Humans are social creatures and being ignored could be one of the most traumatic things to experience. Some say emotional pain hurts more than physical and being ignored could be one of those things. Are you tired of people ignoring you? Do you think there might be reasons why people are ignoring you? Maybe sometimes, facing ourselves may also help us in the long run. What do you think? Credits

at 5th grade in primary school my best friend went to another school and I didn't really have anybody else. Nothing like people would hated me, everybody just ignored me like I didn't even exist. I tried to join some friend group in my class and we get along very well and suddenly they randomly started to avoid me without reason. After that I just gave up I didn't know what's the problem with me. These years was the worst in my life the loneliness is surely a lot of pain. It's affected to my family life too, I started to talk less with my parents and sisters. I escaped to the online world cuz I gained a lot of friends there. My parents ofc just only saw that I started to be addicted to computers and told me to not to play too much etc.
But all of this started to be worse and I had a social anxiety disorder. I didn't have anybody to share my problems, I didn't talk about my real life to my online friends cuz I didn't want to seems like a loser. I felt embarrassed bc I was alone and seeing everybody have fun was really shit. In the school breaks I always waited the next lessons bc in that way people didn't see that I'm alone. I'm still struggling with my social anxiety. Even if now I have quite a lot of friend, talking in front of too much people and with people whom I usually not talk too much is really hard. And I'm still afraid of others opinion like I I buy a cloth the first thing I think is what's everyone else would think about it not whether I like it or not.

I've had times when I would just walk about at where I live (I live in a small apartment complex) and bump into someone to talk to. We would start to engage in a conversation (about general small talk) and when another neighbor comes by, the person I talk to would just suddenly leave me and go to the other person. It seems to happen to me a lot. It used to happen to me at work, but I'm retired now. It hurts when that happens. I never do that with anyone else. I don't know why they do it. It would seem like we were having a good chat. I wouldn't be talking about anything negative or critical.
On #2 I have a friend who criticizes me. Well lately he's toned down on the criticizing; he's not as bad as he used to be. I don't know if he's like that with others, but he seems to do well with friends. I don't understand it. There had been times I told him that I want out of our friendship. But he always wants to come back. Also, as of now, he doesn't have nearly the friends as he used to.

This all contradicts itself. According to this video people ignore you because you talk too much and talk over others and all about yourself, but on the same token in group conversations you overthink what youre going to say and end up not talking at all? How does that even work? Also someone who lacks confidence and is insecure is that way for a reason and isnt going to be cured by simply acknowledging it as it seems to indicate in this video I think in a world of selfish people and narcissists, intelligent attractive kind and honest people are ignored because of jealousy and intimidation. But yet this video makes it seem like its the fault of the person whos being ignored. Even more of a reason for us to feel completely horrible about ourselves and doubt if theres any hope of having any kind of connection with anyone. My own parent ignored me when I was just a baby and doted on my sisters who have great lives now. Yet Im still alone and being ignored by even my own family.

I had a group of friend at college, first i thought we are bestfriend and this relationship will last forever. however, i have had depression and anxiety since highschool and whenever i felt stressfull or having a panic attack, i allways reach for them first. But lately, i have gone through the worst time of my life since i couldn't sleep or eat, all because of family and working problems. At always, i reached for their helps but all they could say were stop panicking and do sth about it, you are not the only one feeling stress or having depression, think positive then life will be positive. As the result, i didn't find them to help me anymore and i met a friend ( she's also my classmate) helping me go through the hard time and she even helped me realise how bad my friends were when they knew what happened to me but do nothing about it. Afterall, i left that group peacefully ( or that was i thought) because i don't feel comfortable being a member of the group anymore.

I think society itself has changed for the worst especially in social interaction. At least we made a negative change in the way we interract mostly through technology. Also getting along in groups with people for me is very hard, and I'm not the only one. Although I have Autism, but even without it. I notice usually the misfits, or loners left out. And that's always been like that. At least what I know of. But they are not even given some chance to let's say prove or be accepted by the group. I think that triggers a lot of psychological illnesses. Because people are not made to be alone, we need each other! It hurts my heart to see that's what is going on, on a large scale or let's say increasing by a lot of factors playing in e. g. technology and many other things.

Another reason not listed here why people might seen to ignore you is because you may have a very low voice pitch, as a guy this is very rare to occur on men, I even got nicknamed after that once in 4th grade, they called me Whisper, in Spanish sounds much worse btw. So in my case a lot of the time I had felt ignored due to that reason since I often forgot it could be due to them not actually being able to listen to me when I spoke, so if you are soft spoken like in my case make sure to be LOUD and clear, so they can actually hear you, it sucks doing so but I can assure you the ignoring will reduce itself quite a lot if you have that issue.

