WHEN Xueli, 18, was born with albinism, her parents gave her up for adoption. Speaking to Truly, she explained: I was abandoned because in China some people believe that albinism brings bad luck to their families. This led to Xueli being adopted and relocating to the Netherlands, where she has grown up. Speaking about the experience, Xueli said: It's very hard but it strengthens me in getting more life experience. Because my parents did this, they gave me strength. They gave me an opportunity to live in a country that is accepting of people with albinism. Over the years, Xueli struggled with her identity and her mum, Joeke, explained: It was important for her to find out who she really is and to become herself. Nowadays, Xueli is a model and has worked with many top brands, as well as gracing the pages of Vogue. I-m so glad she found a family that loves her and wanted her. Her modelling photos are absolutely stunning. You can tell she is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is doing an amazing job, fighting for people with disabilities. No one should be discriminated against and I find it really sad, that someone could give up their child for being born with something that they can-t control.

I'm white. I know a lot of Asians and generally find them very attractive. I've mostly been around Chinese. I consider your Chinese eyes and white skin to be very attractive. I also like E Asians a great deal because [ on average ] they actually make better and more peaceful American citizens than whites do. My best wishes to you.

Im from the U. S and born with albinism. My parents put me in a state home. It was hard. Im sorry to hear you faced abandonment.
I tried to model as a teen and nobody would take me. Im so happy to see my albino sisters and brothers making it where i could not. Hugs to you girl!

How can someone be disowned bc of albinism? Albinism is beautiful and ppl who have that look like non biblically accurate angels. I am aware that ppl with albinism are legally blind and perhaps ppl wouldn't wanna raise blind ppl but whatever. Her mom did a amazing job raising her: )

WOW! Bad luck? In Africa they're considered such good luck with prosperity that their very lives are in danger of the witch doctors killing them for their blood and body parts. It's crazy people are people despite color. Our true beauty and worth is truly inside.

I saw the thumb nail and thought -who is this stunning woman-? I think we all need to take responsibility of our definition if beauty and how we project it. My view has evolved over the years and has greatly impacted how I see myself. She is a wonderful woman.

I really think that albinism is a very ethereal and stunning look but it's too bad that it also comes with such serious health complications. Her birth mother could not be more wrong and she is very good luck to all who are graced by her beauty and wisdom!

A culture which believes in such superstitious nonsense really needs to take a hard look at itself.
Thank goodness this wonderful young woman found love and acceptance in a more enlightened country where she can blossom and be her best self.

She wears 3 different pastel suit type outfits in this video, it-s a pretty deliberate choice and accentuates her look. Such a young woman probably didn-t think to wear that as her personally style on her own, I wonder if she had a stylist.

Someone should arrange for Xueli to be photographed with Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech, the Queen Of Dark. What a fabulous photo shoot that would be! Two beautiful women at complete opposites of the color spectrum.

What an amazing, extraordinary and absolutely gorgeous woman. Her beauty starts on the inside and radiates outwardly. I know her mom, an amazing and also a beautiful woman inside and out couldn't be more proud!

Such a intelligent positive beautiful humble modest young woman, making leaps and bonds in the world for people who have disability. This auntie says thank you.

How is she too pale? Isn-t that the reason Geisha paint their face white because pale is more pure? She looks like a normal woman who dyed her hair blonde

You are an amazing young woman! I don't care what DNA says, you and Blair are 100% sisters. You are not in this experience alone!

she looks gorgeous just the way she is, I'm not even saying it because I feel sorry or anything, I personally think she's gorgeous

She-s very beautiful as well, a lot of these individuals are given modeling jobs because they-re always attractive. -

The color white is the color of mourning and death in Asia, which is why it's considered an unlucky color there.

Yeah you are beautiful, when you believe you can do anything you can do it, we are born different this is true

I-m glad she is confident and has such a supportive family. I grew up in care and it is hard being abandoned. -

Why does she use -persons- and not -people-? (No hate on her, I'm studying English and this is confusing )
reply

Three of my aunts are albino. Yes, they preferred to be called albino rather than -person with albinism-.
