What if you have almost all of these? I think I have all of these and yes I do feel lots of stress and anxiety all the time. I am 44 and I guess I just learned to cope with the stress and anxiety but it's not fun. Another thing I do alot is, if there is someone I need to talk to or something I have to handle I will go over it in my head. Over and over again until I have the perfect words or perfect sentences. When I have to talk to that person or situation I feel alot of stress and anxiety and I rush through my perfect speech in my head and leave parts out cause I can't deal with the anxiety and I just want to get it over with. Anyone else do this or am I the only one? Also I do the same thing with phone calls go over it in my head a bunch of times but keep putting it off because I get so much anxiety calling people alot of times I won't make the call at all yet obsess over it all day. I hate making phone calls.

The environment shares the big part of guilt for someone's anxiety.
(Sub)consciously leaving someone aside, not including that person in narrow circle of compsny, not just being a scenography, creates and enlarges many of these anxiety features.
A long streak of bad events, things gone wrong, bad circumstances that You can't escape from, and they do severely negatively impact You, create strong foundations for the anxiety. Human body reacts naturally, defensively. In normal situations, environmental negative cycle eventually ends fast enough (it does not last too long) so body and mind can turn to leisure happy mode.
Persistent tantalizing environment and circumstances that You can't escape from, feeds the anxiety to obesity.

My anxiety seems to forbid me from planning ahead, making commitments and making life changing decisions. I find it very difficult to look for new jobs because I'm never sure if I will enjoy them, or I might prove to be a failure. I have avoided asking my partner of 17 years to marry me in case she says no, or that I will be a useless husband. Or forming a band of my own because I want the members to feel it is worthwhile. I even didn't bother studying for my school exams, over 30 years ago, because I don't really know what questions I will be asked and that I will have wasted my time studying the wrong things. I failed all my exams, by the way.

There is a BIG! I mean BIG! issue with this video, as the video goes on it touches on things that aren't just high functioning anxiety but are in fact symptoms of other mental health disorders. So it stops being this is specific to high function anxiety and is overlapping into issue experienced in other problems that aren't high function anxiety or really anxiety at all. You need a clinical psych to go over these video's that would lead someone new to mental health to think yes all these things is what i have high function anxiety while they touch quite a lot of other mental health issues and problem.

Emmm. Yes to almost everything. However, I am not sure if new people or people I know make me more nervous. With entirely new people I can always decide it's fine, I'll never see them again anyway and proceed to. not network or make new friends.
I have managed to crack some part of this problem recently. You have to accept anxiety. If you try to fight it, it gets worse, because then you are also anxious about being anxious. Instead, you go like yep, my hands are shaking because I need to make a call. Well so be it, I can still press the right buttons. It's surprisingly powerful.

7: Unforgiving. .. To yourself
Yes
For years I have - only half-jokingly - said that I wouldn't hold others to the standards I expect from myself. .. That wouldn't be fair
It's easy to give others the benefit of the doubt
But I know me, and I know I don't deserve it
And I consider this a triumph on my part.
Recognizing that I hold myself to these unreasonable expectations, realizing that I'm the only one who's disappointed in me.
And saying it out loud, to acknowledge that it's not exactly a secret. That my friends have been trying to tell me this for years

As for no. 10, I tend to try and keep myself busy to try and cover all the bases, so that tomorrow it won't be a problem. Sometimes if I leave without doing this obsessive over thinking, I feel like I've forgotten something important and it will affect the next day. I don't leave at the right time, I leave much much later due to checking that I am all done. or so I think. Its very time consuming, but I know for the following day, it will go smoothly. when I finally stop. I freeze with mental exhaustion. Oh. HFA

I've been suffering from anxiety for all all my life. I relate to many examples but I'm not a perfectionist. My anxiety makes me be messy and whatever I do i can't be fully concentrated on what I do, so iend up being an imperfectionist, I need to be with people and soliutide and autonomy terrifie me

Yup that's my life and has been for most of it. I'm now 70 and it's getting harder to deal with. I just started on med's and It just make me so tired that all I want to do is sleep. Nothing gets done. I'm calling the Dr. tomorrow to see about a change in the med's.

These symptoms are debilitating. High functioning is what others may see, but these things can break you from functioning at all. Its anxiety for you and if you are expected to continue functioning well. that just makes it worse. Diagnosed, severe anxiety disorder

Slow response to no response, relates to me so much. Fearing that people dont like me or that I am not interesting enough, more often than not, its not the case, but I cant shake it. Rarely do I show anxiety, but in my head, Im screaming!

Why the hell am I so upset for some damn dumb crazy reasons that for some other reasons I seem uneasy about trying to control! Or am I now being too so unreasonable that I have chosen to ignore my goals? Arg.

I related to every single thing in this video. I knew something had to be wrong, nobody around me could relate to me. Thank you. This helped me understand myself better.

This is just regular anxiety, like I have. You clarified nothing to distinguish a difference between regular anxiety and high functioning anxiety.

This sounds exactly like me. Add to that the fact that I'm an introvert with OCD. I'm surprised that I can function at all.
