How do you communicate with yourself throughout the day? Negative self talk can damage your self-esteem, self-worth, and confidence. To help you be more aware of how you talk to yourself, here are a few common yet dangerous self-talk phrases you should stop using

1. I am worthless
2. I'm not good enough
3. I'm fine
4. Everything is fine
5. People are better than I am
6. I'm not deserving of help
I often say these to myself because I focus too much on people rather than me. Also I act like everything's okay and that it's fine because I don't want to burden everyone around me with my problems because then it feels like I'm putting pressure on them to focus on me and my issues and that they might see me as just an attention seeker or judge me in a negative way, so I tend to bury them instead of talking them out with someone.
Which is unhealthy, I know.
I'm trying to improve myself but I just fell back and it becomes this neverending cycle that I just can't seem to break. I am trying my best, it's just difficult rn: (

It's not your fault --> well if it's not my fault then it's someone else's fault and I can't do anything to fix this by myself
it's okay to ask for help and don't be afraid to express your true feelings > okay then if my friends get tired of me because I won't stop venting to them that just means they aren't true friends- Oh but wait then I don't have _any_ friends! Man, everyone's a terrible person (except me)
All of these videos describe my thoughts and emotions perfectly, but the suggestions never work. Maybe if I start acting like I'm fine, I'll actually start having friends again and actually be able to _be_ fine in the end.

Thanks for the video.
I often catch myself talking negatively to myself, and all of these phrases come up. I've been dealing with a lot of ruminations, what-if's, coulda-woulda-shoulda's, talking down on myself, intrusive thoughts, one minute I bring myself to tears and the next minute I get so angry I'm fighting for self-control.
I've found that keeping silent helps, and quietly but firmly telling the voices no or stop or enough can help too. I'm by myself most of the time and don't have anyone to really talk to, so this way seems to work.

i dont talk negatively to myself because of the masterbation stuff, i talk negatively about myself because my family is not giving me enough support not even school i get bullied alot and my parents like to compare me to others, they say that im worthless, and my sister always says i got picked up from a dump
sometimes i just want to k177 my self but i also always remember to think positive so i hope this messege helps you:

I tend to closely acknowledge how people respond to what I say, and that deliberately affects my mood at the moment. Especially if I try to tell something to a friend and they arent paying attention, I usually just leave it be because I assume they have more interesting things to do than listen to me. People always say Im smart, but I dont think they realize how often people dont listen to or acknowledge what I say.
reply

So I'm listening to this and I know that these phrases are not nice. But unlike a friend who is abusive, I can't cut myself off, I can't leave the friendship. I have to be my friend. Can I tell myself there is a consequence for treating myself this way? That seems off because, then I'm punishing myself for being hard on myself in a cruel way. I haven't figured out how to mediate this.
reply

I set very high standards for myself and I compare myself to myself. If I KNOW that I can do better, I will make myself be very aware of that fact by talking negatively to myself, but still have self confidence because I know that not everybody is able to do the things I do. So some people may perceive what I say to myself as being negative, but it is sort of a pep talk I give myself

I feel like sometime our mind is our worst enemy. It knows what gets us down. It knows what hurts the most.
For example that voice in my head, one of the most personaly hurtful things i think it has said was:
Why don't you just bottle your feelings away like you use to?
Everyone liked you before,
YOU like you before,
Now nobody likes you

reply

The last few years i've made mistake after mistake, i have called myself dumb or any similar word for that, today i have made another mistake but this time i couldn't take it anymore, a few hours ago i grabbed my pillow and i started screaming, i treated myself like i was the worst human being in existence, now i'm tired, i have to sleep but i can't.
reply

I dont like to feel emotions because feeling emotions stresses me out, so I talk bad about myself to keep me away from positive things for different reasons. Worse thing I ever said about myself? I dont know where to start but Ive came to an agreement to not do healthy/positive things because Im scared too. Whats the point of it if I dont feel motivated. :/
reply

Stuff that i tell myself:
- Why should I live anyway if I'm pretty much useless and can't do anything right
- I'm the most insignificant person ever
- I have nothing attractive about me
- I'm never going to have a healthy and deep relationship and i just gotta accept it anyway
- I'm way too sensitive for others
- I am boring

reply

The things I say
I am not good enough
I am not able to do anything
I am dumb
I can't do anything right
I wanna die (not because what my parents said it just I don't think I can do anything valuble so I think what the point of wanting to live if I don't have worth)

reply

When I'm usually in a chill or happy mood, I tend to think more positive things but when it's say a conflict between family members, I tend to think more negative things and one of them is I'm worthless or I'm useless and I can't seem to achieve expectations A or B. :'(
reply

Not just these, I go for many more negative self-talk:
Nobody likes me
No one can stand me
What does my life do for the world?
I'm an idiot
What's the purpose of my life already?
I'm not even worthy for being a simply good person
I'm not valued

reply

I told enough I was never going to be good enough. My mom compares me to my brother and I feel Ill never be good enough and then my mom wonders why Im insecure. Comparing yourself to others is how insecurities form. I started crying when you mentioned point 5.
reply

I fear that if I accept myself for what I have done and start praising my every accomplishments, I'll get too comfortable and start resting on my laurels and loose motivation. So I keep criticising myself to keep on going, and to make progress.
reply

For me I found I let it get in the way of things more. Im home alone constantly now (car wreck) and get anxious fast again. It feels like Im back to square one and Ill find myself invalidating my feelings or telling myself Im not enough. :(
reply

Why dont you ever try?
Youre unworthy of love
Nobody likes you
Youre so annoying
You cant do anything right
Why are you so worthless?
Youll never be good enough
I could go on, but these are my main ones,

reply

The worst thing I have ever said to myself was; youre a failure thats why you will never get anywhere in life and no one loves you so then I started to let my energy down and my dreams as a kid is broken thank you mom and dad
reply

It's like I have an internal dialogue, one pessimistic and one optimistic. I say something negative and I find a way to make me value myself more. I think something positive and my dumbass finds a way to make me feel worthless.
reply

I talk to myself because I never want to anyone be sad because me I've never tell my family How I feel to my family think I'm happy just acting happy i hate my life I type something wrong forgive me I'm not good I'm typing
reply

I'm pretty sure I'm depressed but I often feel like I shouldn't be sad because My life so good or I atleast get food and a home But I'm not okay, so I just suppress those feeling and never feel anything
reply

Can you do some ways to lower your ego. Im naturally smart, good at almost any academic thing I try, even if I barely try. Because of this, and comments from my classmates, have made my ego WAY too large.
reply

shit talking myself has been my normal for pretty much years now but one of the worst things i said as of late was you're wanted in this world unlike me to my wounds as i was cutting myself
reply

I say three out of six and I've been told by others, I'm too sensitive which is true but I accepted it and discovered I'm actually a HSP. My sensitivity is a strength not a weakness.
