocked, I was definitely speechless and thinking about it makes me so sad'. Although Jani accepted her new self, she felt like she had to hide her real leg and she always wore an artificial leg. However, last year after an emergency surgery, Jani made the incredibly brave decision to stop hiding her leg from the world and started posting pictures of herself on social media without her artificial leg

Not to be mean or offend but how beautiful would it be for those who have -differences or disabilities- to embrace them with a career that they choose. For example she could be an actress that acts in horror films. I can see her acting in AHS or something like that. She would knock other actresses or actors out of the ballpark with just her unique look alone. Turn something negative to positive. -

I remember in high school I used to run for the cross country team and one of the girls on the team complained about leg pain all the time. It wasn-t until later that she found out that she had the same cancer. I was 17 when I first heard of this procedure and it did take me aback, but was glad she would survive the cancer. I hope that wherever she is now, she is doing well.

I think the only people who would be shocked at this are people who aren't familiar that this can be done. I remember the first time I read about this and I was floored. But it's obviously a genius idea and if it saves you pain and helps you live a better life why not? It's a medical miracle that we can do these kinds of things.

I-m glad she is accepting the way she looks, and I think it is amazing that we live in a time where she can live a long full life after going through that. If she-d lived in any other time period she wouldn-t be with us. I hope that people appreciate how amazing her story really is.

You seem like such an amazing person, sorry for the reactions of some people I know they mean no harm but they are immature and not informed.
I am so happy you are alive and have a beautiful full life ahead of you.
You are an inspiration to us all!

You have overcome cancer thay makes you a hero. That lady who screamed does not live in the real world. Probably one of those out of touch and sheltered individuals who believe we should all look the same, speak the same and have the same beliefs.

This is so cool I never knew this could be done, at first if I saw I would be like -wait what? - Not in a mean way but in a genuinely amazed reaction because I-ve never seen this before, cool girl

Staring, gawking and reacting negatively to people who are different is cruel. Where kind of heart do you have to be able to do that to another person who is keenly aware of their difference? Be kind.

There is nothing wrong with you! Your are beautiful! The women who screamed is the 1 who has something wrong with her! Who does that! I wish you all the luck, love and happiness/ healthy life!

It is awesome you expect what has happened and work with it you should not need to hide it people need to get over it and except people for who they are not what they look like good for you

I feel like I've seen someone else with a rotationplasty before, I think it's great. She still has a way to use a prosthetic and can walk around like anyone else. Pretty cool stuff!

Disabilities are no joke. People take the little things for granted. like myself, thanks for the insight sweetheart happy to see you move forward. That-s what life is all about

It-s interesting to see but nothing to freak out about. People are to quick to judge and just need to shut the hell up. Keep at it and be proud of who you areZ

I'm not gonna come on here with the condescending 'she's beautiful inside and out' bullcr-p - but I WILL ask if I can have her number! -WOLF WHISTLE-

Maybe that woman was just shocked not because she didn't accept you but maybe her reaction was just a part of being shocked to see a twisted legs.

You are a very cool lady. It must have been such a fright for you at first. Such a big change. That woman who screamed must not get out much.
reply

She's gorgeous and her uniqueness to adapt is really cool. I can only imagine the pain of going through all that, tho. Very strong lady!
reply

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your honesty concerning your struggles, yet yourself acceptance is inspirational and admirable.
reply

It's actually really smart to save half the leg instead of amputating all of it. Plus, the foot works great as a substitute knee.
reply

What is this life? I have no word to express my feelings on seen people like this. So so sad and at the same time love you so much.
reply

She's so strong and amazing; Can't help but have the utmost respect for her positive demeanor after what she's gone through.
reply

I've seen this surgery before and never understood why not just amputate it. Why must they reattach it this way?
reply

Damn- the sad part is she is extremely attractive. I guess it-s true- God truly does have a sick sense of humor-
reply

I love Truly, they only show people strong and positive enough to inspire others with the same disorder
