The Whole Life Of J. K. Rowling In One Video - Full Biography (Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts) I was an adult with a 10 year old daughter who had just learned to love reading. I loved the look of the book with Harry on Front and all the Magical portrayal.
I was drawn to the book and decided I would read it too. Sarah and I loved it and were hooked on J. K. Rowlings.
We couldnt wait for the next book to come out. We bought the books - the first day they were in the stores. Then they started selling all the extra paraphernalia of Harry and his friends. Hagrid was my sweet love. He is such a tender and thoughtful man.
I bought all the extras you could get. Harrys wand, the game of The school, the mugs, the globe, Hagrid, dolls of Harry & Friends, philosopher stones etc. I had the whole collection.
I was hoping JK Rowlings would start a new set of books about more Magical people. Harry & his friends children growing up and going to school st Hogwarts would have been super. More odd and exciting things could have happened for their children of our stars and their parents fighting evil together.
I love the other books the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. That was a great book. The one about the wicked wizard. whom Johnny Depp starred as. Ahhhh. I forget his name.
Anyway, the more books she writes about Magical beings the more I will read. Love your writing JK Rowling!
Stephen King is a good writer also but he creeps me out with some of his morbid thought. I dont like kids always being tortured or adults lost forever. I guess I should say I like happy endings.
JK has some really scary things going on in her books but usually have a happy ending. Whew!\r\n

JKR is allowed to have opinions and share them. However, opinions can be harmful and people are allowed to express their feedback to public posts containing opinions. Particularly posts that consist of very strong opinions that pertain to the rights and respect of human beings.
Obviously, an opinion is an opinion. Good or bad. People are allowed to voice whether they agree, disagree, or are indifferent to an opinion, which is exactly what many did to JKR. People who agree with her agreed with her. Their feelings are valid. People who do not agree with her did not agree with her. Their feelings are also valid. Judging from JKR's very public and strong statement, it is clear that she does not respect transgender people. Whether she hates them is a different argument, but she does not respect them. So much so that she presented an opinion that harmed many transgender people and allies. Obviously people are going to be upset about a statement regarding something she would not personally understand (being transgender, so y'all shouldn't be upset that people are upset with her. That's just ridiculous. She a wonderful writer with a brilliant story full of stories and life, but she is also human, and so are the people to whom she offended. Be respectful.

I don't think JK Rawling should be canceled, I think the haters should be canceled. They are the ones telling people if you like a game or even HP you support her views. WRONG! Cancel culture is what should be canceled, what happened top everyones entitled to an opinion, the only thing she did wrong was put her view on Twitter, she's not transphobic she's tired and fed up of the shit women get. She said women who menstruate, which is still biologically and scientifically correct. She should have chosen her way of stating her views more carefully but only cause the so called fans/ haters are the worst sort of people going. Im left wing and will always support equality for all, but the haters and the angry communities are sounding like fascists and dictators. She never said she was transphobic and she herself has stated she supports trans rights, its you the haters, the ones who dont like to give peoples opinions a chance, the ones who are starting to sound like the evil dictatorships, its you who should be canceled. How dare people think they have the right to create two wrongs, and think its ok to ruin people. Shame on you not Rawling, I will forever and, 'ALWAYS, ' be a loyal fan.

J. K. ROWLING is nothing as I had imagined.
It's easy to believe people of prodigious talent have lead ' charmed, & easy lives. The realistic side can only be one of tough times & struggles.
I'd thought even her Shopping lists were best sellers.
Good luck and a strong voice as a writer, not to mention self belief all help in being published as a Writer. A great writer is a creature of a different colour. One's work must stand the test of Time. To be within the Canon of Literature is achieving immortality. To know the Canon is not static; there are so many types of English spoken, coupled with the many genres, can make the desire to be a Writer far more than daunting. Fundamentally, one must always be honest with oneself, writing only about all that is within yr. circle of experience. So you must have a love of knowledge, and learning.
I think it is something you cannot make a career. that line of thought would stifle any sparkle of creativity. That is yr. life's breath.
Write for yourself, nobody else.

A woman is an adult female, not an adult man. Why is telling the truth bad these days? Thankfully people like Lia Thomas can not compete in women's sport any more. The feelings of trans women seem to come before real women's feelings. There is no such thing as cis women, it is offensive to real women because it makes women feel that they are a different kind of women, when they are just women.
I think it is disgusting that people who have made millions from acting in Harry Potters movies call her transphobic and trans people send her hate mail.

What was the preface about?
The only controversy associated with 'her name' was her defence of women's rights, the rights of gay people and fairness for women in sport.
How depressing that this apparently sullies 'her name'. I love her for standing her ground in the face of the unimaginable bullying and terrible threats she's had. This is what happens to women who speak up about women's rights. Anyone who thinks her views are controversial needs an abrupt education.

