The nomination of Commodus was a disgrace, that's for sure, but it's not the only cause of the delcine.
Rome never had a clear system for the succession. That, together with the growth of the army and the decrease of power of the senate, would cause the military anarchy in any case: it was just a matter of time.

I'm just wondering why Marcus Aurelius, a stoic philosopher and great thinker, could have chosen his son Commodus as his heir. It seems so out of character for him to have chosen his own reckless child, rather than an equally stoic and visionary citizen, to succeed him.

As a Persian, I just LOVE my country and its remarkable history. It's kinda like a GOT series but it's way more entertaining and it's also real.

Concuering Armenia and colonization of it, without upgrading its defense and army led to fall of Roman and later Byzantine empires.

Trajan is the only good emperor among these 5. & Hadrian allowed the Parthians to recover instead of nailing their coffin.
