Do you think you might have a crush on someone who is emotionally unavailable? Emotionally unavailability means that someone is unable to connect with the emotions of others, and potentially themselves. In a relationship, this can lead to a lack of emotional fulfillment and compatibility. To help you avoid further heartbreak in the future, we made this video to help you identify the signs someone may be emotionally unavailable. Credits

Bold of you to asume all people are trustworthy. I feel trapped in relationships and like someone is constantly pushing me to do things I am not ready for. I especially hate when someone starts to strangle me with talk about future or meeting their parents after 2 or 3 months of relationship. It is too soon and I mean you don't really know someone after 2 months. I've been hurt and betrayed in all types in relationships. I've learned that I can only truly count on myself. When I was going through thick and thin only few family members were on my side. When I have negative emotions I need to pull away to process them on my own. Talking about that with someone only increases my anxiety will they tell that later to someone what is bothering me or use that againts me later in an argument. No wonder I've built the walls around. When you keep someone on a distance it will hurt less if they try to hurt you in any way.

Another sign that I know myself using is mixed signals and faking emotions and facial expressions, im constantly playing hot and cold. One day I will be super loving to get them on the hook and they next day I will act cold towards them. Then when I notice they pull away I will turn up the flirting only for when they eventually reciprocate turn away again. It is kinda miserable knowing that it is impossible for me to have a real relationship. Most of the time I try to justify my behaviour that I do towards others, toying with their emotions etc. This way I never feel bad about it. But I just feel like I cannot have a deep connection with anyone, fault lies with my own insecurities, even tho deep down I want one hence the mixed signals.

This was my best friend who I had to say goodbye to recently. She always blameshifted back to her issues when I wanted to discuss important topics about her and how she made me feel in the relationship or made excuses. And if I needed to talk about something in my life that was upsetting me she wasn't present to comfort me, and we would just end up talking about her life. It's my fault, too because I put her up on the pedestal. My heart is broken. And she doesn't care. I wasn't trying to manipulate her. I have PTSD. Also, I'm a dark empath who's done psychotherapy. I hate her for this.

ERROR: Lack of deep and meaningful emotional relationships.
As a child of a Covert Narcissist, I have always BEEN open and vulnerable, willing and eager to engage, connect, and grow deep with people.
Problem: due to my mother's isolating me from my entire family and from normal friendships. I DID NOT DEVELOP THE SOCIAL SKILLS, scientists prove that the BRAIN misses the early development of these skills, then, does not recover them. one has to LEARN them, but they struggle.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN I AM EMOTIONALLY UNAVAILABLE! Quite the contrary! I meet men who ARE!

ugh man I'm trying to get to the core of why my crush is acting the way he is, and this hit differently. We talked recently and we both recognize that a relationship would not work out; he says it's partly because he doesn't believe in the concept of relationships but also because he couldn't provide stability for me at the moment. And let me tell ya I'm sensing severe attachment issues here. I feel like there's something going on and weighing him down deep inside. Crush or not, I just wanna be there for him. but like idk to what extent i can actually help.

I just went through a breakup. He's very emotionally unavailable and all these points apply and myself being very emotional and my love languages being quality time and physical touch it was so hard to make it work. I felt like he didn't love me or care at all about me. He had bad father figures in his life and I know he went through a lot. But it's very difficult to help someone who won't open up. It was very bad for my mental health so I had to choose to put myself first.

I am just now realizing how emotionally unavailable I am and have been. I dont care for friends, deep connections or people in general. I love being alone, hanging out by myself, going out to eat myself, essentially doing everything by myself so theres that. Sometimes I see others with friends and I think about how great it would be to have friends but tbh I just dont care that much. If I keep on this path of loving my loneliness so much I might rot.

Well I thought of myself that I am emotionally unavailable, because of a lot of trauma and problems I had to live through the last two years, and I told my now boyfriend back then too, that I am absolutely unavailable. I don't really see myself in this video tho. After watching this I get why my boyfriend also had the feeling that I am not completly unavailable and kept being on my side to see how things may turn out. I am very happy he didnt gave up

I had this girl who liked me a whole lot, it was the first time anyone had actually liked me that way so I just went along with it. She kept talking to me and trying to be a common part of my life but that's when I realized something. I had been alone for so long that it was hard to be around others. I tried to stay in the relationship for her sake but it ended with her liking me even more. She got too close and I pushed her away.

I don't have many deep relationships but other simptoms are not. So is there a spectrum of this? My parents are not in a good relationship since I was a child. My mum ended up left the house without a word. I was in many bad relationships lasted only a month to a year. I'm 37 this year and has no relationship or dating someone for years already. I just wondering am I an emotionally unavailable kind of person
reply

I just realized this. I was hooking up with this girl a lot recently and it was amazing, at first it was going well we agreed to be just fwbs. But as time went I developed, and I think she sensed lately shes been pushing me away, it hurts but she admitted it from the start, so I cant complain.

I don't really agree with the compassion one I agree with all the others but for me I feel uncomfortable crying sometimes but if my friend was crying I would support and have compassion for them. With my mental illness it's like i am kind and compassionate to everyone else but myself

We have been friends for 2 years I finally asked him to hang out twice and both times he immediately said yes and was gebuinely interested but said he is going thru shit and offered sometime in the future. we have gotten so much closer lately but I'm still not where I want to be!

This describes my ex gf perfectly. She kept saying I was emotionally unavailable because I wasn't up her ass 24/7. She legit was my friend for 2 years first, knew I was a single father and after a year together we moved in together. She started getting jealous of my kids.

This is bad advice. Dont tale advice form white women. They cant keep a man satisfied. They only want their needs to be fulfilled but dont ask them for anything in return! All the nice guys in their life are in the friend zone and the chads are smashing and leaving.

I tend to become shy when it comes to showing and sharing about my true feelings to others. Does that make me emotionally unavailable? and I also tend to distance myself from people when something goes wrong instead of talking things out
reply

No no emotionally unavailable person does not lack of compassion. They really compassionate if someone wants to tell their stories, they can be a good listener. But they dont want to tell their stories. They dont want to reciprocate.
reply

I wanted to know more about what it is to be emotionally unavailable. OMG I failed five of the six. No wonder I suck with my relationship. Well at least I have compassion. I did find out here recently that I have intimacy issues.
reply

Based on this description of emotional availability, it sounds more like the person just isn't into you.
Why does this need to have a derogatory label of emotionally unavailable when it Simply means they don't like you?

reply

I was emotionally unavailable for over a decade after a disastrously bad break-up.
Then, recently, things happened that helped open me back uponly to fall for someone who is, herself, currently emotionally unavailable.

reply

Yes He is very uncomfortable when I express my feelings towards him and he keeps me at a distance. It's not what I want or deserve so I think I need to move on to someone that knows what they want and can see my value.
reply

Not everyone is neurotypical and some of these signs can be due to having ADHD or being autistic and host of other so called disorders. By the way I watched Queen's Gambit and it was a great show.
reply

I reviewed a past relationship I unilaterally ended two years ago. I checked off 5 of the 6 blocks. I chose correctly. If you can do at least 2/3s of this list, get out while you can.
reply

when it comes to men, how do you know the difference between emotional unavailability and just general struggles men have to connect to and share emotions?
reply
