There are fools working at new techniques to reduce the air concentration of CO2, the principal factor for plant growth with sun and water. No CO2 = regression of vegetation and oxygen and food production. Since 30 years, areas that benefit from a slight increase in CO2 in the athmosphere are regreening, as satellite images show in Africa, Amazonia, and the deserts in the nordic and southern regions in Europe and the world.
CO2 is avidly taken up by plants that retain the Carbon atom for wood growth, and liberate O2 and water into the athmosphere. Trying to REDUCE the CO2 concentration in the air that we
, animals and plants need, is fordering the extinction of life on our planet, that will transform into a sterile, mineral planet. ACTIVISTS against CO2 should be hospitalized in psychiatric clinics and educated. In case of opposition, they should be condemned to death by asphixia!

Young people, it's going to be your job to plant the trees which the unwise grandfathers cut down, and rebuild the drainage catchment system to re-Green the Desert. Want to feel being a part of the world which you make a tangible difference in? Are you tired of your silly peers chasing empty dreams of conquest, the signature of the dying boomers, the spoils of which you will never be invited to partake? Get together with your peers and go to the country and make it a lush paradise. It will take a generation, or at least 5-10-20 years to start to see results. But then, it took several generations to destroy. Your generation can be the expression of hope the New World will be built on. Make a break with the prevailing hopeless, nihilistic, exploitative mindset which robs you of your rightful inheritance. Look up -Greening the Desert-.

Josep Burrell a Spanish politician and high representative of EU, EC said that Europe is a garden and the rest of the world ( he definitely Meant Africa) is a jungle.
High ranking Racist!
European and Americans are doomed if they continue to choose these kind of representative who are senile 75 and 80 years old fools.
We need vibrant young leaders who will implement new technology combining the old fashioned way of farming and environment sustainability ( planting indigenous trees and fruits trees that require less water, and eradicate swimming pools, golf course, water parks etc) and to live in peace and exchanging knowledge and expertise around the World after all we live in one planet, all for one and one for all, like it or not.

6: 13 to 7: 21 is quite interesting and revealing.
The loss of rainfall in the Mediterranean climate zones is a well known consequence of failing to eliminate greenhouse emissions from Australia and the Gulf States. Those countries affected by desertification need to immediately ostracise Australia and the Gulf States and remove them from all international organisations unless they pay for the full cost of their emissions. Spain is paying for bickering with the US and China instead of uniting to demand rigid zero emissions and full compensation for affected nations by Australia and the Gulf States.
The systems of irrigation in use before World War II, on the other hand are quite new to me and quite interesting.

In Spain, they probably use a lot of chemical fertilizers which destroy the flora and fauna of the soil. It is quite normal for these regions to become desert because there is no supply of organic matter which enriches and regenerates the soil and makes it more receptive to rain. This allows the soil to better absorb and retain water and moisture, preventing erosion and soil washout during heavy rains. This deplorable situation is due to decades, even centuries of aberration in agriculture. We must always give back to the earth what we take from it, otherwise it is a disaster! I'm sure they got rid of all that organic matter they got from destroying those trees instead of using it to enrich the soil.

You seem to be blaming the animals for the deforestation in the first place. So, what were the animals eating in the first place, before the soil was damaged.
There were six million buffalo grazing on the west of America before White man wiped them out and fenced it off and plowed the fields; now it's a dust bowl.
Now look at what is done there. Growing grain and watering it from a mile underground. Using toxins to keep the weeds off the land, weeds the animals once ate and flourished on. Now those toxins are perishing everything, people, rivers, seas, oceans, everything that lives is going to die.

Spain MUST learn about WATER HARVESTING like in the Sahara desert - they are not only stopping the growth of the deserts but they are SHRINKING them while building food forests and lush fertile area's that now cover over 20 African countries and is so large it can be seen from space! They MUST learn to build small micro-ponds and berms to keep the rain from simply running off and allows it to percolate into the earth, re-filling long dry underground aquifers. I AM SHOCKED EUROPE DOES NOT USE THESE PROVEN METHODS with CONSISTENT, SPECTACULAR RESULTS.

The government needs to get agricultural universities to collaborate with and educate farmers on the need to build small check dams on the hills as well as at the foot of the hills. This will prevent rapid run-off of water after rains and slows down water flow, thereby increasing the water tables. Also, a massive afforestation drive needs to take place to retain topsoil and allow water holding capacity. It's sad to see that a rich country like Spain is allowing drought and desertification to spread unhindered!

Please do a follow up documentary on MOSES WEST: Inventor of the AIR TO WATER MACHINE.
Why aren't countries around the world all using Moses West's machine to get free water, from the atmosphere?
Who are keeping it from general public knowledge?
Moses West is a former USA Marine Engineer, who invented the machine to fuse oxygen and hydrogen from the atmosphere to form free water without limit, 24/7.
Please get the word out.
Moses West, Atmospheric water machine.

Mexicans be mexican, whether in the Americas or Europe. Unthinking, greedy, shortsighted, uneducated (as far as the environment's importance to human life, and willing to kill anything to get what they want, the mexicans of Southern Europe will keep killing their own piece of land until someone stops them by conquering that corner of hell and teach them by force how to act like proper human beings.
Torching the land of your nation, has got to earn the people there a collective Darwin award.

That awareness is already obvious to the poor and middle classes who can't afford a vacation outside their own country because food prices and rent & utilities take all their money. They know starvation is just around the corner. Internal conflict will be the inevitable result and it has already started!
The rich need to be gotten under control to avoid this class war!

Has anyone thought of using solar and wind power to make fresh water? When used intelligently, fresh water can grow plants that can turn the desert into fresh land again.
How come, local politicians, etc. don't make deals to give land away, if companies also fight the desertification? It seems like no one in Europe wants to -give a little, so they can get a little. -

Benidorm ( a town in Spain that I have never heard of before) sounds and looks just like our Gold Coast in Queensland. Similarly a fishing village of the 1950s which has been the 'development central' for Australian real estate and tourist traps, and a place which I really detest. I shall remember to avoid Benidorm at all costs when I travel to Spain!

Humans are a cancer upon the earth, and by our destruction of the living biosphere, we too will be destroyed; which is fair, we deserve our impending extinction after what we have done and continue to do to Mother Earth. As George Carlin said, the planet will shake us off like a bunch of fleas.
