FOMO, i. e Fear Of Missing Out. Thank you psych2go; now I've identified and put a name on the root of my growing anxiety (and possibly depression. Recently, I couldn't help but feel lost in life (i'm beginning my 20s): on one hand I want to meet the standards of a modern society that values pleasure (even dangerous and immoral ones) over discipline (I like to take risks in life but that has always backfired on me, so I dunno anymore, on the other hand I want to meet the expectation of a right, dutyful, disciplined community that believes in high standards.
There are more to this than what I've said but I don't think it's a good idea to expose my personal life on the internet, my point being: I'l stuck between two extremes and I donno what to do.
Of course, the first step to resolve a problem is to identify it, which you have helped me by informing me what my problem is. The next logical step would be to go and find an adequate solution to the problem, right?

I changed my life in a big way recently. I was living in Amsterdam, had a job and was pretty comfortable, but I felt completely stuck. So about six months ago I packed up all my stuff and went to Italy. I traveled around for a few months (on my roadbike) and am now in Ferrara (Northern Italy, looking for a place. I'm very lucky that I was able to find work I can do remotely (translation work, so I don't have to worry too much about money, though right now it is a bit tight.
It was and still is scary, it can be lonely at times and of course I miss my family and friends. But I've also met so many new friends from all over the world and even though I'm still figuring things out, I know it was the best decision I've ever made.

Best decision I ever made was to accept a job after 8 years of not working. I wondered if I made a mistake after the first couple of days because I was so tired. However, because I took this job I lost weight and feel like I was saved from a prison I couldnt foresee escaping. And, its just me and my boss working from her home, with her two dogs and my dog who she insisted I bring with me. I call her my friend now, and we are equally grateful for one another, but in actuality I think of myself as her fourth rescue dog, lol, because I truly believe she saved my life.

Unfortunately money buys what makes me happy. I moved in a new country around one year and a half ago, the friends I have made choosed other universities (I am not in uni, some that I thought we would be my friends didn't become my friends, others moved to anoher city. If I had money I could start doing some activities or take lessons about something and then I would meet more people. also with money I could buy books, pay some streaming membership. what I want to say that for some people money buy happiness

I really needed this. But like. I wanna live my life to the fullest by juat being myself, taking care of myself, and doing what I like and explore my potential like Pixel art, Story wrting, programming, etc. But it's not that easy because of many responsiblities I needed to do like college and work. Atleast I can still be happy. Hope everyone here having a good time too: 3

Food For Thought: The beauty of life is, while we cannot undo what is done, we can see it, understand it, learn from it, and change so that every new moment is spent not in regret, guilt, loneliness, hesitation, fear, or anger; but in wisdom, understanding, enthusiasm, freedom, passion and love.

Fear of failure can hold us back from pursuing in our dreams and success.
Comparing yourself to other people lives make us feel like were missing out I agree with that
No one is in charge of your happiness YOU are.
The less you worry what others think the more joy you will feel.

Does anyone know how I can create a video similar to this? I have a presentation coming up, and wanted to use drawings and animations to narrate my story, but I don't know how they get the drawings. Please let me know if anyone knows how to, and thank you!

God, FOMO. It has been both a huge motivator and a source of anxiety to me for as long as I can remember. Working under the rule that everybody has their own timeline is something I'm trying hardly to implement upon my life. Not as easy as it sounds
reply

Money can't buy lasting joy is somehow false statement for me as from all the relationships I've got more and more pain even when I gave them happiness so I believe money can give you freedom to enjoy the things you like on your own.

Thanks for the information in these kinds of videos.
But, what if you realize you're at a point where it is too late and have no more opportunity to learn any of these important lessons? How can someone come back from something like that?

Loved this video, I find more insight in longterm thinking because thats something I struggle with. This video helped me see that its not always about how much money you have, its the people that support you as well. Stay safe everyone

The only constant in life is change. Change can b good. But change for th sake of change isn't always good. Just go with th flow (follow th Holy Spirit, if you're born again & belong to th Lord Most High. Roll with it

I've been writing down my gratitudes recently, before I even saw this video. I'm grateful for so many things in my life, like the roof over my head, food, water, a bed to sleep in. Etc

You don't care what people think of you. You live as your natural self. Without compromise. No one can tell you how to be true to yourself except you.

If I'm in charge of my own happiness, then why can't I make myself happy? Clearly everyone else is in control of my happiness

I wish they had these vids 60 years ago, when my life was beginning. Now, it's pretty much over, and too late to make repairs.
