This is a new video within our Romans in color project. This time we have made the animated faces of the most famous members of Julii-Claudii dynasty, to we have the abitity to look at their faces, how they could look like in real life. The reconstructed images are based on the corresponding sculptures, as well as ancient narrative sources about hair, skin and eyes colours. UPD: sorry I've missed the description, he is Gaius Caesar (Caligula) Watching 'Domina' series and your video is amazing. Especially Agrippa, Drusus the elder and Livia. They do look like their busts and real humans at the same time

I love these recreations. To be able to look at the faces of people who had such a huge impact on our history but have been dead for two mellenia is fantastic. Keep it up!

Although these recreations are great, I have to add that Julius Caesar was described by Roman sources as pale and Caligula as pallid.

I’m reading I Claudius by Robert Graves and all these people are mentioned, so cool to get an idea what they looked like.

I'm glad to see that Emperor Title Text is finally getting his long overdue recognition.

Faces like these you can still see in Italy, especially in the North.

They look just like the actors in I Claudius. (Except for Augustus)
reply

Very interesting. A couple of them were startling, even. Not sure why.