An awesome author, best of the century! Harry & Megan could take a lesson with this author-s contribution to every child-s imagination: The normal has magic, contribute to causes with all your heart, and work incredibly hard because you believe. The only person in The Great Britain comparable? The Queen herself with her steadfastness and belief that She could contribute to all walks. Long live the Queen and thank goodness for the gift of Potter.

I feel resentment at the disclaimer at the start of this biography. Stephen King was a whole addict over many uears who has written some of of most gruesome scenes in print, but no disclaimer about about him. Rowling is insanely talented and an absolute hero to women everywhere. Anyone who disagrees may continue to disagree. None of them should have their opinions elevated above anyone else's. Facts over feelings. #ProtectWomenAndGirls

I read all the books starting in my 40's. By the time the last, final installment came out, I read it like a starving child. I've re-read them several times, each time finding a new delight.
I love the movies, but the books were so much richer in content, as is usual.
I never saw the movies in the theaters either.
Her ability to weave mythology, magick, history, fantasy AND write each book age appropriately, is unsurpassed.

As a gay man, I stand by Rowling 100% to have & express her own feelings on what she believes, wether it-s on Trans issues or any other. I, in no way, consider trans woman, to be real woman, but that they are trans woman and there is most assuredly a difference. Trying to silence, and force your beliefs on someone and cancel them for not doing so, goes against everything the LGBTQIA & Trans communities have been fighting for.

LOL, I became aware of Harry Potter when I was 42, when I was hired as Branch Manager of the smallest branch of our county-s 13-branch library system. I quickly devoured books 1-4. When Half-Blood Prince was released, there was a nationwide contest for a library in each state to win a signed first-run copy of the book. My little branch won the copy for the state of Michigan! SUCH a thrill!

Liked the video and think it's a success story of total wonderment by an author who dared to wonder and wander. She may have been thrust into a world of gender politics unknowingly, but at the very least she took her chances. Trans people are a unique breed of humans and deserve our respect like any other group, choosing to be different but not malicious. .

J. K. Rowling made a good choice to say that the actors needed to be English and it needed to be filmed in the UK. That is one of the reasons why the movies did good. If it was americanized it would never have been as great. That is what I experience with the fantastic beasts. Even though I loved to see the Wizarding world again.

My grand daughter started reading at 8 yrs old. Her mother and I as Grandma loved the first book. It was a summer thrill to get the new books.
Her brother joined us when he wanted a Invisibility Cape and Magic wand.
They own all the books and movies.
They're ready to begin sharing the adventures with their children.

I was 35 when I read my first Potter book for myself (not as a bedtime story to my child. Was just after Half Blood Prince was in theaters. I couldn't wait for the next film to see what happened next, and I ate that book whole, then read all the rest of them, except Order of the Phoenix, because it is so long.

I read the books in my 40s and 50s. I bought the books hoping my step kids would read them. They are now in their 30s and 40 s. My oldest stepdaughter finally has read the books to her children. Otherwise, to this date, I am the only one who has read them. Of course I have seen the movies several times.

Why does/should anybody care about another person's (in this case an author's) opinion? Why is the public consensus that all individuals should agree with the popular opinions? Why should we publicly shun people who publicly voice their contrary opinions?
reply

Everything JKR said is true. You cannot ignore basic biology & terminolgy relating the to the female body. Doesn't matter if you're offended by her comments. At the end of the day facts don't care about your feelings. As a woman I stand with her 100%.
reply

I-m sorry but they tried to cancel that woman for no reason. Just goes to show you, no matter what you can-t have an individual opinion of your own, just have to go along with any and everything and I-m happy she stood her ground. --

When I was teaching middle school, each student had to write and present a report on a book. Every student wrote Harry Potter, but only one child was chosen. He introduced me to Harry Potter, and I have never forgotten that kindness.

As a victim of abuse she should be more sympathetic and tolerant to other people, and different groups. Talking about gender? She published her work under gender-neutral name when it was more convenient for her! Hypocrite

Attack upon Trans community - that's taking it way too far! Supporting an alternative community shouldn't have to require abandoning individual realities of those, who choose to keep the identity acquired at birth.

I bought the book in 1997 for my son Jason after his teacher at a Scottish school told him to get this book and read it you will love it, I remember running to Waterstones to buy it for Jason and he loved it

I love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Wind in the Willows. They use to have these cars full of books and it was magical to me. A car that contained books you could borrow or buy, I don't remember

The narrator is a robot -, that-s why the way he says things sometimes sounds weird. It-s the script that isn-t written for the robot to read and sound natural.

well, it sounds from this video that her life is pretty good. Being a famous writer has got to be enormously fulfilling. She has given us lots to think about. -

As a typical white feminist and apologist for Margaret Sanger (a Nazi eugenicist) JK Rowling embodies everything that is evil about Western culture.

The UK has one the worst tabloid press papers in the world. Anything they publish about JK is not going to reflect her true beliefs, or who she is.
