I am Mexican and this video of Mexico history is overall acceptable despite most British and Americans historians tell the history from their biased version.
Here are more facts about New Spain / Mexico history:
1. - New Spain was Viceroyalty and never was a colony but just another extension of Spain, meaning native americans held the same rights and were citizens as the peninsulares of Spain empire. The encomienda purpose was to convert faster the native americans to Christianism, but is undeniable abuses happens.
2. - Mexico city was richer and prosperous than any of the 13 colonies in USA and all European cities.
3. - San Bartolome de las Casas horror stories against the native americans were inflated and exaggerated by the french, british, Dutch and germans to destabilize regions in Europe conquered by spaniards.
Also these stories were used by USA elites and freemasons to divide and fragment the Spanish viceroyalties in the Americas. Many leaders suchs as Santa Anna in Mexico or Simon Bolivar in South America were part of freemasonry looking for their own interest.
These stories told by San Bartolome de las Casas are known as the Leyenda Negra (black myths) and were spread in the last 100 years in Latin American affecting negatively and resentments against Spain.

Neat video. To further polish this video, I suggest reading Zunzunegui and Marcello Gullo, they give deeper and more nuanced insights on colonial society. Also it would be nice to have mention of the Nao de China, how that in addition to Indigenous and European roots, added Asian roots to Mexico as Mexican culture was greatly shaped by the Nao de China(La China Poblana, Sesame seeds on Mole) as well as architeture during its time (Parian of Mexico City, a semi-permanent structure with Asian influences)

The short answer is Mexico became independent because of Napolean.
The real question is how Mexico is a real country today.
They don't control the north where the Cartels are in charge.
They get pissed off because Trump wants to TAX money transfers to Mexico.
They call for illegal aliens to riot in Los Angeles.
Oh and Mexicans are extremely racist against Americans.
I say shut down trade with Mexico. America does not need imported tacos.

There was no such thing as Mexico before and during the Spanish conquest. It was just the Aztec empire, Purepecha empire and other native tribes. Mexico became a country when it declared independence from Spain. So Spain did not colonize Mexico. And Many Mexicans are descendants of the Spanish conquistadors themselves and are mestizo, Spanish through paternal lineage and Native American through maternal lineage.

Mexico did not contain 25 million people pre colonial times. This was a debunked guess from Henry dobyns, Woodrow Norah and sherbourne cook in the 1970s. Archaeological works show the population of central Mexico at 5 million and all of what would be new Spain at 10 million, declining by 90% to 1 million in 1650. It’s absurd to think central Mexico had three times as many people as all of Spain did

There was no Mexican identity prior to Spanish colonization and the independence of New Spain. All those different groups had their own identity and cultures. So, calling them Mexicans is inaccurate

Central Americans were not called Mexicans but Guatemalans. The captaincy of Guatemala was never under the control of New Spain, it received direct orders from Spain.
