LAST year Ruth Lujan appeared on Hooked On The Look to showcase her tiny corset to the world. However, along with corestting, Ruth is also obsessed with dressing up as a mermaid and has devoted time, money and energy into creating a collection of aquatic outfits to make her look like one of the mythical creatures. Her love of all things mermaid has come at a cost; Ruth has spent over $20, 000 dollars on her costumes. Initially she was a bit afraid to try this style of cosplay but she was encouraged by her partner Alberto. Wanting to create an outfit that-s totally unique and being an avid fan of horror movies, Ruth-s mermaid costume is a little on the scary side making her look like a cross between Ariel and Count Dracula. Along with dressing up, Ruth has an interest in the mythology and magic of mermaids, she told Truly: -What I love about mermaids is the mysterious thing if they exist or not

I knew a guy who wanted to look as similar to snail as possible. He started from building his new home, on his back, big box from refrigerator, attached with belts to his chest. He painted himself and the box with khaki/brownish patterns, and pour gallons of lube to imitate snails slime.
I tell you, he looked bizarre yet magnificent, lil bit ridiculous but it wasn't enough for him. He started body mutilation, to resemble the front of his beloved snail. So he took table spoon and heavy duty hair spray from his mom's bathroom, and using the spoon, gauged out one eye. Then he did it again with second ball, but his hands start to shake due to the shock. He wanted to fix own eyeballs out of the skull using that hair spray, but thing will never work out this way, and I was sure the pain would be more severe.
Please tell me isn't that insane? To mutilate own body for perverted caprice? If it's OK, if it sane for most of people who support that mindset, then I'll rather be the one called insane.

disappointed to see her using bootlegged mermaid tails and ones made from unsafe materials. There's a whole industry of mermaid performers all over the world. I'm glad mermaid swimming makes her happy but there's ethical and safety issues. She's using silicone caulking which is not skin safe or environmentally safe. The fabric tails are knock off bootlegs of Finfolk which are two twin sister artists who work really hard on their craft, but bootleggers steal their photos online and print them on fabric. I hope in future she can choose to support ethical tail makers and get more familiar with the proper silicone products for making her next tail! She does a great job describing the wonder mermaiding gives people.

What cracks me up if she keeps calling herself a mermaid but this isn't how mermaids were created to look that's a siren and the fact that she keeps adding creepy teeth on it just had still fact that it isn't a mermaid it's a siren she doesn't know her mythological creatures obviously and probably should stop dressing up is what she thinks is a mermaid if she can't get the two correct she should be embarrassed that she got these wrong it's not that hard to tell the difference any five-year-old with a book could do it

You may think it's silly to think mermaids are real but look into the Mermaid attacks all over the world; especially near Africa. Through evolution we came from the water. Maybe some of our ancestors STAYED in the water. If you knew the things I have seen in our skies you wouldn't sleep at night anymore.

This one is very different from the people who mutilate their bodies, etc. This lady is just having some fun with it but she's aware that it's just for fun and it's not taking over her life. She KNOWS that she's not a mermaid.

This is Awesome, but the only thing I-m not really agreeing with are to wear coloured contacts while swimming-, if you read about it, it says that we should NEVER wear contacts underwater, as it-s a BIG RISK for the eyes. -

These stories are proof that a person shouldn't be obsessed with nothing and no one. not just hers. all of them lol. 20, 000 on that tail. See wen u got money to blow like that it's easy to play pretend.

Fukkk. the mental illness meter is off the charts on this thing. the wigs. lol. wow, did she steal them from the hooked on the look makeup lady? Really sad that's she's being manipulated and exploited.

WoW i'm actually speechless, .if you wanna act as a Mermaid, FIRST, at least learn how to swim properly with the fake tail on! The look you're trying to portray, LOOKS MESSY, SLOPPY & VERY WRONG!

You are so authentic and beautiful. You should follow all your dreams as a Mermaid. You embody her so perfectly. Thank you truly. And the camera partner is amazing.

She can definitely use some more practice on her mermaid swimming. She-s kind of stiff. I-ve seen others so swim so gracefully.

She is so lovely! They did her dirty with the thumbnail making her look like bat boy from weekly world news lol