Answer to question 1: No, people always talk over me so I can't even speak half the time.
Answer to question 2: Again, I don't get to speak cus people talk over me so I can't get to criticize
Answer to question 3: Yea I am. But that's because people always put me down when ever I try to lift myself up
Answer to question 4: I make it a priority to not stand out too much since people tend to treat me like crap
Answer to question 5: Yes I over think, because everyone else likes to play the blame game and blame me for things they need to own up to and make it look like I'm saying something I'm not so they twist my words.

The line at the very end is pretty valid
I've been beating myself up for well over a year now about how so many of my friends from before 2020 just don't wanna talk to me anymore it feels like, to the point that I sometimes get upset at the people who want to talk to me simply because I wished someone else would pay me that kind of attention.
I think about how much more active in group conversations I used to be that I talk about nonsense almost out of desperation to the point that I occasionally seem to just kill the entire conversation. I just wanna be how I used to be but it feels like I just can't anymore.

6) Most people are self absorbed dicks who have little interest in anything except their own world bubble. It's not you. It's them.
If we get ignored because we're not interjecting, it's because we see such people as the dicks they are and are too mentally tired from previously having to act out the socally accepted cues during such conversations that we see sitting it out with our own thoughts a more productive and stimulating use of our time.

How do you deal with people who are number 1? I constantly run into people who don't seem to know how to have an equal exchange of information and expect me to just listen to them divulge in whatever they feel like discussing but as soon as I start talking (mind you, confidently, positively and concise) they quickly overtake the conversation and then I'm back to just listening to them.
reply

I talk too much but I sometimes listen to them, And when they do talk about themselves, they won't give a thing about what I'm going to say, They aren't interested, so they kept the conversation in their way. It sometimes bother me, And I'm not that cold type so I just pretend that I'm interested in their topic. I don't know if I'm just being weird or they aren't good at listening.
reply

Its not always you people who are selfish and only want to talk about them self make you feel ignored.
Not necessarily the other way around. If you dont listen to them they will ignore you. Or rather tell a new person over you first because the feed off other people and can get away with more with a new person than you who might not buy what they are selling.

Negativity is hard to dispell especially if people are suffering from a mental illness. Negative atmosphere happens alot, especially with how the world is no evolving. Most humans are Negative. Humam brains are complex organs, and every human being has a unique brain, no one brain is the same. Hence why for some, Negativey is hard to dispelled
reply

number 1 says you dont listen to others i dont understand because im always a listener but whenever its my time to speak, they wont let me finish or they will speak again so our voices gets mixed up until ill just choose to stop because its useless speaking anyway. my side doesnt matter. it hurts so much
reply

I'm always rude and roast everyone plus criticise but still I have lot of friends, they always say thank u for making my language better by pointing mistakes and teach me roasting by roasting me.
( And when I meet them after long they say I missed your Insults a lot)

I am becoming self aware and its very late in life. My problem is saying out loud what others will wait and say it when the person is not around. I just say the obvious. so. I am learning to just smile and nod. Then I don't go tell anyone else. just be quiet smile and nod now

Please make a sequel to this. Because I know I can relate to at least two of these. One being that Ive been going through some trauma recovery and I know Ive been talking a lot about it with some friend and I feel like it may have impacted our relationship in some ways.
reply

I am a good listener, i am sympathetic, but most of the time they don't listen to me. If I ask them about my stuff and life. Most of them will not remember it.
So I choose to listen, and not share my own.
I only share to few people. People who listen to me.

Yes I always feel like this and my friends do ignore me it's just at school I don't know the reason why. Because I have lots of people to talk to but. all I just want is a mature life and FINALLY MEET MY STEP SISTER. so in my life I teally get ignored a lot
reply

I dont have any love or forgiveness in my heart anymore so I keep everyone away from me. It's a problem but I genuinely hate everyone around me. Despite my feelings, part of me still tries to make efforts to make some small talk. I just cannot trust anyone

I went from being really positive to really negative due to undergoing a rape and loss of a friend due to overdose in a month. Does it get better? This just happened last month and it is affecting my relationship with my partner big time.
reply

I talk allot and but I find it hard to put things into a smol condensed form often and I'm aware it overwhelms done but idk how to communicate effectively in a small amount of words as easily as a large amount
reply

I'm pretty sure some of us here are not the problem. Other people tend to talk about themselves more that they won't listen to what you're saying. They're ignoring you because they're soo full of themselves.
