Stephan the Great defeated an Ottoman imperial army of 30, 000 that invaded Moldova in a harsh winter and snow storm, and annihilated half of them in a surprise attack,
but in 1476 the Badshah invaded Moldova in the summer with the imperial army of 120, 000 from the south and crushed Stephan's Moldovan army easily and slaughtered 40, 000 rebel Moldovans and hung 12, 000 in gallows, and the brave hero of Christians Stefan was forced to flee to North, and the Tatars invaded and ravaged his kingdom with killing and destruction taking many spoils and captives

Stefan the Great was voted 2nd or 3rd most important figure in Romanian history in a great televised competition with huge popular participation like 20 years or so ago. very under-rated historical figure for the area outside of Romania and Republic of Moldova. -
The figure that managed to take 1st place however was Michael the Brave, the first unifier of all majority Romanian medieval/historical parts (even if that didnt last long, the blueprint was -activated- and was just a question of time.

After his defeat in 1476, the Ottomans left several garrisons in Moldova, and Stephen the great did not again dare to disobey the Ottoman Badshah. Moldova became a tributary vassal state under the protection of the Ottomans, paying tributes, and ottomans succeeded in annihilating several Polish and Hungarian armies that tried to invade them.

This guy is like the Genghis Khan of what is now Romanian moldova and rep of moldova in the sense that 1/5 th of the modern pop of these territories are direct descendents of this guy, this dude basicly fked all the woemen in the country back then due to his brave warrior clout.
