I had social anxiety from an early age. I was comfortable only with my family and close friends. Whenever I meet new people I get anxiety, I felt uncomfortable with them and many odd thoughts would come in my head regarding how my first impression was, my body language, how I looked, if they liked me, and more. and then I would kinda freaked out from the inside. As I grew up, I faced worse. Due to a personal trauma, I caught up depression, more type of anxieties and also went through a lot of panic attacks, but at first it was just about sadness and loneliness from a certain situation. Bcoz later on, it became something else, I got mood swings and felt a rollercoaster of negative emotions for no reason! It became something that was within me, my own mind, and I don't directly think of something like a past bad situation or event in my life. I don't know its just like an. Unexplainable, unspoken sadness. It was so hard for me to stay alive because everyday it was getting worse, I thought a lot about taking me own life and also about ways of how to die! Like literally. But I never had the guts bcoz I was terrified of feeling pain coz one way or the other I had to feel pain to die. So I just suffered for several months and felt like I had already dead and I was just wandering like an automated robot or a zombie. I didn't had any interest in anything or any enthusiasm in me. Although I learned a lot of life lessons and realized many things about other people and myself in that time period, still all I felt was sadness and mental pain till date. At that time, I was also kinda willing to live in a loop of a moment in time forever where I had happiness inside of me bcoz at least it will be better than living though I wasn't alive. But it is not possible so then what could I do, I begged for happiness in my life from I don't know whom. I just begged! But no matter how much hope I kept or how much I craved, I begged, no miracle came along, nothing happened like it happens in movies. Nothing. Reality isn't kind in real like it seems in movies and it was not my choice to be in that state of mind. It felt like my life would be forever dark, empty, cold, lonely. After a long awful battle, for some period of time, I finally overcame my mental illness by doing things that I was afraid of, but eventually after some time it comes back again, that hopeless feeling like I was being sucked out from my mind. It's like a never ending war, like battling with the water at the seashore, the waves just come and goes and come and goes by their own. and it's like whatever u do doesn't even matter, it's just so strong and so painful. I had no one to share it bcoz I thought no one would understand. I told my sister, and I guess she understood for about a 30 percent but it doesn't matter bcoz she forgets it and like everybody else she is more focused on herself than others. So for the time being, I will keep trying to push away every negative feeling that comes in my head. I will keep trying my best to not react to my emotions and to keep calm and keep hope coz the sunshine in my life is yet to come. So I hope that everybody does it too. don't ignore your problems, face them and try your best to overpower them. Be a conqueror! U're not alone. Everybody else around you is fighting too.

so uhhh I'm petrified of being judged or looked at by ppl my age/a lil older. I told my parents and my mom said that they won't take any notice of you. So now I feel as if I don't matter but STILL judged. I'm seeing some therapist soon (in 2 weeks) so I'm rly happy that this could be over soon: D
I'm also going to a new school in September (the toughest school in my area) I'm so scared bc a lot of ppl from my old school are going there too and they remember me as the 'quiet, sad kid' so if I get confidence from going to therapy, it won't matter bc they know the old me.
Also (I'm sorry for rambling on btw)
Bc I'm an only child I feel lonely and I don't know trends and stuff bc I don't have older siblings to copy if that makes sense. Most of the ppl in my old class that hv older siblings got social media at a young age bc they have it too. I didn't know how to have fun a few months ago bc I don't have younger siblings to play with. At family gatherings ppl focus on me but if I had siblings, I wouldn't be as noticed/stand out.
I'm very lucky for everything that I own and ik a lot of ppl are doing way worse than I am, but I just wanted to share this.
Have a great day/night
(sry for any grammar mistakes, I try to type quickly so I don't make stuff up)

One of the things that I did to overcome social anxiety is, well its very hard and the reason I was able to do it because my mom made me do it but, even if you dont wanna go to the public setting where theres a lot of people at least give it a shot and do whatever you can to calm down. Start off with close friends and family and slowly work up to more friend meetups or parties. It doesnt guaranteed you to be the social butterfly and be social but it helps fight irrational thoughts on its gonna be bad and when its better then you think youll eventually be less scared. That was one way for me to beat avoiding public settings and meetings like that. It may not be for everyone but it was one way for me to beat it. I still get very anxious and have those irrational thoughts of people judging me but Im aware at least I beat the habit of staying isolated or staying in my house forever because Im scared and its not much but little progress matters.

