How did Germany plan to conquer Britain in WW2? - Operation SeaLion Im pretty sure that Germany was not seriously looking for an equal alliance with Britain. The two countries had a rivalry going back as great powers, and regarded each other with a degree of contempt. The British had severely blockaded and starved Germany during WWII, causing suffering on the German people, especially the young. Germany regarded the British as moral hypocrites, even if a powerful rival, they did not consider them their equal.
What is more likely is that Germany was looking for a cease-fire, then planned to -Finlandize- them, similar to what the Soviets did in Finland, by making them aquiescent to their demands. Manipulate them with a carrot and stick approach, part peace, another part intimidation. One step above being a vassal state, like Vichy France.\r\n

If britain won the war then why is there a german man in Buckingham palace thet has been crowned King history is a lie it's just his story they are all intruders even the mps theres even illegal criminal migrants working for sheffield city council harrassing and troubleing local people trying to force them to move out & even sell their homes it's abomination & magna Carta Clause 61 states when the people are wronged by the crown and no remedy is forthcoming after all steps have been exhausted then the people may take whatever action is necessary to obtain satisfaction without fear of reprisal.

I dont think they ever thought Sea Lion would ever invade and conquered Britain, I think it was a bit of a plan they the German High Command cooked up to keep Adolf happy. I really think they always knew that it wouldn-t work even if they got air supremacy, you cannot defeat a naval power by using a sea crossing and maritime assault, it wasn-t going to work, it would have ended the war 2 years earlier than it did if they had tried.

Can't imagone how terrified people must have been to see this unstoppable war machine that had conquored Euope in mere months knowing that Britain was next. All European allies were gone and the only allies britain had left were oceans away sending all help they could from Canada, Australia and New Zealand. There was nowhere left to retreat too.
The Nazis were coming.

-These three principles - ruthless competition, free trade at any cost, and the investment of money without any regard to blood, nation, or race are fundamental to the international capitalism in the interests of which Britain has mobilized her forces to destroy National-Socialist Germany. - - William Joyce, -Twilight Over England-, 1940

The Battle of Britain was a missed opportunity for Germany to drop Paratroops at strategic locations and land troops on the south coast. They went wrong by kust concentrating on one task, which was to destroy the RAF so they had air superiority. It should have been a multi pronges attack with the air battle as a diversion.

It would have been an audacious attempt even if the won the battle of Britain but I doubt they would have succeeded. Firstly, the Royal Navy was then 10x the size of the Germans navy and even getting troops over with air superiority, our defences were set up and we were already prepared for any landings of the kind.

Beautiful, People keeping all German words in German, when it makes no sense not to translate them, e g. for newcomers, like panzer, Luftwaffe, wehrmacht, kriegsmarine, stuka.
And then translating an official code word that could actually just be an acronym and not even mean what it seems to mean, like sea lion

03: 45 on this particular point the germans were absolutlely right considering the fact that, after the fall of France, the british decided to sink almost the entire french navy fleet, which would had given to the germans a power over the sea similar to the english fleet. This factor was decisive on this campaign.

In all the subsequent war games that they carried out after WW2 they found there was no possible way the Nazis could have invaded the UK. The only way that they managed to make it work was when they got rid of the entire Royal Navy. In other words, they only invaded when they had to install hacks.

Germany should have stopped and rested after defeating France, they Germans suffered their worst consequence by attacking the Soviet Union and allied with Japan to pull the US in; Germany's great arrogance cost Germany too much during the two world wars.

If this did happen I think it would be one of if not the deadliest battle of the war the British would fight to the last man and those that survived would probably evacuate to Canada which had a formidable navy and air force its self
reply

Only way Germany can succeed is if the Japanese Navy came to the assistance of the Germans, the Japanese navy hold off the Royal Navy while the Germans focus on the landing and Invasion of GB.

The only way to defeat the British is to take away our tea and biscuits, the only way to get a peace deal is offer unlimited tea and biscuits. Literally made a empire over these 2 things

When I heard that Britain was on the brink of losing it's mainland
As an Indian I just wished if that had happened after that the British would have got taste of their own medicine

13: 36 Perhaps a few French soldiers were killed in the British attack on Mers-el-Kebir, but the vast majority of the French personnel killed were SAILORS, not soldiers.
reply

Be honest guys. You would have lost if not for the U. S. finally getting involved. U. K. had a powerful military, but the Germans had most of Europe. U. K. needed help.

Back in the 70's the BBC wargames Sea Lion w/ 3 former British general/admiral/air marshal and 3 former German general/admiral/air general. Sea Lion failed, miserably.

The Germans have conquered the UK with their control of the EUssr, and re-joiners want to be run by them and their friends and historical enemies of the UK France

Germany only toke half of Polen your map is wrong, Bornholm was occupied together with Denmark, only half of france was occupied, Vichy was later occupied.

This is an excellent overview. the reality is that Germany-s mauling by the Royal Navy in the Norwegian fiords made a successful invasion impossible.
reply

Sealion was a pipe dream that never had any hope of success. Even with hypothetical air superiority, the invasion force would have been mincemeat.

The Blitz didn't just happen in London. Cities like Kingston-upon-Hull took more damage as a overall percentage of the city than London

11: 02 calling it great Britin at that frame of the video while it's burning is kinda funny, they were not that great.
reply

I must admit Britain has more warriors than the French if we look throughout history Germany literally conquered Paris
reply

Not sure if this is possible, but wouldnt the German italian and japanese navies been able to overpower the royal navy?
reply

As a german, it's still Operation not -unternehmen- we steal a lot of engish words and just pronounce them german
