In this second video about great explorers, let's retrace the Travels of Marco Polo across Asia, accompanied by his father and his uncle Ruhollah: The goal of the Social Mind Center is to promote interdisciplinary research that examines the relationship between sociality and cognition. The goal of research activities at this center is a new understanding of how the human mind enables and constrains social life, including the coordination and transmission of ideas and actions, and how the human mind is shaped by cultural practices. Interdisciplinary research in this center integrates cognitive psychology, neuroscience and robotics approaches to cognition with social science approaches and philosophical approaches that target the interaction between biological and cultural factors that determine the human mind.
The Social Mind Center consists of three research groups:
Cognition and Comparative Economics (ACE)
Language Comprehension Laboratory (LCL)
OStension, communication and communication (OSCAR)
SOCIAL MIND AND BODY (SOMBY)1234

This sad video. There's no evidence of any kind that Polo got to China. Ever. I do understand: everyone wants to believe: I believed when I was young and hadn't read the sources. The farthest he got was present-day Afghanistan. And he was there for quite some time. And he heard all sorts of semi-true and totally fanciful stories. This is why his writings up to Afghanistan are pretty trustworthy, and why his writings (supposedly) after Afghanistan are like fairy tales. When are we just going to let this fiction die a quiet death?

I don't doubt anything said in this video, but I would really enjoy a list of sources, even if it may be filled with websites you need to pay for a subscription for or hard to get books or something similar. I'm doing a little project that I would most definitely love using the sources you used here for it as I think my project and this video overlap quite a bit.

Sometimes I wonder how it feels discovering new places, things, animals, and society without having any knowledge or pictures to be seen. That excitement of exploring new things from the past is probably the closest thing reality has from fantasies.

FUN FACT: The Travels of Marco Polo is called Il Milione (The Million) because Marco Polo traveled so many places he thought he traveled a million countries which was absurd at the time, and as a matter of fact only Rustichello believed him

That would be an awesome journey back then. To travel the known world and see all the amazing sights along the way. The only comparable thing I can think of the oriental express. I'd love to go back in time to see the ancient world.

I've watched a lot of your videos. The Origins of humans and their spread around the world would be an interesting video idea! I know it'll be hard work, but Sapiens from Yuval Noah Harari is a nice read to use as a source.

Why the voiceover change? Who are theses guys? What if you make a video introducing who you are & if are up for it, a face reveal. Though I say all this out of curiosity.

This whole marco polo journey is obviously made up written by some romance author. His peers knew that 800 years ago but somehow today people belive it, hilarious.

Marco Polo travelled to the then country of Madagascar and he thought it was the wealthy Somali capital Mogadishu, naming it Madgascar in his travels

From Sri Lanka Marco Polo travelled extensively in India particularly the South of India and has written extensively about his observations.

He also was the first to discover the North Sentinel Island people. He observed campfires on the island and the natives wearing masks.
