Things to know when you or someone you know has a mental illness:
1. Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesnt mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.
2. Please know that although you might be struggling now, some day you will look back and realize what you went through changed your life in many ways for the better.
3. You matter. You are enough. You are worthy. You are talented. You are human. You are loved. Your feelings and emotions are valid.
4. Hope: Never underestimate the power of hope. Hope fuels us with energy and courage to go forward. Hope (Hold On, Pain Ends) also heals our fears, anxieties, and our problems.
5. Overthinking is the biggest cause of our unhappiness.
6. If you feel like you're losing everything, remember that trees lose their leaves every year and still they stand tall and wait for better days to come.
7. Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to have an undeniable breakthrough.
8. Going to a counselor or a therapist when you're feeling sad or overwhelmed should be as normal as going to the doctor when you have a cold or the flu. Let's end the stigma about mental health.
9. Having a mental illness isn't easy and it's even harder when people assume when can get over it.
10. If you know someone with a mental illness, please don't make them feel like they have to prove how unwell they are. They're fighting a misunderstood, invisible illness that is life-threatening. Please be kind.
11. Never apologize for being sensitive or emotional. Let this be a sign that you got a big heart and aren't afraid to let others see it. Showing your emotions is a sign of strength.
12. Your mental health is a priority. Your happiness is an essential. Your self-care is a necessity.
13. Recovery is not a race. You don't have to feel guilty if it takes you longer than you thought it would.
14. Give yourself permission to unplug and regroup, without feeling guilty. You can't be there for others if you don't take care of yourself first.
15. People start to heal the moment they feel heard.
16. Get the facts and myths.
17. How mental illness impacts you and others.
18. Get the support you need and make fundraising events for people with mental health.

I have a few mental health conditions, and a physical disability. I do my best each and every day to take care of my mental health. But with a physical handicap, it can be very challenging to get out sometimes. I have a hard time talking to others if Im struggling. Just because I feel like my problems arent valid enough. Also, nobody else deserves to carry around the burden of my problems. And about people having a negative way of thinking about mental illnesses, I look at like this. If people dont believe in mental illnesses, then they might as well not believe in physical disabilities. They might as well not believe in blindness or epilepsy. Or other physical challenges.

I dont know why but for some reason I cant stop running back to the people who can negative to me like some of my friends. I feel like Im alone without them even though they say that they dont like this or that just anything negative and general like I dont care, I can do what I want. But then Ill just end up hanging out with them even when they can emotionally hurt me. I dont really want to be annoying to anyone I just dont feel like these are any healthy relationships that could slightly. possibly. be affecting my mental health.

Happy to say that the point 3 for me doesn't exist i have no issues speaking about my depression and panic attacks. I have been dealing with them for more than 10 years and i still moving forward had bad years with medication other with nothing since they weren't needed they are my battlescars of life. I have pride in them since they are stuff i have overcome or are dealing with.

Being on the spectrum I had to learn from an extremely young age what it meant to be self-sufficient and how to accept one's self before going out to make new friends or peers. People look at me like I'm crazy for saying that I've never been happier with myself and my life than I am right now, but really, I look past all of that because I know what the deal is. XD

I know it's not my fault I have depression and extremely bad anxiety. but is it my fault if when those both peak and I'm around people and they see the side of me that I'm trying so hard to hide. Two of my friends saw that side of me and now they are demanding an apology from my for how my attitude was that day. I'm so lost, am I the bad person in this situation?

Schools should teach about mental health. I read somewhere that the 14 year olds of today suffer from mental health issues as mush as the 40 year old of 30/40 years ago. That is scary. And there are still too many people who treat depression as people just wallowing in their sadness. As if! If I could just choose to be happy I would.

Can you make a video about how to cope with severe depression? Like when you have so little energy you cant even work or study or clean your room or bathe anymore?
Can you also make a video about treatment resistant/refractory depression (unresponsive to medication and talk therapy) and what to do if you have that?

Hi! I'm an introvert, and I suffer from adhd, so I keep remembering horrible, and embarrassing stuff from the past and can't forget them. I also can't seem to handle or ignore racist comments when I read them. what should I do? I keep thinking about them before going to bed and can't get it off of my mind. help!

People often hold a fear of the inner domain, the mind for what it is capable of yet one question?
We know our self the best from the fact in a way we have learned to be our self, though like a good dish learning a good mental seasoning can take time but is always worth it.

Mental health has been an important part of my life for several years by now. I've come to. understand myself more deeply, manage my personality and my emotions way better. It has made me stronger (mentally, more compasionate, and in general a better person.

As Margaret Chan said. there is no health without mental health. Thanks for bringing awareness to such an important topic. Mental health literacy not only breaks down stigma but it empowers you to make well informed decisions about your care!

Mental health awareness has improved to the point where my friend Matt and I agreed to see each other over the holidays, but only AFTER he had a day to himself, to charge - he had been active socially 3 weeks straight without a break!

There are things i can do to get rid of some of my stressers, but my lack of motivation, energy and mental stability keeps me from doing that, which feeds into itself, and now I'm at my breaking point and don't know what to do

Great vid, we need more positive-related or hope-inspiring vids. Watching about problems (why ya sad, why ya can't, why ya feel bad) is important but watching about problems over nad over can't be healthy, right?

You need to get off social media the most. Nothing explains the rise in mental illness as well as ubiquitous internet connection. We need solitude. See digital mininimalism by Cal Newport
