Vlad's history should read. man cares enough about his specie and culture to do what needed to be done to save his country from decimation and Division.
I respect him, -and not many others-, I would be the same way today if it mattered anymore. probably worse.
He knew first hand what it meant to be invaded on a personal level. and the last nail went in as he was imprisoned by his supposed own flesh and blood. In his time. I would have killed the family members that I felt weren't close enough to me to go unnoticed

Although I do think Vlad is a bit cruel, he isn-t nearly to the level of some of the other people on this list. First of all, some of the things he did he had to do or else he and his people would either be conquered or completely annihilated by the Ottoman Turks. Second of all, he is considered a National hero by modern and past Romanians. It-s just my opinion, but I just disagree with calling him such a cruel ruler.
reply

Compared to other rulers back then, Queen Mary wasn-t the cruelest. She killed a handful of protestants because she wanted to send a message to the people that she wanted a Christian country. She didn-t slaughter every single protestant but killed many as a message. I simply think she-s deranged in a sad way. Her story is quite sad, you-d understand what I mean by that.

Perhaps the West doesn't know but the most horrific genocide in the history of humanity was not just of the Jews, but was of Hindus. Hindus in India have lost more than 80 million lives in the last 1000 years. The most peaceful religion in the world. Please open your eyes and see the side that was hidden by liberals of India and by the west liberalism.

Did not mention the colonizing of the Americas, the at least 56 million death toll of the local Native population after 1492. Did not mention chattel slavery of the America, how Turman dropped the A bomb, Americas Imperialism throughout much of the world has shaped our modern world in ignorant ways. Such propaganda.

When I was a teenager in the sixties we had an Anglican seminarian from Uganda work in my Episcopal parish for the summer. He mesmerized a bunch of Applalachian kids by walking and talking while bouncing a soccer ball on his head. Years later I heard he was martyred by Idi Amin. What a waste of a good man-s life.

How come mao zedong of china didn't make into this list, when his policies were responsible for killing 65-70 million deaths in china. Compare to Mao's level of genocide the people in this list are bunch of amateurs except for Genghis khan. And also you missed out Leopold of belgium
reply

Where is George Bush who is responsible for the killing of million of Iraqis?
Also, Queen Isabella of Spain who enpowered Spanish Inquisition and King Leopold of Belgium who caused mesery to millions of Congolese?

reply

I love that the video started with -many great leaders throughout history used compassion, hard work, & valuing the individual as their guiding principle-- we are losing sight of that every day
reply

#1 should be Caligula.
His rule doesn't have an astronomical body count to it, but he surpasses everyone else on this list in terms of savage, brute violence, and bloodlust.

reply

Mr Stalin aka the original leader under a party called the Democratic Socialist party. And yes that is the party, shoot the protestors, Bernie Sanders happens to be a part of
reply

I think number 9 on this list, Queen Mary 1, shouldn-t even be on the list.
She burned 300 people. while that-s bad, I can think of way worse leader living today.