Bro, none of my family or friends understand how hard it is having social anxiety. Here is some reasons I have social anxiety. 1. Im scared on the way I look since Im fat and Im scared to face it. 2. I hate the fact how I act like because Im scared of how people find me like weird. 3. I never know how to strike up a conversation. Its so hard to find a topic and I can never do it right because I mess up a lot. 4. Im not even ready to meet new people and my family is just forcing me. 5. The way I dress. Its so hard to try to look good for others but it always ends up being a flop and I get embarrassed. I hate the way Im like this. I wish I was just in kindergarten not having any worries. I hate my life.

Because of the pandemic, I started becoming an introvert and my shyness increased until it reached to social anxiety, I have been having trouble with starting a conversation or how to flow a conversation, I also find myself stutter when talking, it sometimes makes me feel like I talked too much or let too much words out and It always worries me, it makes me feel like I made a mistake that will change the way people look and think about me. Now I'm here and I'm quite certain that I have social anxiety but I think it's not that serious yet, I guess sure is better than sorry.

Im starting to get outside the box when talking to others. Its scary yes. Let me tell you something, so i had an appointment with my doctor's assistant and she was asking me questions and talking to me (pretty sure she was trying to make me comfortable with her) I was so scared that i kept moving my eyes somewhere else but i forced my eyes to make contact and after speaking to her for a few mins my lips/mouth starts to quiver? Tremble? Im not sure but it was like twitching. im sure it was because of me being nervous. I usually breathe in and out to calm myself.

It's like one of my darkest fear now. I will think about impressions of people about me, how embarrassing I will be, too much. Even in my first online class, I cry infront of my mom and tell about it and she say she will say it to my teacher. It's also causing one of depression to me again. I'm an intovert and ifnj, sometimes, when I meet new people, I will feel very shy and afraid of everyone. Thank you Psych2go! Take care

1) Create awareness (of your thoughts)
- More often, our negative thoughts are untrue and they stem from our own insecurities from ourselves.
- CHALLENGE AND DISARM these intrusive thoughts.
2) Diaphragmic breathing
3) Yoga
4) set realistic goals
5) do art
- social anxiety regulated in amygdala
- helps you work out your imperfections and make something beautiful out of it
6 - therapy

I hate it when people say just get out of your comfort zone First of all when the hell was being alone a comfort zone. I never felt comfortable having social anxiety. Its not easy to overcome it and I just wish some people could just understand. I love how you give us actual advice instead of telling us to get out of your comfort zone. And its not introversion or being shy. Those are totally different things.

My social anxiety always act up during online classes, i was shaking so bad, my voice is shaking which makes me harder to talk. Whenever i want to answer, my heart is thumping really loud. I have to calm down by taking deep breath and drinking water. i couldn't even write because my hand is shaking.
i've tried to overcome it but i still experience the same thing over and over again: (

I had this project where I had to present it in front of my whole class, which I didn't like and broke down into tears wondering what people thought about me. Also, recently one of my friends said that nobody likes me right after I got in my seat on the bus, and it made me feel insecure, but luckily I go through therapy but I don't really know if it's helping a lot. But thanks for the tips

Goals never work for me. If I make a goal to go sit by someone, or hell even interact with someone near me, Ill never make it. The anxiety wins over and over again, its persistent. And then theres that one time I do try and it doesnt go as naturally as I want it to and it only leaves me embarrassed, wanting to sink into the floor and not exist, and I swear to myself to never try again

Not sure if this will help anyone else, but when I'm in my gym class, my social anxiety spikes. The one thing that pushes me through what we're doing is reminding myself that itll only be temporary. If say we were playing baseball and I was up to bat, if I hit it or miss it, itll be over no matter what. Just push through and sometimes it turns out that everything was fine after all!

My social anxiety has gotten even worst, simple things like buying and going outside is so uncomfortable. I'm scared of what my future would be if i keep going this way, their high expectation towards me makes me sick. At this age, i still rely on my mother, i cant do things without her. I just wish to stay at home the whole time and don't attend school

I'm sitting here hungry but afraid to go out just to buy food, I know my thoughts aren't real but still hard to overcome, am just here trying to find educational videos so I can go out.
sounds pathetic but please don't corner people when they experience something like this and make them feel even worse, no one wants this.

I never had social anxiety as a kid but growing up into an adult, I was constantly criticized and put down by my stepdad and that caused my low self esteem which fallowed into adulthood. Also, had many fake friends that secretly talked behind my back and that also traumatized me so I avoided people and making friends.

I have severe social anxiety and none of my Freinds get it I am in middle school and they try to trigger it but I am too scared to unfriend them or else I would die from what they would do but this really helped I told them we where no longer Freinds and I did not care that they told 18 people I love them

My social anxiety is bad, but not as bad as 10 years ago. I would sweat just walking into a store. Eating at a table with a lot of people still makes me shaky and nervous. The more i learn to not care what people think the better i will become. Baby steps is better than no steps
